Sup Everyone,
I'm looking at a 96 talon TSI awd thats for sale right now. It has 88000 miles but has a salvage title and engine trouble. What happened is the previous test driver took it for a spin but left the radiator cap off, resulting in the engine blowing up(The radiator blew its fluid out all over the engine and the guy ran the car with no fluid, making the engine (blow-up). so now the engine makes a rattle sound over 4000 rpms. The car also cuts out sometimes when car is coasting, but then when you step on the gas its ok. My future plans for the car would be to build it up.
So now heres my question, Purchase or RUN?
A new engine if it needs one is 2700 dollars without installation or shipping. Can I just buy the car and port the cylinders, replace pistons, seals, gaskets, rings, crankshaft all with performance parts or just buy a new engine. Does it need a new engine or just parts? Basically whats amatter with the engine?
The seller wants 3000 but we got him down to 2000. We would really like the purchase the car for 1500 since its a salvage. It looks like the front end alignment in the front is off due to poor reconstruction. We dont mind the work but is it worth it?
PLEASE help!!!
