I installed two spal 12" slim line fans in my 91 Laser. Today car overheated. Question is did I need to retain the sensor/ thermo that is bolted on the drivers side? I disconnected it becuase it was on the ac fan and I do not have ac anymore.
I did read the vfaq on the wiring but i did not want to hook it up to a switch. The way i wired it was I used the plugs/wiring on the passenger side. I retained the plug behind the pass headlight and the plug that goes into the bottom of the radiator. I then spliced from there into the two fans. After install I did test to make sure they kicked on.
They both would kick on but only for 10 seconds. Have not driven car for a week and this morning it overheated. So my question is, Do I need to do anything with the box/sensor that bolts on to the AC fan. I know I can just wire it to a switch and be done but that is not my goal.
