6 bolt block oil passages

I was freshening up my 6 bolt block because im putting it back together soon when i was cleaning i noticed that there was a piece missing on the block and its behind where the oil pump mounts up and I wanted to know if it needs to be fixed or if i should leave it like it is so i do not mess up the gasket surface or if i just need to get a new block in tota

Looks like a casting flaw. That isn't an oil passage, so i wouldn't worry about it, the 2 long ones are the only oil passages.

If you look at the gasket, it appears the balance shaft residual oil drains into the upper portion of where your finger points. the machined galley doesn't appear to be used for anything. So you might get some oil drained into the bottom portion that will just be trapped doing nothing.

So what you're saying is I should lose oil pressure, or could it possibly starve some components because of that?[DOUBLEPOST=1413467073][/DOUBLEPOST]
You can probably get that gap welded for piece of mind
If I dont have to then I wont because im worried it might mess up the gasket surface but If I have to then I will

If that hole is leading just into the open crank case and not an oil galley then you won't lose oil pressure. If it's connected to a galley then you have a problem. I just don't know if that is an oil passage or not. I don't think it is because the oil passage mods don't say anything about that section.
Take a look at the front case and see what mates up to it, if nothing then I would think you are good to go.

What I was saying is it's residual. So at the point there, it doesn't have any pressure, its just draining/leftover and just goes into the crankcase anyway. The galley itself on the front case looks to be the same, thin just a drainage path back down to the pan.

i would prolly git it tig welded and shave it back down to factory just so there is no loss in oil pressure or anything

Why would you recommend this, as i and others have stated is isn't an oil passage so there won't be any oil pressure loss. It is just a casting flaw that some blocks have, and some don't. It won't effect anything whatsoever.
