i have hood pins already and i am thinking of converting over to the lock and key type hood pins. i was wondering if anyone has them, if they can post some pictures, and their experiences with them. i have a 2g and so the contact area where they go through the hood is going to be at an angle...
My friend is selling his rims from his 350z and I was thinking about getting them. I dont even know if they will fit, but does anyone know if they are going to stick out or be too far in and where can i find more info on these? i looked all over.
ok, so I ran a 12g wire directly to the head unit since the head unit's wiring harness also had a 12g wire. I also ripped out that stupid amp and stuck it in the garage. It sounds good and my flickering is gone, so I'm happy. Also installed my Omnifi DMP1 mp3 player... sounds so excellent...
ok ok ok, so i started freaking out, went out to the car and decided to do some testing. i ripped apart the console and turned on the car, put weezer - beverly hills (has lots of bass and trebal) on loop and here's what i found...it only flickers when the bass hits. if i put on another...
if that's true, wouldnt i get some sound out of the tweeters in the dash with my new head unit? i dont think that applies in my car... the tweeters in my car are wired to the infinity amp and as such, they no longer function without the factory head unit.edit...
just noticed you had a 95...
i unplugged the factory head unit, then i took the wiring harness that comes with the alpine unit and mated it with a circuit city harness. i plugged it in, stuck it into the harness coming out of the dash, and bam it worked. i did loose the tweeters in the dash, but i dont really care as i...
it can overheat that quickly? i only had the thing on for maybe 15 seconds while i turned up the sound to see how it sounded. hit level 16 on the reciever and boom, it turned off.My question is though... arent the stock speakers 4 ohm? i thought they were, but i have no way to find out...
i did mine without taking out the headlights... it's not that easy if you have really fat fingers and go nuts with the drill, but if you are REALLY careful you can do it. for mine i drilled into one of the dimples above the head lights... it was a pain, but it works well so im happy.
it just turns off for a second and then turns back on again. i thought i read somewhere that if you arent driving an amp that it wont have enough power to run effectively. can someone else confirm this?the way i see it, the stock head unit uses an external amp and the alpine head unit uses...
Ok, so for shits and giggles, i just removed the plugs going into the stock inifinity amp in my car and turned on my car. Wow. It sounds so much better without that thing plugged in and my Alpine head unit doing all of the work. There is a problem though... the damn thing flickers quite a bit...
It's pretty easy to do. Here's what I did.Ingredients:
sheet of carbon fiber that is about .015" thick (got mine from composite envisions on ebay)
the hood pins in the link above
permatex epoxy
some sandpaper (used to scuff the surfaces)1. take your scuff gaurds and rough them up...
color matching the CF hood is something new people are doing... it looks cool... i like it. the ruby red hood on that site would probably match yours pretty well so it might be worth looking into. you could sell your hood and only have like $300 to make up to get the other ruby colored hood...
i used 4 little black self tapping screws when doing mine. you can only see one of them because of how far they are to the edges. as long as you're happy though.
you know, i saw them on a honda civic one time and they looked really good, but i think on our cars it would be a huge battle to make them line up properly since our hood has more of a slope down where you would mount them.what i did was this...
i got these hood pins ->...
i don't like them on white cars because it seems to divide up the upper part of the car a lot more. i love the way your car looks now and i would just save the money for something more performance oriented. if you had a white talon with the black roof then i would say to go for it, but right...
i don't have a pic, but ive seen it done. im sure you can get a gauge cup for really cheap on ebay or something. hell, for a few weeks after i installed my boost gauge, i broke my gauge pod during the install and ended up using 3m padded double side tape to tape it to the dashboard near the...
why not just buy a gauge cup for like $10 and put it next to the pillar? i was gonna do that but then I got a really good deal on a pillar pod and that was the end of that.If you move the cup far enough forward, you can hide the gauge from other drivers and still be able to see it. they...
I wanted to make Carbon fiber hood pin scuff plates and I was wondering if it would be easy to just buy a sheet of hardened carbon fiber and just cut them out with a dremel or if i should have someone make them for me. if so, who should i ask to do this? any reccomendations? also, where can I...
ok, that brings me to my next question... since this is so much lighter and flexible than the stock hatch, will it have problems with the factory glass, or do you think it will be ok?
just got an HKS SSQV on my car and it sounds fantastic and it lets off at low and high boost and basically seals itself when you are under boost... the only one better than this i think is the TiAL but that is atmospheric only. My recirculation kit is on the way... i figured it was better to...
mine is in my air dam, but once it gets nice out, it's coming off and ill just tell the police that the bracket got broken in the winter and that im waiting for new mounting hardware... and i also have a good excuse cause the mitsu dealer where i normally get my parts went out of business (real...
you can see through carbon fiber? hmm. the bottom of my hood is all black... most likely fiber glass, but the whole thing only weighs 15lbs, so i dont really care. besides, im sure the fiberglass adds to the integrity of the hood.
it is possible... its on the side of the hood though, not the back like defiant had mentioned. it probably doesnt do anything and im only trying to convince myself that my poorly fitting hood has some value to it.
I have some generic CF hood i got from prostreetonline.com and i've had it on my car for about 6 months. I did install hood pins on it just incase. The only thing I dont like about it is that it seems to come up a little high near the tops of the fenders, but when I was looking at it, it might...
i dunno, maybe im doing something wrong then? I clean the area using rubbing alcohol, allow to dry, and then apply the tape and wait 24 hours before applying any sort of pressure to the object i am hanging. if i leave my windows up it gets hot in my car and i come out and my gauge pod is...
i dunno, that looks alright i guess but i would rather have a direct replacement for stuff instead of putting a sticker on it. mostly because my car gets hot (black) and any sticky stuff (ok, all of it.) that i have ever had in my car has managed to fall off or something. even if the imaging...
SWEET!!! I'm gonna get their budget lowering kit to! I'll be the envy of all of the neighborhood kids with my read head lights and my car lowered... cheaply to! Now i can finally afford to get a Vanilla Ice CD!lmfao at that site.
blah, once again, i didnt think i needed to get you guys' approval before you told me where to get the lights. i did not ask IF i should get the lights, i only asked WHERE i can get the lights. its great how you guys dont even read the rules on the board. be polite and dont go making...
