Whats better about the 91-94 awd 5spd compared to the 90 awd 5spd?

seen on here theres a difference between the two?

So would one be an advantage over the other?

also so a 90 transfer case would not work with a 91-94 awd trans because it has 23 splines?

Correct. Splines of transfer case must match splines of TRANS. But, it's actually easy to swap output shafts inside the trans.

As far as building a trans, the 92-94 is your best option. The intermediate gears already have the necessary changes in order to run the double synchro 2-3-4 gears. The 90 intermediate shaft, this is NOT possible.

^^^ In total agreement.

Plain and simple the late 91-94 trans's are the ones to have. The 90 is just weak. You can only put a few of the better parts from the later trans in them. Its just better to start with a 91 1/2 - 94 trans.

If you upgrade to the 91-94 you will have to change your shifter cables and base as well for it to function correctly.
