Ahh, yes, forgot to mention, I have the red Polyurethane motor mounts!!! Its not fun unless it shakes all over! lolI also have a lightweight flywheel...my understanding is that the balance shafts, the harmonic balancer, the flywheel and even the motor mounts all have something to do with...
My balance shafts are removed, on my current 6 bolt swap in a 98 GST, and together with the 272 cams its a nasty lug lug lug loping idle at 750rpms, and it seems to vibrate all the way thru redline something terrible, but HEY! who cares, it runs strong and quick LOL...
Ahh yes, I just saw your earlier post with all the current mods...looks like you already have some of the items I suggested....that's great! Is your car AWD? If not, you're in the same boat as me...FWD traction issues make the ideal hp goal around 350-380whp. And that is very attainable. And...
All of your upgrades could cost much more than $1000... probably triple that much! Don't forget a good fuel pressure regulator setup. And that factory boost gauge is worthless, it's not a true measure of boost psi. Get an aftermarket one. A new one, not a used one. Get a good blow off valve...
I've got a small 16g on a 6 bolt swap with 272 cams and doing some other mods currently with fuel system, hoping to get 325 whp after installing DSM link but not quite there yet...keeping an eye on this thread
The coil is inside the distributor on the civic distributor I have from '95...but it probably is not enough juice to push a spark under high boost conditions....but that would give the cam signal... although it would fry the ECU!
Ahhh the wise man speaks! Thank you for the clarification!! So in my post above, I would be describing a 1g 6 bolt skinny block, mated to a 2 g transmission if there was a missing bell housing bolt near the #4 cylinder.... Or that could also be a 1g 7 bolt block...it's not a perfect indicator...
Also, the 6 bolt block is more skinny and has one less bolt for the bell housing. It can be seen if you still have the transmission from the 7 bolt connected.. You may see a missing bell housing bolt just under the #4 cylinder exhaust port area (front of engine passenger side). The bell...
If it's like most DSMs, it will definitely be a project car, even if it's been rebuilt LOL...I had the same 'project car' idea back in March and my list of parts/repairs has ballooned higher than my unemployment check LOL
I'm tapping into the heater hose under the throttle body with a 5/8" brass tee for my Autometer temp sensor. I used the supplied threaded connectors from the gauge, and I'll use some band clamps. My heater core is bypassed currently but I don't think it matters either way. This way I can keep...
My knock sensor needed replaced so I checked the Amazon link and there's still plenty of them left a year later. Maybe they've found a good source in Taiwan... I found one local here at O'Reilly's in Lawndale, CA...the same part KS32, from Standard Motor. $80 out the door. It saved me a...
Wow that's pretty cool! Looks like a '95 or '96? Its a great candidate for a rebuild! Its not easy to find a GSX....probably has the eprom ECU too...good for dsmlink! Definitely a keeper! Do a leak down test on the motor first thing to see if its got a hole in a piston or some missing/bent...
Wow...a ten year old thread back from the dead!Is your car AWD or FWD....it may have something to do with which flywheel you have. The flywheels are different sizes in AWD and FWD cars (106 teeth and 110 teeth, respectively). Also verify the starter plate used? I believe a 2g starter plate...
