Well I have made the decision to go full 25.5 on the Turd. As much as I didn't want to I ripped the whole cage out so I could do the floor bars the way I wanted to and looking back I'm so glad I did. Thankfully most of the bars were just sitting on the notches and only a few were tacked so it wasn't too bad to pull it out. Last night I got the windshield bars and main hoop notches cut so they could sit on top of the floor bars and I also got the main floor bars done and drilled all 14 billion spot welds on the factory seat bracket mounts. All that's left for the floor is a couple 1" and 1.25" diagonal bars and it can come out to be fully welded. Next up is the driver enclosure which will be a party to make.

Also went ahead and ditched the factory steering column and ordered this awesome chromoly column. My new Kirkey seat is at Buschur I just have to go pick it up so I can get started on making the mounts off the floor bars.

Sadly the powder coat place is super jammed up right now, my trans is 2 weeks behind (hopefully done today) so as soon as that's done the trans is off to the legend Shep to get the PPG gearset installed. Once the dogbox is done its gettin slapped in the rust rocket black car and its ready to go racin!

Any fear of second thoughts when you started cutting into the floor? I know I would have sat there for a long time before I made that first cut. It's looking good though. Keep it up!

Pretty much went for gold with no looking back haha! The piece that I cut out will get welded back in and sealed around where the tubes go through the floor.

FINALLY the trans case is done at powder coat, picked it up and dropped it off to Shep. Shortly after their TX2K rush is over mine should be done!!

Worked on the rust rocket a bit as well, got the fuel cell support done and fuel pump mocked up so I could shave the motor mount to fit.

As for the turd, I got the new kirky seat fully mounted in and the rear section of the driver enclosure is almost done but I have a feeling I will be redoing these two straight vertical bars just because I kind of want them about 1" inwards more...off to the scrap pile they go LOL!

Now that's a nice sunroof! :)

A lot of work, but it's starting to take shape.

Going for that Tesla style sunroof LOL. I bought a carbon roof about 2 years ago.. I can't wait to finish this car so I can finally get that thing on! Definitely a lot of work but luckily I enjoy doing this stuff.

Well I remade the vertical bars behind the seat, got 1 of the 3 horizontal harness belts in and made my template for the driver enclosure out of electrical conduit. This took FOREEVERR to make. This was probably revision #10 LOL. I am happy with how this one looks and fitment so I can bring this over to Mikes and get it bent out of some chromoly and pray it fits right haha. The tricky part I found with this was making sure I have elbow room to shift gears. With the way this one is bent I've got more than an inch between my elbow and the bar going into 4th gear.

The angle this picture is taken at makes it look like its not inline with the main hoop but I promise it is LOL. It mirrors the main hoop and then bends out a tad further down by my shoulder.

It feels good to say this, the floor is 100% done! Got the harness bars all notched and fitted. As for the enclosure bar, for making a template out of taped together conduit this thing was damn close to being perfect LOL. The last two bends need a little more bend in them. Once they are bent the top hoop part will come down and be level and will angle more inward to meet up with the other bar(see pics)

Putting the turd to the side for now because its rust rocket time! Got the trans back from Shep and boy oh boy shes a beaut clark. PPG 1-4, billet shift forks, billet bearing housing, 300m output shaft and fresh powder coat. Slapped the trans back in the car along with the fuel pump, shifter, fuel cell, turbo and intake manifold. All thats left really is fuel lines and fluids and this thing should fire up!!

Moved back over to the turd again while waiting on parts. The driver enclosure is 1 3/4" tube away from being done! Doing the door X bars next, knocking this 25.5 slowly but surely - the end is finally near!

Driver side is one more 3/4" tube away from being done! Finished up the X on the door and the helmet bar support. Ordering the rest of the u joints and things I need for the custom steering column as I will be cutting out the factory dash support next and working on mounting the steering column. The rest of the fuel fittings that I need FINALLY came in today so pending I have time to run out to pick them up tonight I might just be on pace to start the rust rocket this week or next!

