I FINALLY worked on the car this weekend LOL managed to get a lot done. The floor bars are officially welded into the car and I got 90% of the 25.5 tacked back in. The last few pieces I need to make are a new windshield bar, roof bar and 4 gusset bars. This needs to be 100% tacked in by Saturday as the cars getting shipped off to Mikes house and he will be the contortionist to weld this whole thing up. Also changed how I am doing the front end so it can be symmetrical.

Getting that front end matched up to the OEM positioning must have been a little tricky. Not that it has to be exact, but I've always been fascinated how people get the bumper cover positioning right when they do tubular front ends like this.

The hardest part will be lining the hood pins up being that the hood is already drilled for them.. that should be a party LOL

Scored a few new goodies!
Carbon headlight deletes
JMF Billet intake manifold - currently purple will be black LOL
and the newest addition Precision Turbo Next Gen 8085!! Huge shoutout to Nick with Wild Performance on the deal of a lifetime on this unit.

What's next on the chopping block is the steering column then all the mounts and tabs on the front end,

Couldn't resist test fitting the shifter LOL

This is by far the most tedious part, mounting headlights straight and making body lines match - but it's done! So far I have both headlights fully mounted, the intercooler has its upper mount I just need to weld some tabs on the bottom of it to bolt to the lower cross tube. Up next is radiator and electric water pump mounts.

Yea, that's super scary. Looks like you're doing great work though! Looking forward to seeing the final result.

I've always wanted to do this to my car and have the mounting points studded to the chassis so I could remove it and just pull the engine/trans out from the front.

Thank you! It's something I've always wanted to do as well. Unbolt a few things and the whole front comes off for ease of maintenance because we all know stuffs going to break LOL

I know that steel rod material is plenty strong, but it just looks like the IC will be vibrating with the flex of the rod.
The intercooler will be mounted on the bottom with 1" chromoly tube, that's the main intercooler support. The top intercooler mount is basically there to strengthen up the rest of the steel rod

My car has been pushed to the back burner from doing side work. We(Brandon and I) just wrapped up this cage in this b-e-a-u-tiful evo. This is a full street car with full interior, heat and all. Next up Brandon will be painting the engine bay since its dull and faded and this ones outta here! Then Brandons 1g is coming back in, new motor will go in, new intake and exhaust manifolds and new electronics!

Here's a few pics of the 10 pt cage -

I did do a bit of welding on my cage as well, most of the driver side is all done. I picked up a tig welder for the first time about 8 months ago and I like to think I'm not doing too bad! It just really sucks that it went from -30* here in Ohio to 60* within about 2 days so everything was frozen then immediately thawed and I didn't wipe down all the moisture off the cage so EVERYTHING rusted which makes for a massive headache having to clean everything again before welding it.

Also, I got the turbo mocked up with a temporary mount so I can make the fixture to get the manifold started!

some exciting stuff is happening! For the first time in a long time the car is back on the ground! Borrowed @goonie90gsx wheels to roll around on so this thing can get loaded up into the trailer for a field trip up to BS Fab for a manifold! In doing so I had to finish making my steering column and tie rods which all turned out pretty awesome.

Getting this thing off the dolly was freaking scary, engine hoist in the back on the cage and jacks in the front LOL
