What an awesome weekend at Marion County Raceway! So Friday evening I took the car out to make the first pull on the new clutch before loading it into the trailer and wa bam...shredded 3rd gear LOL. I figured I was out for the weekend until Mike at Buschur saved the freaking day! He immediately texted me and said those 4 special words: come grab the dogbox. Meanwhile Chance, Donnie and Alex were at my house from New York and Indiana so we drove out to Mikes house to grab the trans. By the time we finished it was 2:00 am but so worth it! Couple hours of sleep later we were up and at it at 7:00 getting loaded up and ready to roll! First pass off the trailer made no boost at all...I dont know if it was the beer or the fact it was a late night but we definitely forgot to tighten a t bolt clamp haha! All weekend was a battle of launching, it would either bog or do a 4 wheel smoke rolling burnout so it took some time to get the launch figured out somewhat..never really even got a good 60' all weekend - 1.53-1.59 all weekend.
first full pass 9.67 at 161! .05 off from a PB. Next pass 9.53 at 162 BOOM PB! We turned it up to about 57 psi and went 9.37 at 166! This would be the final pass of the night. The next day was eliminations and in the pro class was just me and Justin Del Col's black low 9 second evo. The finals race went something like this: I launched and broke a rear axle so I pulled over to make sure nothing was leaking, he launched and the car shut down on him he managed to get it started back up and won the race haha! So after that we agreed to re run them again for fun. Got the axle replaced and lined back up with Justin, I had a .1 second better reaction time and finished .1 seconds before him. It was door to door the entire track was such an awesome race. This was a new PB for both of us I went 9.14 at 162 and Justin went 9.10 at 160. Unfortunately all day we were driving into a 20 mph head wind so it slowed every one down. We turned it up to 60 psi and went the best of the weekend 9.10 at 163!!! So stinkin close! Another goal of mine was to get a 5 second 1/8 mile and that was also painfully close, best of 6.07 at 126!
Sorry for the long post enjoy some pics, videos coming shortly

This was the race between Justin and I, I am left lane:

So to explain the tape, my lack of headlight in the driver side was lifting the hood and bending the upper core support. It bent about 1/2"!! So we decided to be safe than sorry and voila haha. The nirtous was for Ryans white auto 2g which wasn't Cooperating right so we used it as a pre run intercooler sprayer LOL

Great pics - congrats on the PB!

How do you like the dog box?

I can tell you that a synchro trans will never be in this car again haha! I am already working on getting a dogbox for my car ASAP. It was so nice to not worry every pass - is it going to go in gear? is this the end of 3rd gear? please don't explode LOL it just WORKS and works freaking perfectly. To be honest with you I figured with the dogbox in the car first weekend out I might go 9.4's 9.5's I had no idea 9.1's were going to come so easy. game changer.

So the dogbox is back out of my car, its getting a spool and 300m output shaft because I started to twist the splines on the stock output shaft! This was already the plan anyways he wanted to do the 300m output shaft. Once the trans is all done(2 weeks or so) it's going back in my car with NLTS hooked up, along with couple other mods that you'll see here in the next week and we're sending this thing into the 8's

That's a wrap for the season! Back onto the turd! I got the mock up motor and trans in the car so I can start building the front end. Also, ended up building a pretty sweet car dolly so I can push this thing around my garage, makes working on it much easier. Tonight I'll be notching the cross bar and getting that tacked in. I'm picking up a junk head from a friend so I can get the turbo mounted on this car to start building the top section. Once is all built there's about 4,000,000 hours of welding to do between this and the cage then its off to paint!!

