Well, its been a while since I've posted one of these, but its also been a while since I've had a lot of time to work on the car. Since my spring semester is winding to a close its time to study...

Anyways, I've officially stopped all of the leaks from my car! Thats pretty nice.
Although the power steering still isn't working. After posting a thread on it I suppose I'll just bleed the piss out of it to see what happens ROFL
Trying to get it ready for the spring cruises and Cars and Coffee's, and I'm this close!

Well, my power steering is working well now! Turns out I just didn't have the belt tight enough. After a lot of bleeding to the system, figured I'd just tightened the belt and it worked. Now, all thats left on my car "issue wise" is to solve my fuel cut (and some rust treatment on my rear hubs). The fuel cut will be solved with a Walbro 255 and a tune on my black box. Finally a DSM without any major issues! Time to knock on some wood though...

I just had my first professional picture day yesterday!!! It cost me nothing since it was a friend who did it for me, and I just love the pictures. It’s a shame my paint doesnt look better ROFL

Bit of a parts haul here! The Mishimoto stuff is to replace the 1 radiator fan I currently have (the AC condenser fan up front quite literally melted due to an exhaust leak near the turbo) and overall just help the heat under my hood dissipate a bit more.
And, the real B&M short shift kit will be a nice touch for the transmission, although its probably going to have to come off that shifter base :barf:

What is the nominal compression ratio of the pistons in your engine?
not sure why I never got this notification to be honest, but in all honesty I dont have a clue. They are the .020 over bore weisco/eagle combo that seems to be run by everyone LOL

Are you sure that's real? I've never seen a B&m with any other color than blue. Purple is used by Megan racing...
same for this, never got the notification. must have gotten buried in a bunch of others.
Yeah there is potential i got burned. I bought it off of tuners a while back figuring mostly everyone on here is honest/knowledgeable, but who knows. Even if i did get burned, i dont really care at this point since i have MUCH more to focus on for this car.

Speaking of, lots is changing for this car. Got ECMLink v3 to install, and a 20g with some 750cc's that will be going in to replace my leaky 14b. Car munched its 2nd mishimoto fan recently so i'll have to order another one of those too :banghead:

Currently at school so i have limited time to work on the car, but i did just get my innovative AFR/boost gauge installed and powered on, so once i calibrate it im gonna take the car for a drive and pray i have stupid high AFR's.
Thankfully im young as well so i can cable manage in a hilariously comfortable position like in the picture ROFL

*Wolf whistles*

But man, good progress. I do love how the 2GA talons look with the 2GB Eclipse frumper. I have mishimoto fans on the 1G right now but the previous owner said he had some overheating problems so I'm kinda curious how these are working out for you. On my 2G GSX with just a knockoff mishimoto radiator and the OEM fans, it cooled like a boss. So I never had overheating problems on the 2G.

Thats funny, since Im starting to NOT like how my 2ga looks with it ROFL
(its a cheap bumper so it just doesnt fit right, if you saw it in person you'd know)

The reason my car overheats is because, hopefully, my car is running hella lean right now since its untuned on stock injectors, a 14b, and a stock ecu, and just will not stay cool for the life of itself. And im on a stock radiator so i may have to get a new aluminum rad soon like you.

All things to figure out once i figure out my AFR's and get my new turbo/injector combo in the car. Thanks though!

It would have to run so lean that the exhaust manifold would glow cherry red, and at that point under any kind of boost you'd be picking up the engine with a pasta strainer. Lol.

I however have heard a lot that the 2Gs struggle with overheating and FMIC's. Maybe I'm the outlier? Maybe try to build some ducting from the FMIC to the radiator with some cardboard and duct-tape and see if that fixes it. If it does, then make some out of a thicker material like ABS.

or get a aluminum rad. That helped drop my temps by like 20*. Not even kidding. Also, do you have the OEM heatshields for the turbo and exhaust manifold? If not, those will help immensely.

Believe me, i've tried it ALL. Ducting, oem heat shielding, a vented carbon fiber hood, a 3rd fan on the front of the AC condenser, legit nothing helped aside from when it was 30* outside...

Edit: i also tried like 2 or 3 new thermostats, no help there either.

Yeah starting a couple months ago I all of a sudden don't get email notifications for hardly anything anymore. I have to go in and read the "bell".

The reason I asked is because I was hoping that the nominal compression ratio on your car would be 9:1 or lower. Because that will make it easier for you to avoid detonation (knock) in the tune of your car, especially on gasoline.

So I read the numbers off the Wiseco box in a picture you guys showed a while back, and it looks good.
Looks to me like yours are the 1400HD part # 626M855AP which STM shows in a chart that I'll post here.
It's the 3rd one down from the top in this list.
They show the compression ratio as 8.6 to 1. So that is good. You really wouldn't want it any higher than 9 to 1 on pump gas.

Wiseco piston chart with part numbers for the 7-bolt DSM 1400HD pistons like on TheDude and TS...PNG

Here's the STM page:

Im lucky to have a local DSM Wiseman, he's to credit for that piston/rod combo and guy who rebuilt my engine, so I fully trust his info like that. Tuners is great sometimes, but I'll admit that having a more personal connection is way more helpful sometimes, especially when your clutch goes out the day after you get your car delivered to you ROFL

Anyways, Im grateful to a lot of users on here for giving me the drive again to work on my car again.
More updates will come as I get them, cheers everyone!

If you're not a fan of the 2gb front, I have that spare 2gb talon bumper in my garage. It's been hanging up there for almost 10 years, so you're welcome to it if you want.
I was going to ask about that! You read my mind. Next time I get the chance to swing by I will for sure take it off of your hands. If you ever find a 2gb rear bumper somehow in TN as well let me know, I'm basically desperate for one at this point LOL

Collecting parts slowly and surely. Getting a radiator and fan in here soon, and look at this pretty little piece that showed up today :p
Onto work on it this weekend! Its truly been too long…

Gorgeous. And those eBay turbine housings flow so good, especially when you port the wastegate hole(which I assume he did). Should be a fun street car!

There's currently a white 2GB at the Birmingham Pull-A-Part. I know you pass through Alabama sometimes so it might be worth bringing a truck next time you come around and grabbing the rear bumper. It's been there for over a month so it's probably stripped mostly bare but the bumper could still be there. I can go have a look at it on Sunday to save you a trip but I'm not sure how much longer they're going to let it sit before scrapping it.

Crap. Im in Huntsville and leaving back for TN soon so likely wont be able to make it. If you could go and check that would be absolutely amazing 🙏🏻

If there's ever a 1G, pull the driver's side door panel for me(if it's power windows). I need one bad!

It's an RS and it's been there for 2 months. I panicked for a second because I thought it slipped by my weekly check. But I doubt there's anything useful left.

Something I've realized is that they have been marking all of them as an RS. I have a high rise spoiler, wiper hatch, sunroof components all supposedly from RS models that were really GS. And to be fair, just about any parts for these cars is useful regardless which submodel they're from. We're at that point. Hell you should see how much people are willing to pay on Ebay for this stuff.

I guess I'm just spoiled by the Nashville location then. They're usually spot on with their listings.
