I have a 99 GST Spyder. The car runs but needs work. It was going to be a project car but I don’t have the time to put in to do it at this time. So the car is just sitting and I would rather see it go to someone who wants to keep the project going. I would like to sell everything together but I will sell things separately if I need to. PM me if you are interested in whole project. You can PM if you are interested in parts but I want to give the project a little time. I will provide photos upon request if there is real interest.
Here is what I have:
1999 GST Spyder. Black.
Car is in excellent shape. Had a decent respray just before I got it and I have had it covered ever since. The convertible top is in great shape and the expensive motor works but someone had disconnected the linkage at some point. Also have the convertible boot. I have stock chrome rims. Interior is in great shape with only a slight tear on driver seat.
Currently has a Glow Shift Wideband and Boost Gauge installed. An NGR blow-off is installed and a Megan short shift kit.
Here is what is going on with it now. The car started to smoke a bit out the tailpipe and I thought I blew the turbo oil seal. I replaced the stock turbo with a known good working used stock turbo. The compression was at 150 – 170 per cylinder but I think the smoke is coming from oil getting past piston rings. So the vehicle needs to be torn down and I would suggest a rod & piston change (since it is open). You will probably need to machine the heads & block surface, bore the cylinders over a bit, polish the crank, replace main bearings, etc… Or you could find a performance block that you could just swap. The first gear synchro is a little tired. You just have to slow down a bit to pop into first sometimes. I paid $4600.00 for the car. It has 120K miles.
Here are the parts that I have for the car that are new and are not installed.
I have a full timing belt kit w/ tools. Gates Racing Tbelt, OEM Tensioner Adjuster, OEM Tensioner Pulley, OEM Idler Pulley, OEM Balance Pulley, OEM Balance Shaft Belt. Cost $368.00
Billet TH06SL2-20g build by Justin (JusMX) Cost $950.00
4 Avid Urethane Moto Mounts Cost $200.00
Halman Manual Boost Control Cost $184.00 (Has under dash / glove controller)
FP Cast Manifold with ceramic coating Cost $480.00
VRSF FMIC with J Pipe Cost $365.00
Walpro High Flow Fuel Pump Cost $195.00
Fuelab FPR Cost $209.00
FIC 1100HZ Fuel Injectors Cost $530.00
Punishment Racing O2 Housing Cost $290.00
Punishment Racing 3” Down Pipe Cost $160.00
Mishimoto Catch Can Cost $95.00
Kiggly HP Oil Unit Cost $200.00
FP Inline Oil Filter Cost $70.00
Hawk Front & Rear Pads Cost $140.00
Total Cost of New Parts: $4276.00 (Not including Wideband, Boost Gauge, NGR BOV and Megan Shifter Cost $450 for those items)
I also have AXIS Widetrack 18” Wheels. 18x9 +42 Offset, 5x114 $1000.00
Bridgestone Pole Position 255/35/18 (70% life left) Tires $1000.00
Total Invested in project $11500.00 +
I want to see if anyone would be interested in the project as a whole for $7000.00.
I figure I can get $3000.00 for car, $4000.00 for parts and $1200 for wheels and tires with a little work. Save me the trouble and save big (Save $1200.00 as a package) on a great project. I wish I had taken over a project and saved some money.
Figure on 2K-3K to prep motor or swap block and then you will have spent what I have but you will have a block capable of at least 600 horse and my setup can net you 500 at wheels with E85. Super fast and super strong. I was planning on running my setup at 400 rwhp until the stock block gave up and then I was going to build it. I have my own business now and it takes 110% of my time. I keep telling myself I will get to it but I’d rather see one of you enjoy it. You can probably have it torn down it 2 days, send engine parts to get machined and put back together in 2 days. The only thing you will need is to pick out your exhaust (I hadn’t done that yet) and I would recommend Kiggly Beehive Springs and valves when you get the head machined.
Thank you for your time.