Got my notcher fixed thankfully(the threads got doinked that the hole saw screws onto) Got the lower cross tube notched and test fitted, lookin good! Time to get the hood on this car so I can check for bumper height and make some sort of temporary mounts to make sure the bumper doesn't move. Intercooler mocked up so I can start to think of a way to make the upper core support/intercooler mounting and I've got some pretty cool ideas. Once I pick up a junked head I can get the turbo mocked up and get measurements to get some more tubes bent to finish off the front end. Kind of sad that its coming to an end because that means I have to start prepping EVERYTHING for paint and I'm just really not looking forward to that LOL

Tossed the subframe that I forgot I had back in and bolted the rear mount up so the engine sits at the correct angle so I could get the upper supports made. This is a piece of 1" conduit as a template that I will be bringing over to Mikes house so we can bend this same thing out of chromoly. It was a part to get this thing perfect and snake right passed the turbo. Also, went and made the switch.. Sold my entire fuel system other than injectors and am finally going mechanical! Got me a FFWD setup and its baaalllerrr, picking that up this weekend. Ordered a speed factory fuel cell that will be going up front on the passenger side so I can finish building the front end. Progress, slowly but surely. Lastly, I have chosen a color but you'll just have to wait and see :)

Started playing around with the fuel cell and the upper tube for the passenger side. I ended up not liking the first rendition as it wasn't symmetrical to the driver side so I remade it again and I think I like this version better. This is still just out of 1" electrical conduit but now that I have all the bends and angles I need I can make the trip over to Mikes house and get this bend out of 1" chromoly.

This was the first version - I actually like the way this looks better but unfortunately there is no way possible to match this on the driver side - theres a freakin turbo in my way LOL

Version 2.0 - This will be what's staying since I think its more symmetrical and I'm OCD like that

There will be one more straight piece around the fuel cell where its missing but I didn't cut that because its just straight so final product will have a full "cage" around the fuel cell.

Progress!! Finally found some time to bring my bent conduit over to get bent out of chromoly. Got it all tacked into place finished up the fuel cell surround and the driver side. All that's left up front is the top core support piece and some fuel cell/intercooler mounting and its DONE!

Also, parts are startin to come in! Got my Boostin Performance billet bearing housing, 300m output shaft, Magnus billet 1-2 shift fork. Placed the order for my PPG gearset 1-4(this includes a 3-4 billet shift fork)!!! That should be in within a few weeks - how effing exciting. Also, some other goodies came in but you'll have to wait and see what that might be :)

Next week I will get my order of a crap ton of 1.5" and 1.625" chromoly tubing to finish the roll cage. I decided to beef the cage up a little so I will be doing all 4 floor bars(front to back under door bars and side to side going over/through the driveshaft tunnel). I've figured out how I want to do the rear bars and thats going to be awesome.

Enjoy some pictures

Safety third! Cage coming along nicely, 80 more feet of a mixture of 1.25, 1.50 and 1.625 chromoly on order hopefully gets here this week so I can get back at it. Floor bars front to back and side to side, dash bar and rears then its welding time! I can almost see a faint light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t wait to get this thing off to paint!

The rear section is almost done other than 2 bars but I am waiting on a new chute mount because they cage will weld to the chute mount(the one needs to stay in the black car because ill be racing that car the first half of the season) I could be done here with the cage but I've decided to put myself through more pain and do floor bars. They are all bent I just need to go pick them up, hopefully this week one night I can find time to run out to grab them.

What's the plan for the red car as opposed to the black car?
the black car is rotted to hell and back. I will be racing the black car until this red car(wont be red much longer) is done and ready to take its place. Sadly the black car will just be going to get junked - its bad LOL. All of my go fast parts are going on the red car with the only difference of it will be on Fueltech 550 vs ECMlink. I'll be staying on ECMlink on the black car just to try to get that 8 sec ECMlink slip. Plus the obvious, the red car will be much safer and lighter as every piece of tubing on the car is chromoly whereas the black car its all mild steel.

FINALLY! I've been wanting one of these since they came out. About time I pulled the trigger and ordered one. This one has the base plate with the mount for the wilwood staging brake and both lockouts. I have a new shift arm on order that is steel vs alum and 2" shorter so I can run the Fueltech strain gauge and not have it sit up higher than the dash LOL. A few other parts came in, got my fuel pressure regulator and quick release steering wheel hub. Last night I unloaded the black car from hibernation in the trailer back into the garage to get it ready to go for the year. The trans should be done today or tomorrow from powder coat and then its ready to go to Shep to get the PPG gearset in!!

you can see how much shorter the silver arm is than the black one
