Sup i just got my 97 NT eclipse and since basketball season was taking up all my time.. i wasnt able to get any $$ or have any time to mod. I am really new to DSM modding but I'm quite determined. I've been on dsmtuners probably 15 hours in the last 3 days reading everything i can about routes to take and how stuff works. My personal goal is not anything more than a low-to-mid 13 second car. Right now.. i have quite a long wishlist in my profile but I think all of it will help me to reach 13's. Any tips you more experienced tuners have for me? Changes in my list to optimize my potential. I realized some of u are probably lazy so heres my wishlist:

HRC 2 -OR- SS 2 TURBO KIT (not sure which yet)
i plan on just going 7-8 psi on my stock motor until...
after internal engin work(stronger pistons/rods/titanium valves/stronger rings)
then i'll be shooting 17-19 psi
gReddy or HKS BOV
injen CAI
cams
ceramic headers (not sure if i want 4-1 or 4-2-1)
2.5" -or- 3.0" exhaust
NGK sparkplugs and wires
fuel injection
sticky tires
lighter rims
suspension
strutbar
carbonfiber hood
brakes
maybe NOS.. a very small shot if any
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
sorry for the long post, but i've done enough reading had to regurgitate(sp?) it!

well yer first step should be going here 2gnt tuners they have step by step instructions on what to do with yer N/T how much it'll cost and yer performance gains. If your not surfing 2gnt weekly, or even daily, you dont belong near a 2gnt dsm :D

happy tuning!:thumb:

Hey welcome....to help you out a little bit....

I would recommend the star turbo kit. you get a front mount intercooler, a bigger turbo, and its cheaper. You cannot use a header on a non turbo car, there is no place for the turbo to bolt up to. The star/hahn turbo kits come with the manifold that you will need to use. The boost on your stock motor seems to be good, and when you upgrade the internals then 17-19 psi is definately reasonable, just make sure you have the proper fuel mods....255 pump, 650cc injectors, APEXi SAFC to control it all....and you will definately need a fuel pressure regulator just to help tune the car and make sure the air/fuel mixture is proper.

You said "injen CAI" well i hate to break it you ya, but u cant use a cold air intake either. The place where the intake goes into now becomes the place where your intercooler piping goes into. Intake pipes on turbo cars bolt directly to the turbo and that and the air filter are also included in the turbo kit.

Hope i helped ya out, if u need ne more questions just respond to this post or go ahead and PM me...!

thanks.. all help appreciated. Ryder, i had that in my brain but i guess i just didnt put it all together. I guess i'll just live with stock performance until i get my Star kit instead of waste money on stuff that i'll have to remove anyways.

"Fastest way to 14's in a 2gnt goes something like this:

75 shot of nitrous
catback
Cai
Under drive pully
A header
nice tires

Thats the route I took

*oops you said 13's *"

By end of May i should have:

75 wet shot, Cat-back, CAI, a 4-1 Header, No Cat, Underdrive Pulley, Cam Gears, Titanium Valve Springs, 450cc Injectors, P&P Intake Manifold, P&P tb, P&P Cylinder Head. What reliability be an issue? What do u think i'd run, im hopin low 14s hehe

If you get a cold air now, you can always cut it when you get the turbo, and mount it to your turbo. but i heard that cold air can slow your turbo down. i dunno its just what i heard. i was planning on cutting mine when i get my turbo, but i dunno if there will be room for the sidemount too?

LEARN TO LAUNCH AND SHIFT THE FWD...thats the BIGGEST key i think...stock you can just about break into 15s with just awesome driving...im running low 15s with catback and intake, and my driving still sucks (from my opinion)...i will be breaking into the 14s with about 3 engine mods soon..

for real, i think the biggest key is just to learn how to launch this thing..

3 mods? Those mods just be turbo, internals and exhaust:confused:

No way in hell are you running 15's in a near stock 2gnt. try 16.5

ya im gonna have to agree that low 15's might be pushing it a little bit. with the mods you have and some good driving you could easily be in the 15's, but low 15's? thats stock GS-T type times, and i dont think you would be able to stick with them. your probably pushing a max of about 157hp, if that. we have pretty much the same mods. to be running the same as a car with 210hp, thats either one crazy factory freak or your the best driver in the world

by "my driving still sucks" i mean that it can stil be improved..im still bogging on my launches a little bit and stuff, and yea, i will definately post my slip in early april. hopefully the weather permits a good run, but ill def be in the mid to high 15s

ya the mid to high 15's sounds a little more resonable. i got the same mods as you and im a pretty good driver, i get pretty good launches, and im not trying to boast, but i have a pretty quick shift too, and i know i couldnt run low 15's. i definatly would be in the 15's but probably high.

yea mid to high is more common..ive hit a 15.3, but that was in the cold, etc. we'll see. ill post it.

good luck to you too

yes i look forward to see what you can accomplish... bring some pride to us N/T's. good luck
