So over the past few years I've been slowly but surely gathering my parts to build my Awd talon. My goal is to have a dd 500hp car which at the time was a big deal, but not so much now LOL. When it comes to me, I'm really picky you could say and meticulous about my dsm. I do not waste any costs and choose to buy 99% of my parts brand new and also to help out the vendors.

So here we go when I started:
2013

After I sold my 2g gst back in 2013, I wanted to find the perfect 2g awd. I originally wanted a 97-99 2gb eclipse and I wasn't familiar with "talon" at the time. A few days after I sold my gst, I found a 95 2g talon for sale. Besides the paint, everything was all original and super clean with only 81k miles. I ended up picking "the one". Something that bothered me with the car was that the owner rhino lined the whole car! I wasn't sure if it would be removable or expensive but the low mileage and condition I couldnt refuse!

2017

So after saving up some money it was time to build my motor. I decided to go with a 2g 7 bolt head and 6 bolt block. I chose to go with Millenium Motorsports and I told him my intentions with the car so we decided to go with :

7 bolt head
-Kelfords 272
-Kiggly Racing springs and retainers
-Kiggly HLA
-Gsc no tick lifters
-Supertech valves, bronze valve guides, seals
6 Bolt Block
-JE .020 pistons Manley H-Beams
-Arp main and headstud kit
-H series racing rod and main bearings
-Polished OEM crankshaft

Summer 2017:
As I mentioned before, the rhyno line on my car was bugging me and I really wanted to paint my car the factory color. I felt like it would cost an arm for a shop and remove this paint but luckily I found a shop who charged me the same as if it was just normal paint to remove. Btw I did a 2gb talon bumper and hatch conversion along with black housing headlights. I also lowered the car on some cheap cut springs which I plan to upgrade to some nice coilovers in the future!

2018

Fast forward a year later I made a huge purchase at Extreme Psi which is my favorite place to shop at, these guys never let me down! Also some pics of parts I bought along the way including a BsFab 02 housing and a Paul Gamble catch can!

One of the main reasons my build took so long was because I was stuck focusing on the appearance LOL. One thing I really wanted for years was a full on 99 black interior in mint condition. All the ones i found were on the other side of country or in bad shape and i thought all hope was lost until i got lucky! I found a guy who was parting out his 99 gsx that he barely bought due to rust which was pretty much beyond repair. Let's say it wasnt cheap but I had to buy it and I did! Such a big difference! I chose not to install the 99 cluster so my cluster can match my chassis but who knows might change my mind when the miles match up LOL

As I said earlier, this build is a real slowly but surely process LOL. I was usually just buying the rest of my parts as I saved up enough money.

Last week I decided to finally start assembling my motor. I went with a new oem front case, gears, along with all new oem gaskets, seals and fasteners.

I forgot to mention earlier but I ended up going with a Fp Black and manifold. I kinda bought my parts all of order when I first started this build. I kinda regret doing that because now I wish I went a different route but oh well

So basic rundown on the setup I went with

- Act streetlight flywheel
-38mm Tial wastegate, Tial bov
-Fluidamper pulley
- Fic 1200 high Zs
-8an feed and 6an return lines
-Fuel lab fuel filter and FPR
-Fp Black , exhaust manifold, and intake pipe

I still have some parts to buy to finish this build. Mainly need a clutch, fluids, and weld an fittings on valve cover. I'm probably missing alot more but damn all these parts keep adding up LOL

So found time to do the timing last night, Evo9 Kevlar belt ftw :D. Realized my pick up tube didn't fit because of the main ARP's so had to chop off the leg. I couldn't find my rear main seal gasket so couldn't put oil pan on :banghead:

Hopefully I find it and get the pan on today. I think it's also time to buy a clutch. I'm leaning towards a south bend clutch, I need something that can handle 500hp safely

So in a bind right now. Ironically I said earlier I wished I went with a different turbo setup. I purchased a FP 3052 drop in and go. I'm gonna call FP and ask them which turbo I should go with based on my setup and 500hp goal. Turbo setup is all ceramic coated and comes with a 38mm Tial wastegate, FP manifold, boost by gear controller, lines, fittings.

If I go with this setup then I'd sell my FP black turbo setup. Kinda torn because the Black setup is all brand new. Only thing I would keep out of that setup is my new purple Tial Wastegate and sell the black one that comes with the 3052

It feels like forever since I updated but with all this nonsense happening around the world, it slowed down everything.

I pulled the old motor out and then started removing my fuel hard lines which was a PITA. I was lucky to completely remove them without dropping the subframe. I also cut out the hard line for the master to slave since I upgraded to an ss line.

I ordered some new Fic high z 1200 injectors and went with a ssx southbend clutch

Sent my valve cover in to get sandblasted, an fittings installed, new baffles, and powdercoated. Came out real clean!

Snapchat-1115009467.jpg

The only thing left to do is install my new fuel lines from tank to engine bay, went with nylon braided racing hose from extremepsi. Replace the seals on my transmission and tcase, slap 02 housing, and connect the water lines and oil feed line. Just waiting on those parts to come in

Curious, I noticed I had to clock the injectors to the left since they hit if you try lining them up straight. Anybody know in advance if this will cause issues fitting the injector plugs?

Edit: Because I'm bored LOL, I forgot to add I painted the grey panels black so it can look more aggressive. Carpet will be next on one of my to do list

Long overdue update but I finally got my car running :hellyeah:. After almost 8 years building this setup it's alive and healthy!

Car sounds strong and healthy. Believe it or not, I literally just plugged in my injector values and the car runs solid. I still need to finish break in and some minor adjustments of course but pleased with how very little I needed to do to drive it in the streets.

My next to do list besides dialing in the tuning adjustments is relocate my fuse box under wheel well and maybe buy the jm fab small battery kit to clean things up!

Congratulations! Thanks for breathing new life into a Talon, especially one that was rhino coated. The car looks great.
