If you plan on driving the car mostly stock then yes. 2.5 is enough but if you plan to start modding in the future, I would suggest 3" and spend your money once.

That doesn't sound too good man! Did the noise start when you replaced the wires? If so, try putting the old ones back may be you have defective new wires. New things do fail, sometimes. Its rare on wires but it does happen. Good luck to you man. I hope you can figure this one out.

Do you still have your old turbo? If you do put it back on, you shouldn't see any problems since your car was running fine with your evo3. I have the same problem with a 50 trim and bc272 but I think is my tune. 1st 2nd gear I build no boos at all. :(

How long was the car on before you decided to drop the oil pan? Could have been lifters as mentioned above.

I would also try to turn the crank manually, with wrench of course. just to rule out that the engine turns freely and isn't putting a ton of weigh on your starter.
