2007 Audi - Radio won't turn off??

I know it says non technical questions, but I love DSM Tuners and don't feel like going to any other site to ask questions.

I just got a 2007 Audi A4 and the guy took the radio out and kept it.

So I have an aftermarket JVC radio I tried to put in, hooked up the RED, BLACK, and YELLOW wires. The radio powers on and won't turn off when I put the key in, take the key out, open the door, close the door.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you crossed the 12v and acc wires. Red is usually 12v for memory and acc sb yellow. Use a voltmeter and check for 12v when cycling the key. That’s the easiest way to find 12v and acc

Wait!!! That might not matter.

I'm lost, dude I got the car from said his radio worked just fine, and the JVC worked in my other car just fine.

It also has a ISVE61 premium output converter wired in, but I don't have any of those wires going to my radio, they are all taped up. Also the antenna wire has an adapter wire on it, as the factory Audi radio has a sirus XM antenna on them, so had to buy an antenna harness that will hook up to a normal radio, it has a blue wire (booster wire) coming out of it, it's hooked up to the AMP wire of the car.

Other than that, it's just an aftermarket Audi radio wiring harness with the normal wires on it.

I did notice that if the BLACK (ground) wire isn't hooked up, there is a clicking noise in the dash behind the steering wheel, sounds like something is turning off and on.

Wonder if it has to do with steering wheel control??? See if they sell an adapter. It has to be the wiring if it’s not turning off

Well with the Pioneer touchscreen he had in the car, he didn't have any of the steering wheel controls hooked up and it worked just fine for him. I'm going to try and swap RED / RED and YELLOW / YELLOW wire and see what happens. Gonna do RED > Yellow and RED > YELLOW instead of RED > RED and YELLOW > YELLOW. Other than that I have no damn idea, it's totally stumped me.

FIXED IT!

watched a video on an older 2004 A4 and they said the germans didn't put in a 12V SWITCHED pin to the radio, so I was wondering why there was a green wire hanging out of the dash. I hooked up

BLACK > BLACK
YELLOW > YELLOW
RED > THAT UNKNOWN GREEN WIRE

radio now comes on when I turn the key on and goes off when I turn it off. So the red wire on the radio harness isn't needed. now to hook up my speakers and hope they work

The German companies have everything ran through the can network, radio on radio off clock to the radio so it displays the same time that the dash does, yup welcome to the world of overthought cars.

Well, now my speakers don't get any sound. So now I gotta figure out what goes where for those.

I encountered similar issues in my Volvo. Got fed up and took it to a car audio store near me. They said something about having to run an extra wire to the radio harness that metra didn't supply.

European car electronics are a bear. If you give up like I did it only cost me $125 to have it professionally done

Seems the guy I got the car from kept an important wiring harness when he took the radio out. So I now have to buy that harness to get my speakers working.
