Looks like these will clear most big brakes. 17x7.5 35 offset.

I think they look awesome. I looked at these for a while. I emailed 5Zigen about the weight of the 17X8.5 and they told me around 21+ lbs, which is a little heavy but not ridiculous.

I don't know about 1G, but at least on a 2G I think the 17X7.5 42 offset would be more ideal, assuming you're not going to run bigger than 235s. It would be pretty close to the rear upright, but you probably wouldn't have to worry about the fenders much if at all.

Have you considered the 17X8.5 with the 38 offset?

Yes, I know they're not the lightest rims, but I'm not about to buy a set of uber light rims that cost as much as the car.

20 lbs per rim or so is average. Not horrible. There are some affordable light rims out there, but most have turned out to be incompatible with big brakes (something I'd like to get later on). The Gram Light s 57c 17x7.5 30 offest works but they look a bit boring to me. The Kosei K1 and K1 TS aren't bad but can never get info on whether they'd fit big brakes. My stock brakes are pretty crappy. Major steering wheel vibration during braking from anything faster than 30 mph.

On the 1G 17x7.5 with 35 offset will put the tires and wheels pretty flush with the fender. 17x8 with 43 offset is the same. 17x8 with 38 offset will stick out slightly. 17x8.5 with 38 would definitly stick out too much. The problem is the front fenders. 1Gs seem to have shallow wheel wells in the front... or the fender doesn't flare out enough.

8.5" wide rims are just a bit too wide for the 1Gs from what I've gathered. So I'm looking at the GN+ in 7.5 wide and the Black Racing Pro N1 in 8 wide. Not sure which would be better. They weigh about the same. Both look nice but leaning towards the GN+ because of the machined lip.

Nice looking wheel, but I'd like a few more opinions as to whether a 17X7.5 +35mm wheel will rub the fender in the front on a 1g. I've PM'ed a few who run that same setup and their gallery pics look like they would rub, but they swear it doesn't. I'm just a little nervous about that size. If worst came to worst, you could cut the part of the fender that sticks out with a sawzall so that it forms "tabs" and then bend them up to make more room. Another attractive option in that exact size and offset that weighs 17lb is the Rota Action. That's probably what I'll get.

Unless you have it slammed... it's not going to rub. Suspension has a ways to go before the tire comes near the fender lip.