Sorry for the lack of updates but so here's a big one! Life's been crazy and to make it even more hectic, we're moving!

Got the rust rocket all finished up and made it out to Forced Performance Spring Breakdown down in Marion, OH. My main goal for the race was just to dial in the new to me Buschur Racing clutch slipper/ launch device. The first 3-4 passes were just awful, it would just bog and fall on its face. We finally were able to get the car to leave granted it just did a John Force style burnout out of the hole but we were finally on to something. Some how I managed to make it to the finals however. So the finals race we turned the launch limit down 100 rpm thinking this should be perfect - aaaand it fell on its face HARD. It bogged like I didn't even have a slipper device on the car. The car went 3.2 to the 60' LOL and I stayed in it in hopes of running the other car down but I didn't. This pass I still trapped 163 though, had it left that would have been one hell of a pass, this mofo was turned up to 65 psi. After looking at the log what happened was the speed sensor wigged out, saw 50mph for a split second which turned off my slipper. This all happened while I was dropped the clutch pedal.

So at the top end of the track at 8600 rpm in 4th she blew in spectacular fashion. The car was missing bad and shut off. I ended up torching the head, warping the head and bending 2 valves. But to make matters worse I freakin shredded my carbon lip. When the car bogged the launch so hard it smacked the lip on the ground breaking it in half :(

Good new, Mike over at Buschurs was already able to get my head fixed. The heads back on the car, intake, exhaust all done just needs timed.

Enjoy a photo dump:

Here is the carnage

And of course it happens in the final round, right? For what it's worth, the car looks mean pulling up to the staging lane.

At least you didn't have to completely start over with another head.

Who ended up benefitting from your misfortune? I just realized I haven't seen the results - I'll need to bug @95GSXracer to post them in the event thread if he hasn't already.

Kevin Collins with Early Performance took the W in his auto white 1g. But at least from 2nd place payout and I got the bounty for fastest mph in competition it almost paid for fixing the head.

Ever thought about going to fire ring/top fuel hoops setup? -not the o-ring- This has happened before to Athena rings in evos after you reached certain PSI or been running them for awhile. Fire ring or hoops is what boostin has been running and they have not ever blown one. The receiver grooves in both the head and block keep them in place.

Oh man It's been a while. I haven't done much racing this year since we moved between buying the new house and selling the old this pretty much took up way too much time and what a pain in the rear. BUT, it's finally done and over with so! Here's an update on the car this year.. its been a good one.

Well when I torched the head it ended up being a bad injector. So Mike at Buschurs managed to fix the head as you all saw. I got the car back together and was just saving it for the Shootout. Keep in mind I had that stupid launch control device in the car with 0 results yet. At the shootout still trying to use this slipper I managed a 1.44 60' which I was happy with however it just destroyed my rear axle. Swapped an axle out, same tune, same launch limit, same slipper setting and it goes 1.9 while also breaking another axle. So needless to say I was done with this slipper from the first launch back in June but I tried my hardest to stick with it. I didn't really make any good passes at the Shootout I did one that I rode out to part of 4th let out to a 9.6 at 130. Here's some shootout pics.

So after Shootout I found another rear axle and swapped it in with plans to go to my local track Dragway 42. With the launch device turned off going back to old faithful my left foot. First pass was a soft launch lower boost and was pig rich the whole pass going 8.98 at 161. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got my slip. So second pass fixed fueling and it went 8.77 at 168! New PB et and mph! Third pass we turned the boost up and leaned it out even more since it was still rich and unfortunately broke another axle. But at this point I didn't care I was so ecstatic about going 8's!! FINALLY! I just bought 2 more axle shafts they should be here sometime this week so next Friday its back to the track! Both of these passes were super soft 60' at only mig 1.5's the hard part is getting the axles to stay in one piece leaving any harder LOL.

Forgive the silly question, but with those welds on the head, that doesn't impact a tight seal for the HG? Obviously it works because you're racing with it like that, just curious as to why that DOESN'T cause issues?
