5 spd awd to 5 spd fwd

My '90 tsi awd tranny decided to blow up in my second day of driving it. Being new to DSM's, but not to ripping apart cars, I removed the tranny, and found my 1-2 synchros had spewed bearings and other misc. pieces all over the inside of my tranny. Anywho, I'm buying a 5 speed '93 1.8L fwd, and was wondering if the two trannys had compatible parts to rebuild my awd tranny, or if my 2.0 turbo would hook up to the 1.8 tranny

No the 1.8l tranny will not work with your current motor. There are plenty of used awd transfer cases and trannies everywhere, no need to downgrade to a fwd. Search around and you will see.

They are differnt animals might share a few parts but not much the 1.8 can not hold the HP and torque. I have two AWD transmissions I am trying to get rid of PM me if your interested.
