Can't wait to see the final outcome!!

So, Yet again I haven't update this in some time. The last I posted I still had the FP manifold on the setup. I wasn't able to get the combo spooled on the converter using the FP manifold. For testing purposes we thought we would try my old header to see if that would help. Turned out it made a huge difference! My spool times instantly went from 21 seconds to make 7psi, to 18 seconds to make 16psi. After some tweaking these numbers have improved greatly. This goes to show that a proper header design can have large affects! People that spend time to make, un equal length, headers with a poorly designed collector are definitely leaving hp and transient response on the table. We saw gains of 10-15 ft/lbs under the boost curve with our header over the FP manifold. Once we got the combo working well enough to make some passes I went bracket racing. On 25 psi we running 10.40s at 134 pretty consistently. Turned it up to 30 psi and 9.90s - 10.0s @ 138 were the average. typical 60 ft became 1.45-1.47 depending on air and the track prep.

Last Wednesday I decided it was time to turn it up to 40 psi. On the dyno this netted us 600whp at 8300. I had to make several short passes for my IHRA license. Doing this worked out well since I was able to dial in the tune a bit more. It was also kinda fun seeing peoples reaction when I'd lift at the 1/8th and still run 10.0s :). On our first all out pass we Broke the FP Black record with a 9.32 @ 149.

We went to make another pass and turn the launch boost up a bit. Couldn't get it hooked and aborted the pass. Plans from there were pretty much leave the car in the trailer and get to shootout. Haltech Invited us to pit in there Vendor both this year which was very cool! On our first qualifying pass we turned the boost to 48psi and let it eat. Unfortunately the combo of the tune being a touch on the lean side, and the rad cap coming off somewhere around half track resulted in a poor first pass with a 9.35@ 147. Although I cut my best 60ft time with a 1.37. Back in the pits everything checked out ok, Filled it back up with water added some fuel, and waited for next round. The next pass didn't begin well, The car spun pretty good, enough to wear I had to steer it a bit. cut a 1.44 60ft. Around 1000ft out i felt it nose over and lifted, coasting to a 9.45 @ 146. We ended up loosing a head gasket and that ended our weekend. We were all disappointed, but in this environment things happen. I currently have the head off, aprt, welded up, and decked. have to finish t something new I'm trying that I will post about later, and re assemble the head. We are planning to get it back running next week sometime. We are still shooting for that 8 sec pass on the FP black. We may have to try harder then I had originally thought, but I Believe it is an attainable goal. On another note, If I go faster than a 9.21 I believe that puts me in the top 100 fastest DSMs! Here are some pics of the shootout weekend and a couple others, as well as a video of the 9.35 pass at shootout.

Thanks for keeping up with us, and for everyone who stopped by to chat at shootout. There is more to come with this for sure, and we look forward to pushing this setup even harder before the season is over.

Kinda of an "end of an ERA" for me personally. Although we continue to work on, and improve the 4G63 platform, its going to be strange not having this car anymore. Here is the past 3 years, in 5 minutes.

Haven't sold the car yet, been selling a few parts off of it. Mostly to customer at this point. Soon I'll start listing stuff I have left. Debating on selling the roller. Or parting it completely. . If I part it, I'm not sure what to do with the shell..
