He nailed it. You likely arent going to be spoon fed here. A few key words in the search bar will net far more threads than the replies you will get.
Now, just throwing in some larger injectors will probably get you further from your goals as youll need some way to accommodate for the extra...
i was kind of wondering the same thing. But at least the guy did some research!! Im thinking maybe he was just looking for confirmation that hes on the right path.OP- everything looks ok to me. Things i would change to help save some money, no need for an expensive exhaust system, i got a...
There wont really wont be much of an issue regardless if he does or not. The numbers in my signiture vvv are on a stock bottom end 7 bolt eith unknown miles. Buddy of mine locally has been 10.0s on a stock 6 bolt. Really the crutial thing is the tune.
Well if its got ARP main studs it "should" have had some machine work done. And if someone has enough money to throw a shep trans at the car, chances are its probably got some bottom work done. Wont know though until you pull the pan. Have some pics?
Taking care of maintenance first like you're doing is what is going to keep this thing from breaking all time time, so for that, good job!! That gasket does look to me to be junk, Id change it. I wouldn't really worry about the alternator, my 3'' exhaust comes within a half an inch of mine and...
As been said already yes they can.. In fact, the only actual engine I've seen "walk" has been a 6 bolt.. I was working on a buddies car after he acquired a built 6 bolt for his spyder. Upon putting on the timing belt I noticed this...
No its not... You can take any 2g link ecu and run it in any 2g turbo car.. IF it matches the setup, such as if you're running a maf or speed density. If your car is still running a maf you cant take an ecu set up for SD. But yes, if you take an already tuned ECU and put it into a different car...
I run the cheapest tires I could get at the "tire shop".. haha. Think I paid 60$ a tire for my FD wheels. Still manage to pull some 1.6 60's. I see where you're at with weight savings, we are just on separate views. My car sees the street most of the time so throwing on some expensive tires on...
I've sold cleaner AWDs for less than that with less miles.. And honestly, if you plan to do anything with it, ever. You're going to absolutely hate that its "been made seamless". Personally I would pass.
Didnt mean for that link to come off as an ass remark, but we like to encourage people to do a little research before posting such similar questions. Corey pretty much nailed everything on the head though! :hellyeah:
^^ Boom! Beat me to it. I was in the same boat quite a few years back. Was getting not very many miles per tank but seemed to get decent milage and I thought the tanks were larger but didnt know the exact capacity. On week I just said screw it, I'd never seen the low fuel light come one before...
Ive had one on my car for a few years now. I used to go through IM gaskets about every year. Since I've installed this with copper spray I havent had a single issue.. I havent removed the manifold myself since I bought it however a couple local friends also run them and have numerous times, no...
Hmm might want to tell my spyder that.. Even with a stock 7 bolt its holding up just fine at right around 500awhp on e85.. I dont daily it but I wouldnt hesitate to if I didnt have 3 other means of transportation. Up until last year I DD it at 450+. Also Mr Peepers 1g runs low 10s and drives...

An hx40 would suck on a stock trans, or at least without an LSD insert. I tore my awd trans up with my hx35 set up, threw my fwd trans back in the car and dropped the driveshaft. Blew the tires off in 4th gear. Yea it was cool the first couple times but got old really quick. The car very well...
My advice would be, if you've never driven or even ridden in a car with that much power, dont even bother. A dogbox CAN be driven on the street but can be very tricky. If you dont know how they work how do you expect to drive one? Honestly I dont think Id ever even consider buying a car for that...
Why are you set on "twin" turboing?Closest thing you're going to get, take a look through this thread.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/new-guy-looking-for-compound-turbo-information.430366/#post-153512600
When I lived in NorCal my spyder made 297/250 fwhp on bolt ons. At the time all the car had was a 20g on 10lb waste gate spring, a 255 pump, BC272s and an exhaust, thats it. On junk Cali 91oct. So yes, 300 is definitely doable on just basic bolt ons. However, was this set up in anyway safe...
This is for an hx40 but its the exact same for the hx35.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/holset-hx40-installation.443321/Heres some exhaust manifold ideas http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/manifolds-that-work-with-holset-hx35-hx40.341834/If you go with the t3 housing youre going to need to...
