So I bought someone's project car last week, car does not start but cranks with no spark. I haven't had a chance to really work on it and figure out more about the car but it has a 7 bolt (I think) with a 1 g CAS. I suspect this is 1 reason among others why the car won't start, I want to revert this change. Is it as simple as putting back the 2g CAS?

Also I have bunch of unplugged connectors from the wiring harness that I can't seem to locate, anyone know where these might go before I start taking stuff off to figure it out?

Thanks

check out this:

download the service manual, vol.2 is the electrical

as far as the cam sensor, it depends on the year of the head and the year of the ecu.
take off the 1g sensor and look the end of the cam, if it has a threaded hole you can run a 2gb cam sensor

take the cover off the cam gears, does your intake cam gear have a round plate bolted to the back side of it?

if it does you also need to check the head for the holes to bolt the cam sensor. i'll try to post a picture later.
but if it has plate and the mounting holes you can use a 2ga sensor.

you need to also know the year of the ecu because if you use a 95-96 ecu with a 1g or 2gb cam sensor you need to swap a few thing around

Awesome thanks for that link

I'll take a look at the cam gears tonight and hopefully get to the ECU as well

The guy also gave me an extra ECU that has a ECM link chip in it
MD312464 I believe that's a 94 year ecu?

I'm still learning these cars but I couldn't pass up this deal. He had a bunch of extra parts I eventually wanted to buy.
Hopefully I can get the car started and figured out but seems like the previous owner was messing around with a lot of electrical stuff.

that part # is for a 95AWD

what year is the car?
besides your connectors that are unplugged
your main problem might not be the cam sensor, it may just be a mismatch of the ecu to cam sensor.

The car is a 97, not sure if original engine yet I have to get the vin and check.

Can that ECU only be used for a 95 gsx or are they interchangeable?
