Firist of all, there is no such thing as 7 bolt intake. I think that you mean 2G intake (remember, there were 7 bolt 1G's).Second, we might need more into than "small turbo" ;) I remember when 20G was a "BIG TURBO"! :)BTW, I ran my best 14b times with a Venom intake! I do not think...
Congrats on a pretty quick car! But I am sorry guys, calling this a "stock exhaust" is just not right!# 1 As you can hear from the video, the WG is wide open much of time! That means that certain percentage of exhaust gasses bi-passes the restrictive, stock exhaust!#2 What is...
Why would you bother? Most people remove the evaporator and plug up the hole with a rubber plug. If you do not care about caring few extra pounds, just leave the evaporator there.
That part is an oval shaped rubber plug. Unfortunately, I do not have a PN handy, but I am sure that JNZ can find it for you.The other part that goes along with it is the non-AC duct, unfortunately, it is no longer available :(.
I highly doubt it, who would spend considerable effort to tap back into a stock downpipe? And recirulated WG does not sound louder when it opens. ;)Anyway, back to the original question. Back in the late 90's I had to put stock exhaust on my Green Machine to pass emissions (so this was...
I hate to point out the obvious, but having an external dump WG defeats the purpose of having "full stock exhaust" because IT ISN'T...Think about it, he is bi-passing the exhaust, thus require less exhaust to flow thru the restrictive, stock exhaust!
Guys, when you report the longevity of your tubular header, instead of time, list the number of miles. We are talking about modified DSMs here, 6 month can be less than 500 miles of actual driving ;).
That is funny, because I design that "gamma-ray" equipment!http://www.sentinelndt.com/Portals/0/880%20Brochure%20(Sep%202007).pdf Small world!I do not understand why you guys are accusing his of something, because it shouldn't have cracked in under 200miles (heat wrap on not!).The...
I have ran an earlier version of this manifold (around 6 years ago). The WG location didn't allow it to clear 1G hood, so I had to use another adaptor to relocate it. But supposedly it fit just fine on a 2G.This is what it looked like before I tried closing the hood:
I used to think that this is a terrible idea... But seeing so many people successfully performing this swap (especially on EVOs, which use the same 11mm stud kit), made me change my mind.I wouldn't do this on a 6 bolt motor, unless I was looking to run over 30psi (instead, wait for the next...
Why are you so hung up on using T3 housing in the first place? Perhaps there are now much better choices, but back then, "5 bolt" T3 turbine housings were not all that great!I guess I missed that memo :rolleyes:Not all "full Garrett" set-ups are great...
There is an OEM 7cm^2 gasket... JNZ carries them.BTW:7cm^2 housing has openning that is 6cm in diamter
6cm^2 housing has openning that is 5.5cm in daimaterPeople mess this up ALL THE TIME.
>and being cast I don't think it will have problems with cracking. That is right, because stock cast manifolds never crack... :) Mitsu, with ALL of their resources could not come-up with a manifold which would not crack. What makes you think that this cheap knock off place will...
OK, so what are you trying compensate for? ;)Seriously, I am yet to see anyone back up the more power claims from a bigger TB And I am not interested in an anecdotal evidenceI chose to stick with a stock TB for the following reasons:1. It is the MOST reliable TB available! This...
This is a common misconception. Even if you turn your car into a FWD using this method, you are still spinning all of the same components through the rear wheels. So there are no savings. However, under full power there might be some modest savings. Which is why I often entertained the...
Well, in that case, let me interject with some personal experience:1. I have used a switchable transfer case for over 5 years (putting well over 200 passes in the 10.1-11.4 sec range) and never had a problem with it...2. I analyzed a broken switchable transfer case and compared it to a...
Mike has just switched from VPC/GCC to AEM EMS. We used my AEM cal. file pretty much unaltered, so it wasnt even as good of a tune as it can be for his specific engine.Important to note that this was at only 28psi of boost. His next run (~2psi more) was looking much better (~20hp more at...
Heavy,First of all, this GVR4 a 4 or 6 cylinders? But if people can get 95 ECU/DSM link work in an EVO8, you can certainly make it work in a Galant (if it is 4 cyllinders) ;). It is just a matter of tracing all the ECU pins to make sure that they all go to the proper places.But...
I think that 25psi design limit is inexcusable! The odds are that they just picked a number lower than what Dave said he was running and went with it.I do not like Venom as a company, but I now had my Venom intake for almost 3 years (going as high as 40psi), it never cracked and I am very...
>I don't think he's saying they won't work, but that the sliver of a "wall" before the flapper
>will eventually crack or break completly off. Then you would probably run into
>problems like longer spool time due to the gap.You are correct, I am not getting into the effectiveness of 34mm...
Eric,I have started another thread for this subject, as this thread already has enough off-topic stuff...http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1352948#post1352948When you say "larger" what size are you talking about? I can almost see going for 32mm upgrade, but 34mm is just...
