Once more I find myself coming back to these cars. It’s unexplainable but unconditional love and nostalgia keeps me reviving these cars. This one is the grossest one I’ve come across with the shadiness that plagued the dsm community which contributed to the bad reputation our cars have...

Started to buff out some scratches since she’s almost ready. I’ve only done a 20 minute cycle and drain since the rebuild because I don’t have tags. She hasn’t been registered since 2007 :toobad: . I will get some temp tags tomorrow and get to proceeding with the engine break in.

Well I finally dropped in the engine today. Unfortunately I didn’t use the eagle rods because I ordered the wrong pistons :banghead:Regardless my main priority isn’t huge power but a nice clean dsm but it would have been nice.I updated the valve cover as well from the hideous lime green. No...

I almost didn’t get the eagle rods as I’m planning on just enjoying the car the way it is but figured I might as well in case plans change and we all know how it always goes.

Gas tank cleaned inside n out and re installed. I got my block back from the machine shop yesterday and will be ordering everything I need by today. Had to go .040 over on the pistons to get everything cleaned up but excited to get this thing finished soon. Crankshaft remained at standard spec.

Had some varnish build up from old fuel so I dropped the tank to give it some maintenance. Sooo many dead spiders on this thing. It’s a great opportunity to give the undercarriage a nice cleaning.

Finally took the block and crankshaft to the machine shop for servicing. Boring over and crankshaft polish. On a separate thread I posted my cylinder block had ribbed cylinder walls on cylinder 2 and 3. This is what I found.I had ordered new balance shaft bearings prior to the tear down...

The interior was originally gray with a touch of red spray paint from a previous owner. Slowly working my way to black interior. I just came across these local front seats and decided to replace the cloth seats.

I bought the car about 2 years ago as a shell and sourced everything to get it in running condition. It still needs work and I will be pulling the engine soon for a complete rebuild.
