This is going to be a long explanation thread, to the set backs of getting this car painted.

May be irrelevant but drove through a really bad storm in the 98’ Eclipse not intentional, lowered and drive through flooding. Car has a minor transmission leak which can be expected for sitting for two years and never being worked on.

Couple days after the storm went to start car and it didn’t start the first time, lights came on couple second later was able to start. Got to the exit of parking lot and the car died, was able to restart drove about 6 houses down and car died, this time with no accessory not able to restart. Pushed it off the road after a couple minutes the lights came on and was able to start the car, tried driving again and it died after passing 4 parking spots, restarted and got it into a spot after accepting she wasn’t having it.

Came back to it hours later it started just fine drove it around fine went to park and threw a check engine light and code of p0505 for idle air control malfunction. Wanted to get it home instead of leaving in a parking lot. Started it fine drove some and then car jolted along with the lights as if it was going to die but didn’t. Pulled over then tried driving it again to at least get into a parking lot and it died. Restarted and drove to a parking lot. Then figured why not press our luck and try getting it home only a couple more blocks right? No. Died right when I put it into drive.

Next day started fine but didn’t drive just got it towed to a shop. They said it was the throttle body and idle control valve being gunked up. Should be good now. Test drove it and going up a hill also while hitting bumps, car pushed forward and tried to rev to 4rpm, wasn’t touching the gas or brakes just letting it coast. Did the same thing while going down a hill and hitting a bump. Shop said it seems like transmission may not be able to tell what gear it’s in. Now is at another shop in hoping the transmission isn’t screwed.

Hoping the storm didn’t do anything water wise. Any thoughts or advice?

update: ground wires. Freakingggg ground wires. That’s what was the problem aamco was trouble shooting things and they had gotten codes for something being to high and power up? Not sure exactly what the codes were as they weren’t noted but everything works now and sounds much smoother!