*t3 is the flange style for exhaust manifold to turbine housing.Theres a part about halfway down that explains this here http://www.forcedinductions.com/help.htm
*BEP stands for Bullseye Power and is a company that makes bolt on adaptors for said turbos, meaning you can buy this and bolt the...
Why would he have to source a new crankshaft if his original was from a manual car? The only difference I saw in mine was that the 5 speed crankshaft had dowel for the flywheel. I just removed that and everything went together like it was supposed to per the kiggly paper instructions.
Bench racing is saying, for example, I have x parts how much power do you think I make? Or what 1/4 mile times do you think Ill run? Noone can tell you these things as every engine is different. You could take the same parts on two different DSMs and they could produce totally different numbers...
You could always fill it up and try to run it.. If it fails or starts whining then its junk. I dont see why you couldnt try that.. Hell I would. But if I were you I'd be looking for another t-case just in case.
Are you talking about the cast iron "U" shaped piece that slips onto the bottom of the strut and bolts to the lower control arm? How the hell did you bend that?! Pics would definitely help.
Pics of what? Pics of his damn DSM! Unless he doesnt have one... In which I would as why would you join a DSM site unless you have one?It does seem a little like that although I've had a few beverages as well. ;)
How much lag are you talking about? Not hitting full boost past 5k? Usually abnormal lag that I've encountered has been from a leak pre turbine. Meaning at the head flange or at the turbine flange. Have you checked for exhaust leaks?! The huge IC probably doesnt help though. I had a -4 stainless...
Since 1g cars all had the 4g I'd assume they had the same transmission regardless of turbo or non turbo. However Im not 100% on that. Although, Wolf alchemy's photo is of the correct fill plug for the transmission in the picture!!
I dont see where you said you used google. But had you, you would have found it very easily. Also Robert's link also shows the correct step height for our flywheel/clutch set ups. Yes, even though your flywheel is new you should have it checked. Unless your new clutch set up requires a specific...
If you look behind your driver side wheel you'll see the harmonic balancer (bottom pic) That large bolt in the center is what I suspect to be loose. Use a 1/2" drive ratchet to try and tighten or loosen it. Now, if it is you'll have to take off the timing cover. You'll have to take off the water...
Totally irrelevant ^^^ Has nothing to do with jumped timing.. The car would sputter and run very rough in the video if that was the case. Sounds like what has been happening to my car the last couple months. In the middle of your harmonic balancer is a large bolt. It holds the crankshaft...
You might want to change a bit of your story, street racing isnt allowed on this site. Great looking start though! Love the red. Also this should have probably been started in the Build Journal section.
Here, since these guys were too lazy..http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/holset-turbos-faq.362444/
Theres 9 of these threads, lots of reading here. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/holset-turbos.145691/...
I've never had a rear main leak with just a gasket. Where did the bolt break? Why not just take the seal housing off and grab it with some vice grips? Seems to me like you're making this job much harder by trying to do that with everything still assembled.
Im still leaning towards a IC pipe or intake gasket.. Boost leak of sorts..What was the scenario when this happened? Were you just getting up to speed, in boost, maintaining a constant speed for a while?Shop says you have rod knock? Oh really? What did they do to get the car running again?
Cant remove the whole are eh? How did Tim remove mine when he built my trans? The whole arm can be removed. 2g awd trans, he removed it since it really isnt necessary to have anyways.
For one, it looks like your crank sprocket is out a bit too far. Like its not even tight. Two, those definitely look like larger headed bolts than oem for sure. Its 2 am and I just went out to snap a pic of mine for you, and I have old craftsman sockets.
Ermmmm They're factory with 12mm bolts. However I just use a deep well socket and a ratchet. Sometimes Ill grab a 3" extension. There really isnt a crazy secret to tightening them..
That covers a lot of it.. Check here too.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/fwd-gst-swap-to-a-awd-gsx-basic-merged-2-07.276892/You have to cut the original awd bolts out of the donor and cut the fwd bolts out. If I remember correctly the rear location is the same, you can cut the front bolts...
