Mine was a dog too unless I held it in 1st because it would shift into 2nd almost immediately. It was also like a switch being flipped once it got into boost, totally different than a manual. Putting in a chipped tcu was hands down the best mod.
All the plugs I managed to detonate the gap was closed up and electrode pitted. That thing looks like it exploded. Be interesting to the see the top of the piston.
Need to drain my tank, I read 97's have a blue connector near the battery that you can connect to + and activate the pump. Can anyone confirm this is the one? I can't find another near the battery.
I have a 92 6 bolt gsx that needs a motor. 6 bolts are tough to find and condition would be a surprise. This 7 bolt runs and drives fine and I know what's been done since I did it. Is it worth the work putting it in and getting it to work?
I hasn't bothered me enough to mess with it yet. This article was posted in a another e85 cold start thread.Cold start and E85 calibration! - evolutionm.net
Going to use a bep housing. I have a tial 38 and a turbosmart 38, recirculated o2 housing for the 38s. Hafe for the external. More or less need to make the choice and order the bep housing. Probably going to go recirculated at the o2.
Having a tough time choosing, moving to the holset hx35 soon. I have a hafe with the provision for a external wastegate. I also bought a fp on sale which would mean getting a o2 wastegate provision. The hafe would be much easier, could always use the fp on the 1g I guess. I've read a lot...
Got time to work on it today. None of the wires were shorted, oil light was on because the wire was broken to the sender. The engine is not locked up. So far I'm happy with what I'm finding.
Got to look at my new 1g for a couple of minutes, story is 12 years ago the oil light came on and it quit. No major fuses popped but this sure looks suspicious. Accumulated rodent wizz makes it hard to tell if it was the death blow. Anyone seen a short out or get hot there? Itching to...
Power washing off the car when it got home scattered a few large spiders. I think sitting on the cement away from a wooded area where it sat for so long will probably cook or drive out most of them. It can sit in the driveway a few weeks.
Last car I brought home was harboring spiders and they got all over the garage. The new car has been sitting outside for 8 years, I assume it has critters here and there. Do I bug bomb the interior and spray as much as I can with ortho bug be gone on the outside/engine compartment?
You won't have to crank on it, just grab the tire and try to shake it back and forth lightly. Good wheel had no movement, bad you could see and hear the slight movement.
Only thing done to mine is a new end clutch and and a chipped tcu from Dave Katz. Totally changed the car. I am having him up the rpms on another chip at the moment and drove again with the stock tcu, what a slug.Firm hard shifts over 20 to 30% throttle and very hard at 100%, get rubber...
I agree the guy is raping you. Just a quick search in your area came up with a lot of parts on CL. Hell there are complete running turbo cars for 2500, yea lets spend 5k on a motor. Did he show you a trashed bearing or did you take his word for it? There are plenty of videos of loud...
Had a pinhole leak in a weld on a new dejon pipe, they told me I could send it back or use jb weld. I was in a hurry to get it running so a tiny smear of jb weld took care of it.
Jack up the car and see if the wheel wiggles. Had the same noises that one day got worse quickly, thought it was my tranny but the wheel had a lot of play in it.
Can't read the numbers in the picture. I'd email them for the specific numbers off it and compare them to the ones listed in this topic.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/317933-evo-3-gt-turbo-serial-number.html
Is it just my luck or do others have issues with case screws? I've had a few ecus where the screws were very tight and needed a dremel to allow a bigger screw driver. I have a eprom tcu where I only got 1 screw out, even the dremel trick didnt work. Guess I need to grind the heads off...
Great on being prepared, I think you'll be happy and not be one of those "my dsm blew up on the way home" type buyers. If you got him down a decent amount from asking you are making good even if there are a few issues. Dsmlink being there is a good plus, should be the cable and chip in the...
Never been to a race track but driven like at one EVERYWHERE. You don't do all those upgrades to drive like a grandma. If your set on this look it over well, start it cold and get it hot and check everything twice.safc 1, dsm link ??? Maybe I read that wrong, has both?
96 gst showed up in the junkyard, so far mostly there and stock. Grabbed the injectors and tb elbow. Head would be $70, they've raised prices so most parts are priced more than they are worth. What are some things worth grabbing?
I had a little piece or two like that in my cylinder a few years ago. It beat the shat out of the piston top and chamber. I couldnt find any reason for it, suspect a washer or something fell into the intercooler pipes. Head and piston were ruined.
My 92 was smoking at idle, turbo had horrible play. Still puffed at idle after replacing with a good one. I had oil seeping out of the exhaust gasket also. Changed the seals and no more smoke at idle. Wish it had been the turbo lol.
Keep in mind the injectors stop when you coast and brake. Was worried about this in my ecmlink log until I was told that is normal. A wiseman may confirm this.
