Hey guys,

I did a search and couldn't come up with anything; hope you can help me here.

I'm trying to remove the factory black plastic bezel around the instrument cluster. There are two screws at the top; I've removed these but the bezel seems to be wedged or something... are there other screws holding the thing in place? I can't seem to unwedge it! Do I just yank real hard?

Thanks guys! :thumb:

hey shuwa, thanks for the reply! :)

"Be easy with it"? heheh. I wish! I've been prying at it, but I'm trying to be careful with the rubbery dash material of the cluster "hood"... hmm... just 2 clips, huh? How did you get yours out? Did you pull from the top? Or pull the bottom (where the clips are) out first? It's jiggling around, but doesn't wanna come out...

Fred

Well, thanks, Lang Jii and Shuwa; I really appreciate it. I managed to get it out... I pulled on the bottom part first and undid the 2 snug-fitting clips, then slid the top part out. For anybody else removing this bezel, it's easier if you lower your tilt steering wheel... me being the retard that I am tilted the wheel at the last moment. heheh. :D

Thanks again!

Fred

another thing that makes it 50% easier is remove your steering column cover AND lower your steering wheel. Everything should slide out nicely.

Anyone who has this I have a quick question. What are the 2 holes on the bottom, I bought mine used and it doesnt have anything for them. Can you tell me what came with yours.

Thanks

I still don't understand then, you didn't put the gauges you bought with it in it? Or do you mean screw holes or something? Pics would help, though the pics I've seen only have openings to put the gauges in.

i just installed a boost gauge today. i got the dsm specific pod that replaces your factory bezel around your cluster. booth the gauge and bezel are autometer. the gauge works great, just as its supposed to. the bezel on the other hand does not. there are two things wrong with it

1. the plastic is deformed, so the back where it meets the clear plastic covering the gauge cluster is bent down and covering the top most part of the speedo and about half of the righthand turn signal.

2. the right side bottem screw hole doesnt line up! i only have three screws holding it in place because that lower right on WILL NOT srew in. the hole looks like its about 1/8 of an inch off.

now this is just plain shoddy craftsmenship, and im really dissapointed with autometer. because i paid 80$ for this piece. anyway i just wanted to warn you guys. and ask if anyone else has had this problem? did i mabye just get a bad part? what do yall think?

I just installed an autometer a-piller gauge pod, and it fit very poorly. I actually had to cut about half an inch off of two sides of it and it still doesn't fit very well. As high as these things are priced, they should fit nice and snug. Dissapointing...

Maybe you just got a bad one? Mine fits just fine, only problem I have is that my VDO gauges are too long for the pods in the bezel. The back of the gauges hit the clear plastic and stick out about a half inch. I'm going to go back to an A pillar. Another thing I don't like about the bezel replacement is you can't see the gauges when the steering wheel is turned. A pillar is the best way to go.

Mike

ya, im thinking of getting an a pillar pod now. the gauges are not as visable as i hoped they would be. an a pillar pod would be best. oh well, live and learn

Cant find the cluster bezel that fits 60mm guages . All i have found was 52 mm  Im not paying 80-90.00 for an auto meter thats just stupid. any ideas?

im replacing my guages and i cant get the bezel cover off, ive unscreweed the top two screws but i cant get it out still, i want to just pull on it. do i need to do anything else?
Jason

After the two screws, I'm able to just pull it out.. I hate plastic, always seems like it's going to break :( It helps to lower the steering wheel too