I have now budded my head with several people who insist that EVO 16G can benefit from a 34mm flapper upgrade. Well, I will give them the fact that this turbo can definitely use a wastegate upgrade, but it is my contention that 34mm flapper is NOT the way to go!I am not sure if you can see...
I stand by my previous statement that you should NOT use 34mm on an EVO 3 turbo. That housing simply does not have enough material to take advantage of that large flapper. And if you are not fully using it, it is hurting you for 3 reasons:1. You have a larger area flapper with the same...
>Ever wonder why evo guys are already selling them?Have you spent any time on their forums? The amount of ignorance and stupidity on many of EVO forums is mind boggling So please do not use them as an example of common sense. But by all means use them as a source of cheap cores ;)...
Sort of like:Why would you ever use EVO3 turbo? It was a stock turbo, after all
What about a STOCK Supra TT fuel pump?
Stock 2G pistons?
EVO3 Manifolds?
See where I am going here? This logic makes no sense what so ever Good parts are good parts and being of OEM quality, should...
I have been a huge opponent of Starion I/C, going back to mid 90s. Having had a chance to examine EVO8 I/C and compare it to 88 Starion I/C (the big one and the only remotely one worth considering) side by side, I must say that I am VERY IMPRESSED with the EVO8 I/C!My years of experience...
You are asking a bench racing question, which you knew was wrong and did anywayAs a side note, with a cat back and a fuel pump, you already have the mods get run 12sWould you care to share with me where you got this information? And I mean numbers and not just some similar...
Several DSM vendors used to use those flex sections in the old days, before they knew better But they quikly discovered that it was worth paying $50 for a real flex section. Looks like we have gone ALL the way aroundThis is what is called a flexible exhaust pipe, you buy it for $30 for...
OK, even before the drama, this was a bench racing threadIf you have some specific technical questions, I suggest that you ask them in separate threads in appropriate forums. And please, NO BENCH RACING!Closed for several reasons.
Not getting a desired response in a proper forum or wanting to get a quick responce is NOT an excuse for posting things in the WRONG forum!Thread closed!
>I replaced all my sla's with the latest version of HLA's. When I did this compression was
>good in all cylinders and the motor runs fine.Yea, but that does not mean that there was no contact! :)>My next problem is my turbo is overboosting. From what boost to what boost?>I dont...
I had this happen on my old SBR GT-13 once, but that was my fault. GT-13 comes with these little sheet metal plates that need to bent up against the hex bolt head (thus locking them place) . Unfortunately, I overlooked it and they came loose right before a race. I had to pull the turbo and...
Thanks for this point of reference! You are correct, boost creep does gets worse in cold weather. So this problem should become much worse in the next few weeks...So you are creeping to 21psi with a 2.5" cat back! 21psi is actually not too bad, if you have a proper fuel system. But...
I only used it because that is what I currently had. But it worked just fine with my FP3575. However, I never tried running low boost :).Like I said before, I would recommend going with the 44mm WG.
We are talking about problems with holding LESS boost, not moreBut you are a good case, what kind of 3" exhaust are you running? With a cat?Did you have any creep at 17psi?Leon
I definitely agree with you there! But many people buy them and expect to run 15psi. And those are the ones who end up with problems. You can say that someone only wishing to run only 15-17psi really shouldnt be removing their cat. But that is not many people think They expect this...
I am also speaking from personal experience, I am sure that we have not seen as many EVO 16Gs as you have, but we have been having a serious problem keeping them from creeping! And this problem is especially bad on well tuned 2G motors. The only thing that we found to work reliably is going...
>Since I bolted on the Evo III 16G, I have run a best of 118.02mph.Right, and better tuning had nothing to do with it, right? ;)>We not only install the bigger valve but we open the w/g passage up on the mill. How much material do you leave in that housing after this port job? (I am...
Dan,I am using a 40mm TiAl on my FP housing. FP simply welded a 40mm TiAl WG flange ($25) to the housing before they sent it to be.The problem is that 40mm flange must clocked just right in order for the WG to clear the exhaust manifold. My wasnt perfect, so I had to spend some...
Definitely go with the larger flapper... if you have nothing better to do with your money! You simply CAN NOT utilize the 34 mm flapper on EVO 16G housing! You can physically install it, but what then? You can not port it to take advantage of what this valve has to offer. Instead, you have...
Rob,It is me or your adjusters only failed on the on the intake side and they did so in pairs?I wonder if you had some contact between valves and pistons? Have you pulled your head off since this has happened?
They might look cool but there is nothing cool about them. Have ever opened a hood of a header equipped car when it is > 90 deg outside? It is NOT pleasant! To make headers livable, they really should be wrapped. And once you do that you end up with something that looks like crap! So do...
