Nope! Reversing direction would be great for oil pickup, But…. It would be terrible for fuel pick up! So pick your poison 😂 I would definitely need to add a surge tank. But reversing the direction is not an option on many many tracks, because of exit design, it would not be safe to race in the...
This was with Kiggly HLA regulator! ;)This was a two lap race, which is unusual for spectator drags and you can see that I had enough capacity for one lap, but not for two. Looks like it too 1.5 lap to fill my head with our and reach the VC vents.
At the end of the year, I went to Hudson Speedway for some testing. The good news, Moroso oil pan is working! I didn’t run out of oil!The bad news, all that oil collecting in the head and being pushed to the right, eventually made its way to the engine VC vents, down the tubes and onto the...
You are closer than you know! ;)My old friend Gus Mahon, was a pioneer of FWD Turbo Dodges! He had the original fast minivan, back in the mid 90’s! He ran 13.3 in his minivan, long before it was considered possible! It was his van that gave me an idea to build an AWD Mitsubishi version...
I have been to many shootouts, starting with 1996, I only misses 3-4 years and that included last two years. But this year was especially special because after breaking my back in 2019, I wasn’t sure I will be able to attend again…But I made it, brought my recently painted Summit, was able to...
Mitsubishi had THE right formula back in 80’s and 90’s: turbo 4 cylinder and AWD! Now just about everyone is using this format, EXEPT for Mitsubishi….I really hope they get their act together!
Man, this sucks :( . Is it me or it is almost always donuts/burnouts that ruin car events? At Epping NH IFO (where they had record attendance at IFO event), they must have had 5-6 police officers. I am surprised track owner got involved...But this even usually has extensive 2-step...
Seriously! The only original local DSMer I know is Luis H. He still has his 1992 Talon AWD. Luis was a regular contributor on MITSOG (if anyone still remembers that newsletter, ran by ALAMO) and then on Talon Digest.I have owned a 1990 GSX, back in 1991-1993, but I wasn't its original owner...
OK... I'll play this game, take that $7k and invest it, how much will you have in 30 years? (roughly $75000-$80000, using 7-8% return, which is average for stocks)Cars are lousy investments! VERY few, collector cars, appreciate, but DSM is not one of them... Then, you have to pay for...
So how much do you expect your 1G to appreciate? These aren't vintage Ferrari's, they will never be worth more than around $15k! As such, I would enjoy it! If you really must, keep the stock parts and revert it back to stock...
mrvictory1999, nice job for connecting with Doug and letting him test drive your car(s)! I find Doug entertaining and it was fun to see his take on a stock DSM.I also must admire your willpower to keep that Eclipse stock! We all know that DSMs are decent stock cars, but they are SO MUCH...
I think that this move by Photobucket will be another blow to the forums (could FB have had something to do with it?). DSM Tuners are less affected by this, because Chris offered us space to host photos. I am now kicking myself for not using it more than I have :)
Thanks for the update, Tim.SLR kit hasn't be available for few years now :(. They did a 2G based kit car, which was going to feature the 4G63 (818 style, but for Mitsus), but then, they decide to ditch the 4G63, at which point I lost all interest in that project.
Yes! Side to side mounts contribute much more to "comfort", where as front/back are more about reducing engine movement under full torque. But I sure love the way that mounts looks and you can only see the DS mount :)
Is that an endorsement of how well they work? :)I went with stiff motor mounts on my old 1G and hated them! Now I just fill in stock mounts with GE Window Weld.
I found this in my old engineering stuff, looks like ChryCo did some marketing on my campus (Northeastern University, 1991). This was around the time I got my first time.
Wow, I thought you were in the car egging him on, to do this with someone else's car is a jerk move!So what brand pressure plate was this? Ewas it ever rebuild?
There are lots of cam options, but most of them are for forced induction, so I am not sure how it will work on NT.Your biggest power boost would come from raising your compression and tuning.
Did I miss the brand of the pressure plate? This is pretty uncommon, usually you see flywheel grenade itself. But since you had a puck clutch, which isn't creating as much heat as street disc, this must have been some incredible abuse! Where were you when he was doing this?
1G, all day long! 1G suspension originated in Galant VR4 rally car, it is designed for off road punishment! Ever notice how 2Gs made lousy rally cars? That is one of the reasons why. Now, I understand that rear suspension geometry on FWD is quite different from AWD, but still, front...
I must second this advice! Find out what law you actually violating! Most towns allow one unregistered vehicle on your property. But you didn't make it clear, is this on your property or on the street?
This is my, newly completed Talon Spyder AWD project! I love how it came out, other than tail light wiring... My turn signals are all messed. They are fast flashing (like bulb is out) and turn on with the brake light. I looked at the tech article on this topic, but it doesn't match what I...
I went to the track to test my FP Red, had the closest race against a C4 Corvette, ran a personal best of 11.65@ 121. Then an awesome race against a Camaro and finally lose a close loss to a monster Mustang. I was told that this was a 1000hp Mustang. Sure seemed fast!I will post some...
This is probably the coolest thing that happened to my minivan, thus far:https://ca.autos.yahoo.com/news/story-behind-420hp-dragstrip-minivan-ride-153000008.html
>do you have a link to your build photos?
Just what I posted here, on www.4g61t.org and www.newenddsm.org . Car Domain pretty much ruin their site with their “upgrades”…>5bolt/4bolt hub options or no options?
I am pretty sure you can use front DSM hubs with 5 studs. In rear, you have to...
Yahoo picked up one my older (14b) videos, so this is getting viewed by the normal people. Some of he comments are hilarious! Especially all the "fake" comments :)https://autos.yahoo.com/news/watch-soccer-mom-minivan-destroy-supra-mustang-143021027.html?soc_src=mediacontentsharebuttons&soc_trk=ma
I got a chance to dyno my Summit last Friday. I got there with 390hp and eventually got up to 420hp. Both numbers are decent, but it can do BETTER!
I am still loosing fuel pressure above 7k rpm! My next step is to get Aeromotive 340 pump. And see what happens…
Mechanically, 4G63 bolts right in, but wirering is a big project, because these vans are using a distributor. He could always just add a turbo to the stock engine and run low boost. Probably better option for a FWD, anyway.
Thanks! I am thorrowly enjoying it! But finding these things, in good condition, is vertically impossible :(. It took me many years and with each passed year, this is becoming even more difficult.
Funny how they did "6 point roll bar". The front 2 points are very different from what we do in US :). "Attention for head" was a bump out in bar. Another thing that US tech inspectors do not like. What year what this?
One of NewEngDSM members posted a '97 brochure, where:Color Key rear spoiler (optional)
Sculpted side-sill cladding (optional)So, if you wanted a really cheap Spyder (and were willing to wait), you could have custom ordered it with just the spoiler OR sill cladding OR none...
Why wouldn't this '99 Spyder not have 2Gb front end?Brian ran the VIN, it came this way from the factory. That means they must have made trunks without holes.
I also see "bare" NT's all the time (or, I should say used to see them all the time, they are becoming more rare ;)), but not Spyders, I only saw them with wings.I have spent many year's looking for turbo Spyders and unfortunately, there isn't a good way to filter our the NT Spyders so I...
