Happy to see it all worked out!Surprised to see the factory components sort of clear despite that not being the initial plan :)
Isn't that stud that it's contacting a ground anyway? Or I suppose the alternator will be angled up a lot more when fully in place and maybe the harness connector...
Can't believe we didn't see this build thread sooner! Giving some old school magazine vibes with the great story behind everything and fantastic photos. Was great meeting you and letting us be a part of your build!
Well, got the Haltech Nexus R3 and IC-7 dash. Been ehhh about wanting to do anything extra awesome until there are some failsafes in place and a way to acquire *all* the data.
Not looking forward to tearing it apart again but hey, that’s how it all goes! And it’ll be rad to have the wiring...
Having the car at the shootout was amazing. We finally got it all finished finished Wednesday around 11pm and we left Thursday at 6am. We were running into some wiring issues and ended up stealing some parts off the green car so we could just get it there. Was really considering just pushing it...
Didn’t get any videos but here are some photos after the first drive!
Ran into some problems with the alternator but luckily we have an entire fleet here of cars we could steal from (sigh, LOLol) and all is well! Car drives INCREDIBLE. So smooth and easy. Dialing it in tomorrow and man, I’m so...
Well, the best update I have is that it runs!! Started up with zero issues and it was as though it had been running for years. Matt and I both looked at each other and said no car we’ve ever put together, been a part of, or been there for their first start has ever started as well as this did...
Also- if there’s any group of people who could appreciate how rad this is, it’s you guys.
Got it two decades ago (sigh) for my first talon and have put it on all my favorites ever since :)
I keep trying to come up with a response that encompasses all the feelings your post left me with.I can’t.It’s been days and I just can’t.
Those incredibly kind words from someone I admire, look up to, and appreciate fiercely… idk. Ain’t nothin’ I’ve been trying to write good enough.
Thank...
It was super important to me to use the same intercooler I had on Prototype. Ron made it back in the day and I love it so so so much. The problem we were running into is that it’s also super important to me to use the LPS alphalocs (because come on, they’re super rad). Getting everything to fit...
Hope everything is ok!! crossing fingers for next year. Matt and I were talking about you recently, and i said that this forum and all the members who have taken their time to share their knowledge+experiences are the ONLY reason I ever had success with getting any of my cars running and doing...
Made some progress recently :)Most exciting thing is the manifold and hot parts are done!!
Otherwise got the old harness out and new in, gauges in, radiator support done, and other things I can’t remember (or aren’t really worth bringing up, ha). Working on getting the intercooler mounted...
No “real” updates BUT I did finally make some decisions.
I finally decided which manifold I was going to go with and…
*drum roll*
The top mount is “the one” for my Vanna girl :)
Got it all cut and prepped, and just need to get it all welded up now (well- and time to do so, ha!).
Going to do...
(I see the gap, too, LOL)literally the coolest thing ever. you can scan the shirt and it takes you to my build thread!! LEGIT THE MOST AWESOME THING TO EVER GET DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE!!!
thanks so much, @Ludachris ♥️♥️♥️♥️
i can’t wait to wear it to my family gathering this weekend and...
Been a bit since we’ve updated!
As some of you know, Clunkbox broke and while we had been trying to figure out what to do about that (the setups with my car and that are so similar), it’s definitely made it easier with it being a pain to get running again.
im going to get the dogbox...
They’re in an envelope waiting for me to stop being lazy!!Yep! Zak had the whole car repainted when he owned it and painted the mirrors white, too!! People seem to love it or hate it, no indifferent in between :)
I like how it makes it a bit different. Subtle and clean!
Sent the car off to our friends over at Exquisite Auto Spa in Elm Grove, Wisconsin for some pampering! Had the premium ceramic coating, full interior and exterior detailing, and tint (once the car is done, we will finish it!)
Loving the build!Happy to hear the drain line kit keeps it away from the pesky GVR4 engine mount bracket :)
With both dumptubes and the drain line all sharing the same space down there it does end up fairly tight (and we mock it all up with the drain line accounted for), but is there a chance...
