Look at the timing gear side. Put them both next to each other. Hold them in a manner where he dowel pins for the cam gears are aligned strait up. The closest lobes to that end should be straddling the top (one set goes slightly to the left, one goes slightly to he right). The one with the lobe...
put a scantool on it and deterimine which of your inputs are bad... Coolant temp (if it reads -40 for instance), karmen count (MAF reading), and also check your IAC%(should be 30-60%).
Thats a good idea, We scavenged one off of a powerstroke a few years back and put it on the white race car. Think of all the trouble saved if you have to do a hot shutdown :) Good stuff for drag racers and a VERY good mod for people with ball bearing turbos.
You can see anywhere from 25 to 50% vaccume loss at idle with a mild-moderate cam. crazy cams will kill most vaccume so if you've got 14in. - Your in the right area.
You're going to have to tune that on a HP dyno. Your HC will depend COMPLETLY on valve overlap. all cars will respond differently to how the fuel is tuned and what the timing is set at so any modifications make it impossible to 'guess' with vaccume and HC readings. anyway: a car with monster...
I've got tons of experience with all of the above mentioned systems and I would definantly have to say you will want a DSM link with a MAF translator blow though setup.www.dsmlink.com

everyone told me swapping my 93 awd auto to awd 5 speed wasnt worth it. it cost me 600 bucks (300 of which i made back 450...) so i basicly spent a week and 150 bucks making it work...even tho i got negative replies on any ?s i asked about doing this, it turned out to be fun, easy, quick...
well its stripped down and sitting at my place... i got sidetracked most of this week prepping my car for daily use... its a major swap so it's been a monster to get going well. im heading back to my shop (3 hours away) today and will put a bit more work into the N/S project. I'll see if i can...
thanks for the thoughts. In reguards to using truck mounts: i was thinking about that but decided in wanted to make my own 'engine cradle' of sorts so i could just take the hood off, unbolt it in a few places and pull it out with a hoist. this cradle device would also severly stiffen the...
Im definantly not using stock hoses... my idea behind this was: how many inline motors do you see with the water neck on the back of the motor? not to many... i just dont want some rarity in flow that would cause prolonged cavitation at the pump when i need it: after i get down the track. i...
I read about 3 posts up above and started to draw that exact same drawing :) that will work just fine. the vac can is the best part and is crucial if you dont let it go to vaccume after you boost it (it would be adequte for track but not for autocross if you left the can off)
Anyone want to comment on possible problems with a north-south mounted 4g63? im going to start fabbing a cradle to bolt into a small body (probably rx7 or something of that sort) this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as far as problems making it run.Problems like: cooling...
well thoes are all the symptoms of limp mode... why is it not in there? get a scantool on it if its obd and physicly see whats screwed up (you do understand what limp mode is...?)if sensors are good and ecu is good, you've gotta have a short somewhere.
limp mode, nuff said... that explains the rev limit and the rich idle. you say 7 bolt? the years dont exactly match up, but what CAS are you using and is it correct for the year ECU your using?
merry christmashttp://www.simcar.com/literature/sae940759/convflow.htmif you dont mind me asking... what are you looking for speed density info for? we run a MAF type karmon vortex unit on DSMs
rumors float around about the e6k and how they are fixing to release a new one that is alot more user friendly... guess they needed to make up for the ass kicking AEM is giving them :) go with the AEM unless you can call yourself a master tech without a big dumb grin on your face.
tell us how rich will cause a knock please?my recomendations: bite the bullet and go standalone. you checked for a bad knock sensor and is your engine grounded well? i would recomend buying a crapload of jumper wires and jumpering everything to a good ground... ive seen it do wonders...
