I need help on performance tips for my 1.8. I don't want to do any swaps or anything like that. I just want to get a little juice out of her. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!! :talon:

I am assuming that the 99rs you have listed under your name isnt the car that you are talking about, since the 2nd gens only have the 2.0 as a base. Anyway I used to have a 93 laser 1.8 and I was in the same boat you are in, it is insane on how hard it is to fine performance mods for your car. The few things i can think of would be to hack your airbox, you can get a little better air flow. Or you can go to a Muffler shop and have them custom build you a cat-back exhaust, this will allow you to pick up a few extra HP. There a alot of other things but they will put a dent in your wallet. Hey or you can just sell your 1.8 and buy a turbo, or at least a 2.0 J/K!!!!!!!!! I feel your pain if anyone tells you that, some of us just dont have the resources to buy a new car.. :(

uhhh didnt you just have another thread about this exact topic?

try installing a universal 4 cylinder nitrous kit on it. that would give you some "juice" :p

I still do have the 99rs but i just want a project to do right now. I do have some mods to the rs but nothing special. But do you know of any web sites for these 1.8L?? :talon:

if I were to do a motor swap, would the 4g63 fit in there or will I need to do the tranny also. I don't need to worry about the mounting brackets a buddy of mine can do that for me. :talon:

You can get a catback exhaust.
www.howellautomotive.com any 2.0 non turbo exhaust will fit as long as it says it will fit your year, i would recomend getting a hi flow cat with this exhaust it helps with airflow. that is where i got my exhaust, it helps the 1.8 alot with its 2.5in pipeing and hi flow muffler. i noticed i got alot better gas milage with this cat back and hi flow cat.
Any 2.0 nonturbo intake will fit the 1.8, they do make one for the 1.8 but its worthless
because its right beside the exhaust manifold and it would just suck up the hot air from it. They did make a underdrive pulley for the 1.8 and they still might but there hard to find.
hope this helps... Cory ;)
