I have read every short shifter post i can find and while i was looking for my shifter (didn't know what it was, got it used and not labeled) But it turned out to be a fidanza, or at least exactly like the fidanza.

Anyway, the point i'm getting at is that when i went to check for the shifter stop there wasn't one. I was going to build one since the old fidanza units didn't have them, and when i looked at 2 other daily driven 2g's with stock shifters today and there was no stops on them either. There's a part I need to go back to an OEM shifter (which i want to do) I'll post pics of it in a minute, if anyone had one they'd sell for a 2g I'll buy it.

I want to hit save on the thread before plugging in my camera because sometimes the USB sends a static charge over and reboots my PC LOL

I like the feel of some stockers i've modified better than i like the feel of my fidanza when it comes to hiting or missing third gear. I put new bushings in the fidanza unit today nad it already feels a lot better, but i'd rather sell it on ebay and get some money back instead of cutting it up and still not being satisfied with the shifts.

The other reason was reading all about these shift stops and then wanting to have that added protection for my TRE trans, but to get this post back on topic no 2g i've looked at has one, has anyone seen a shift stop in a 2g car from the factory?

2g's dont have shift stops on the shifter...

Thank you.. now i have to wonder, if not having them on the 1g short shifters was such a big deal, why did mitsu stop putting them on the 2g shifter from the factory? Was there an insternal stop in the transmission? I'll be honest that i don't take manual trannies apart very often because i haven't done enough of them to feel confident in putting it back together exatly how it should be without some close supervision from some one who has and have never put the DSM trans back together.. In fact i have a 2g FWD trans in my garage that only needs a new diff and for me to repair the case where there's a hole in it and it would be a good trans i could sell, but the little plastic part (some black thing) and all the little srings and balls that are out of it have me stumped on putting it back together ( i got it diss-assembled).

I've planned on fixing the case, finding a diff for it and either selling or keeping it as a back up, at this point i'd rather sell it to buy my turbo and make some room in my garage :)

you should talk to alex at dogboxracing.com, i have one of ther shifters in my car and it is the best thing you can do to a dsm, they take your stock shifter and weld adjustable stops on it and shortin the throw. It takes the play out of it and gives the shifter a crisp feel. Also the stops help prevent shifter forks from breaking. :thumb: im not positive if they do 2gs, but id look in to it. if you have drivin a mustang thats how it feels. the site is down but here is his number 732-861-5637

Well, i plan on installing my own modified shifter I've done several and love the way they feel over the one i have now, but if their website was up i would like to see what they offer.

My main question still remains if there's a stop inside the trans on a 2G car or not?

I may still build some stops into the new shifter, but the whole thing that got me started on this was after reading threads where so much emphasis was placed on the shifter stop (or lack there of) I decided to have a look and see if i had them on my current shifter or not (i didn't )...then after looking at a few cars at not finding any OEM or not i was wanting to know if and where 2g's had them period.

There was so much concentration on the shift stops on all the 1g short shifter threads that it puzzles me that no one's really stepped in with any info on why they aren't on the 2g shifter and why it's okay (wether it means internal stops or not) *shrugs*
