I am currently in the process of building a 1g AWD Laser, the plan is to have the car running 10s and to be putting somewhere in the mid 400s whp. I am looking to break some records for whats currently posted on the site as far as a 20g turbo.

The background of the car. It has been tossed around, hacked, whacked, and neglected. For instance, right before it got in my hands, it went through 2 kids in 4 weeks. Both of them "tuner" kids, who didnt no squat about a DSM. The first kid bought it as a project (my friend) and paid $1500, but was overwhelmed and sold it to a buddy, he paid $1500. Then I came along, talked with the kid, said he just wanted to get rid of it, so only $1000. Not bad right? Well this all happened within 1 day, messaged him, we talked, had my buddy drive it for me while i was at work. Show up later that night with my friend. Now to say I low balled him isnt exactly true, i pointed out simple things that i was going to have to replace.

Well, this isnt my first DSM, so i had a good idea what i was looking at. The car is a 92 Laser RS AWD, with 140k on it (who knows if thats real). The car had rust, it has a CEL, bad shock, grind in 2nd, a it had a lot of things. Not all bad, it came with a AEM Wideband, Maf-Translator, 3" GM MAF, Meagan 3" downpipe and exhaust, and a Aeromotive AFPR. Oh by the way, did I mention i took it home that night for $500? :thumb:

Yup, only $500. It was the end of Oct and took it home, and started tearing it down. It has been a cold and hard winter here in MI so i didnt even work on it. However the parts have been piling up on the kitchen table.

Here are some pictures from the day I bought it, new pics coming soon. It also has a talon rear bumper, and also I just purchased a talon front bumper to match. The car will also be getting a paint job come mid spring.

Get her together! at least it wasnt too messed up. I've bought a couple dsm's for parts from kids that were absolutely destroyed, hacked, spliced, hanging, coat-hangered piles of crap. Even the one tsi I am using for parts now for my awd del sol swap was pretty ghetto rigged. Its sad...

So before I start installing everything in the car I needed to put the cross member in and also start to clean the engine bay. There is just so much grease and dirt in there and its disgusting. So today was the install and a little cleaning. Also decided to put bed liner on the wheel wheels, came out really nice. Forgot to take some pictures however.

Here are the before and after of the crossmember. Its pretty simple and straight forward so I figure I dont need to do a full install picture guide.

Dont mind the surface rust, that will be getting sanded and painted soon. Lots of little "cleaning" going on in the engine bay at the moment.

Thanks to Paul Volk for hooking me up!

Alright guys, its been awhile since i posted and i have gotten a decent amount done. Got the parts back from the powder coater and installed them, as well as got the turbo mounted and everything else. I also got the rear bumper bolted up, original owner used zip ties, so my friend and myself welded tabs on the back of the car and did it right.
The parts back from my guy.

Also had to deal with some busted bolt threads, which is never fun. After that i put the new radiator in, along with injectors and a few other odds an ends.

When i bought the car it had the originial laser bumper, which i just didnt like personally so i decided to get a talon bumper. While i was at it, the fender was also damaged so i replaced that as well. There is paint in the near future for the car.

Oh did i mention i got a Evo 9 FMIC? It was my buddys from his old car and he had it laying around so he figured it was better used on my car so he hooked me up. Thanks Edwin!

Lastly, here is a few shots of the current engine bay. (The parts look blue but are actually purple when there is good light) Installed a few other things, like strut bars, new intercooler piping, the 3"maf, ect. I still have to wire up a few things, but most is done. I also relocated the battery to the trunk. I will have some more pics on that later.

Still a decent amount of stuff to post but thats it for today.

Just a quick update, the car is almost complete. With the recent purchase of a house I put the car on hold, she fired up the other day but it was just to test the car real quick. Now I also bought a smim the other day and just installed that.

I have a few things to do still like drain the tank and re install the 1600 injectors as well as getting my ecu repaired.

Posting pics soon.