Got a tiny bit done today.
Valves in, head on, cams and cam gears in and on, so that’s nice.
It’s funny how you go into the day thinking you’ll get much further than you do and then BAM you’re reminded that if something can go wrong, it does
Things are comin’ in to get Vanna where she needs to be!Haltech Elite 2500 + Custom Plug-n-Play Harness from Performance Partout
(https://performanceecu.com/)Ferrea Competition Plus Exhaust and Intake Valves from ExtremePSIWe are hoping to take a day off (gonna be weird.. what’s a “day...
As always, things don’t always go according to plan.We were certain we had good valves but after spending an obscene amount of time searching- nope, we don’t.Fortunately, there was still enough to get done.We finished cleaning out the head and now it’s all good, ready to go.Got the trans...
Since we couldn’t make Kevin and Katie’s event this weekend, we decided to take two days off and get some work done on my car.Pulling her out of hibernation felt really nice. I’ve been dying to get some progress made and this weekend is it!Bowl and blended the cylinder head. Got the...
Thank you!!Funnily enough, after I get done, Matt tells me he has one “somewhere” but I am going to order one now for the next set because man oh man my finger has never felt so sore, lolThank you!! I was really nervous because his instructions were so.... firm and seemed kind of...
Ok, so I followed this thread on how to properly paint my plastics. But oh my word, the things that weren’t mentioned are that 1.) your spray finger will ache for like days, and 2.) it takes several days for this process. Start early in the morning.I followed his instructions exactly. I...
Really surprised that fit! Those X-lines are extremely thick. The extra space from the more compact design ended up paying off :)Hoping that cures all of the coolant/HG issues but even if it doesn't, it's really solid insurance if the HG does need to be swapped eventually.
Did you get to compare the VE tables with the only change being the turbo setup vs the 50 trim? Curious if there was a large bump in VE during spool and midrange
We wanted to chime in on the WG spring rating vs actual boost level running "wastegate psi" as we've seen it on a few setups now and with talking to some prominent tuners. The rated vs actual has been offset (higher) by 5-10psi on some setups, mainly newer higher flowing/more efficient turbos...
Well, we took a few hours and got some work done. I was going to paint the plastics but everything I need hasn’t come yet (2-day prime or 2-week prime? ;) )We buttoned up the bottom end, set the stretch on the rod bolts, got the case and oil pain on.I always underestimate the amount of...
The flex section is almost always further forward (about at the crank centerline) and would never cause an issue- this just happened to have that oil pan and tcase brace making the flex moved back a safer bet for clearance in this case. Until that slick brace showed up :p
I don’t remember who it was that said it but I read somewhere in Facebook land that they had good luck using stockinteriors.com so I was going to give them a shot! I’m currently waiting for the color samples :)
Exactly :)We use an oval port exhaust flange which the runners are formed/shaped to the exhaust port rather than the much more common cnc transition flange that makes a fairly abrupt transition from oval to round but requires less tools and time. We did an article on the flange itself with...
Thank you!If you are referring to the exhaust flange with the set screws, that is only used for mock up before the runners are shaped to the oval flange/exhaust port.Love seeing the progress, Will!!
In preparation of a new cage going in once I save enough, it was removed. That felt like a good next step.Cleaning every crevice of the interior of this car was AWFUL. That metal dust got everywhere and in places I didn’t think things could go. Hours and hours with a vacuum, cleaner, and...
This car originally belonged to me from 2003-2008. I purchased it from my second cousin’s boyfriend’s mother, who was the original owner. It had next to no miles on it and she didn’t want much for the car. I already had my first red 1g but this car was for just tooling around in as that car was...
Here are a bunch of photos from when it was getting painted. And if I’m not mistaken, there’s like 3 extra coats of clear (on top of whatever is usually put on) on it!
I have wanted a white 1ga since as long as I can remember. There were a few times in the early 2000s that I tried to buy one but they were either not as advertised or it sold before I could get there. It was frustrating so I just gave up with it after like the 12th letdown but they remained my...
