Hi guys, just picked up a 1995 eagle talon tai in a trade for a sr20 engine and trans. car is in pieces, which i fine for me since its going to be my fiancés because she loves these cars. so I want to go throughout the whole car and make sure its 100% and safe for her. heres some pics :) ps... ill have a lot of questions so pardon my noobness since I'm a toyota guy and these are very different/cheap then what I'm used too. also where can a get an oem passenger door lock cylinder? i don't have a latch but i already have one coming in the mail

well here are my pistons. I'm sketched out by the scratches on the skirts. what do you guys think?

74C8EE59-A9C4-4186-8CE2-7679EFF05A62_zpsvcosb1u6.jpgyup so i need new pistons and rods indefinitely. no chance of saving them. i finally took a good look and idk how i missed this the first time. i just hope the block is ok. the piston squirter in cylinder 1 is broken.... this needs to go get checked out asap LOL

Ouch. Yeah, replace the pistons, and definitely check the block. Those scratches look a little deep.
 
But it doesn't show it in the crank. No scarring or anything to the bearing surfaces. And no color change. I was thinking over boost since it does have after market parts to the car
 
Someone got lucky I would go ahead and spend the money to build the engine and be done with it
 
I feel your pain. I'm waiting for a remanufactured engine to get here, so I can rebuild mine in my spare time.
 
well having 2 projects means absolutely no cash LOL. and i now have to do a rf wheel bearing in my fiancee sunfire so no fun money this month
