1g Auto shifting problem

When my ato shifts from 1-2 i get a bad sputter sometimes it even cuts out. Has anyone else had this problem? This is my 7th turbo DSM but first auto. It is a 91 GSX btw.
 
This might not be the culprit, but i had a similar problem and it turned out to be my ECU was loose and not getting a good ground.
 
ecu powers down the ignition/injection during upshifts but im going to say sticking clutch pack.oh only does it in power mode-well its electrical.auto control unit or ecu.
 
it has an mt ecu that i know is good. in power it pops and sputters only on the 1-2 upshift at wot. On economy it shifts at 6k but shifts good with no sputter. Does the a/t ecu control anything differently than a m/t ecu? I know of the injectors but thats all im sure of.
 
slight tuning differences but i dont think it has different components.is your car crazy rich?
 
i might be wrong here but if u have a mt ecu did u ever think maybe the ecu has no idea what to do when u turn "power" mode on because a mt doesnt have any such thing? to me it sounds like something electrical, most likely ur ecu, and if u have swapped out the stock ecu thats a good place to start checking for the cause
 
The Tcu is what changes the settings when you push the power button, not the Ecu.
 
You are exactly correct. The TCU controls the timing retard (power/economy). Anyhow I have a 1992 talon tsi awn auto with a GVR4 manual tranny motor, 14b turbo, 450c injectors, and a manual ecu. It runs just fine in power mode so that definitely kills that theory. Because it's fine in economy, it could be the tcu, but probably not. I wonder if you are getting some kind of fuel cut? Maybe if you described the problem a little more. Sputtering doesn't sound like a tranny problem. Like I said before, the button controls the timing retard.
