I'm putting in a Supra side mount in my 1G Talon and for the people that have done it when installed does the Supra side mount fit all the way up so it is even where the stock one was at??? What I mean is if you look under the car will the Supra sit lower or will it sit up high where the stock one sat.

thanks

Pat

The bottom of the intercooler will stick out from the bottom a bit.

The first time we put the intercooler on, it stuck out about an inch twards the wheel. It took about two different mounting attempts to get it fully hidden.

Depends how patient you are. I have done a supra smic on a 1g and 2g, neither were hacked a bit. It can be done without bashing the frame or anything like that.

Just take your time with making proper brackets.

It's tough to get it situated just right. Use t-bolt clamps on it to prevent blowing off. Seemed to be a good gain for me when I had it.

I'm thinking of going with either the Supra MKIV or Dejon Tool large side-mount for my upgrade, although I'd rather go the Supra route if I can score one cheaper. My question is, do you need to manipulate the intercooler piping much to match up the Supra intercooler?

The Supra side mount inlet and outlet are 2.5. I scored upper and lower Dejon tool 2.5 piping with the larger elbows. The Supra side mount is huge compared to the stock one and I could see it being hard to situate. I guess I'll find out this weekend rather then Thursday. For the guys that have done this is this going to be a pretty big gain with the larger piping and the Supra side mount.

No. This allows you to ask more out of your turbo setup. Just putting this on will result in no noticable difference.

Hmmm the guy I got my piping from got a noticable gain from just the piping. Faster reving and way quicker spool up. I understand that the larger IC will help work my turbo better meaning I hope it holds my power at the upper RPMs longer

;)

A bungee cord is basically all that's needed.

you cant even hate on that fitment though.

Wrong. There was quite a noticable difference when my friend put his on. The difference was going from dead even against him in races, to him putting 3-4 cars on me from 40-100mph. Another local also dyno'd before and after his Supra IC and made about 20whp more with the Supra IC and his Big T28, but that will vary with turbo.

How is that ghetto? How is something that works and functions properly ghetto?

Maybe he meant ghetto strapped on? But I liek the idea of how you put it on there, makes me want to get a suprasidemouint and not save up for a fmic.

Well I ran into some problems but cured most of them and the only problem left is needing another elbow because the angle of the Supra inlet is way off and just one elbow wasn't enough to mate with my Dejon tool lower piping. I cut everything I needed to to make it fit best I could but on a 1G there isn't much room at all. I also bought a Dejon tool side mount that has larger inlet and outlet that I put on for now.
Performance was great so far but the computer hasn't really adjusted yet. Seems like faster reving and quicker spool up so far but have not drove it long enough to see. Also the idle was bumped up a bit so I'm going to have to adjust that and the biss. Stay tooned for the next adventure on the Supra side mount saga.

Oh Aaron comment on the bungee was a joke!!!!!!!!!! But his fitment is perfect and mine looked close to that but not as good because mine is a 90 with pop ups and they interfere with the piping.

You have to cut the hole for the UIP as far outwards and forward as possible to get the SMIC to fit in a good spot.

Wow I got to try this there are plenty of those IC around that I know off... If its true that it works then I guess I could try it... Hey About the COMPUTER not adjusting have anyone have any problems from this upgrade 6 months down the road "example"????
Would I be able to tell any difference from a stock 1991 GSX??? I just brought it and dont know much about them but will do learn all that I can just like I did with my 97 RS. Any hints on what to do with upgrades Too???? :)
