Ok so my speedometer doesn't work on the 2g I just bought. This is my first 2g btw.

So I pulled the speed sensor to have a look at it and noticed that it looks pretty new aside from the gear having some shavings on it (plastic shavings)

After doing my research I have discovered that possibly the gear size in the 95-96 is larger than the 97-99. Is this correct?

I ask because I have found a few oem vss on ebay but when I explain that I need to know what year they came from they reply saying I'm wrong they are all the same size.

Also is there a way I can test my vss without having another 2g? Or could it be the right size but just installed incorrectly?

Yes, there are differences between the sensor and gear depending upon year and trans type. Part numbers:

AWD M/T 95-96: MD746492

AWD A/T 95-96: MD757055

AWD M/T 97-99: MD749150

AWD A/T 97-99: MD760150

FWD M/T 95-99: MD746492

FWD A/T 95-99: MD757055

Thanks I know the p/n from what I found I just wanted to be sure.

If my gear has shavings on it is it safe to assume I have the wrong size or can it be installed incorrectly (cross threaded)
