1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

Thanks for that.About half of the bushings have been replaced with poly, but yeah that does leave half (mostly the rear) with the original ones... which probably is at a minimum contributing to that. Also you say it's easy to go to SD and EBC... and it may be for someone who knows what...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

No I have short route aluminum piping, 2.5" I.D. if memory serves me correct. I put some heat reflective tape around the J pipe where it's near the exhaust. The FMIC is a pretty large bar and plate core but still allows me to get the fog lights. It's the VRSF kit. 3.5" thick core that's 24x8" So...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

Yes well 1G's don't have as many inputs available, and I'm hesitant to mess with the car at this point as getting it tuned as well as it is now was a PITA... plus there's other priorities right now with house repair and kids so spending on the toy isn't really in the budget. So I have to make do...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

If I ever switch to speed density I absolutely will do that. But being on a 1G it's a bit more of a PITA, I have to switch to simulating the narrow band though my EGT temp input that's logging my WB02 sensor, which I have to relocate from the down pipe to the O2 housing. And then I guess wire in...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

I'm going to try to get some dryer ducting and see if I can do just that. But also start looking at gathering some 24ga galvanized sheet metal (or aluminum) from work for making ducting. as I kind of want to build a duct from the radiator out the hood..... But yes also something for the intake.

You're correct . I have no idea why it would have been assumed otherwise.

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

Lifting the rear of the hood and or doing anything the removes that seal at the rear of the hood hurts cooling. That area is a high pressure area at speed, so it increases under hood air pressure, which makes it harder for air to flow through the FMIC/Radiator/ anything else. I had to make an...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

Well, when you're at 15* ignition timing on pump 93 @ 22psi it seems to be the difference in .7* ignition retard and 15*. So I'm trying to get it down to ambient. It's that or back down the ignition timing to 14*Also when I can just raise the pop ups and watch IAT instantly start to drop from...

1G Tired of high intake air temps!!!

Anyone know of a hood vent that wouldn't look horrible on a 1Ga???You used to be able to find extractor vents that looked a bit like a long 3-4" wide vent with a raised lip at the front or sort of like a rearward facing scoop but designed for extraction. Can't seem to find anything like that...

Do you think this will work? (catch can)

I made this a while back, haven't tried installing it yet. So it has 3 chambers, and the top two are filled with stainless steel wool, then with a divider down the middle to separate the inlet and outlets, with a chamber at the bottom for the oil/waste to collect.Mostly I need to figure...

    "Best" electric cut out?

Looking to put my stock cat back on and add a cut out in front of it. Suggestions on a reliable quick unit that doesn't leak or rattle?I thought about boost actuated but I'm thinking that would delay boost/spool up, would probably open faster once it started to open though, and wouldn't...

Almost forgot about this piece.. when I first got the Mighty Ma....Ram 50, the previous owner just had a rotted bungee cord to hold the battery down... So between work orders I made a proper hold down. Could probably roll the truck 15 times and this thing isn't going anywhere!

    1G Welding aluminum....

There's spots around the flange where you see the weld doesn't taper and run in smooth with the pipe it comes to a more abrupt stop and there's a rolled edge. To cold, needed more heat.

    1G Welding aluminum....

Preheat Move your setting away from cleaning towards max penetration, (I know contrary to the advice above, but max clean burns up the end of your tungsten) just make sure your metal is clean. DO NOT use sand paper, the grit used often gets embedded in the aluminum and makes the weld look like...

Important: Improvements on Saturn Alternator Swap

I opted for the 105amp modified 1 wire setup. It's not optimal, but it's by far the easiest, and so far it's pumping out good voltage up to nearly redline. I'd have to check a log but I think it does fall to 13.8 later in the pull and stabilizes there until redline but that's still way better...

Correct, 3/8" fittings, 1 inlet 1 outlet. Now I just need to find a drain and weld the valve cover fitting on. Anyone know if the baffling is aluminum or steel?

    Modified 1g intake manifold

Sharp corners normally are a pretty bad thing for flow. They create a lot of dead space near the corner where air doesn't really flow, and can create weird turbulence. Who knows if it's better than the 1g without testing it in a way that you can actually gather metrics.

    Scrap metal catch can

Got plenty of scrap 16ga stainless sitting around, I need a larger crank case vent, and catch can... and I had some free time today so, two birds one stone.I haven't sealed up the bottom yet, looking for some coarse stainless steel wool to place in the bottom so that the crank case gas's must...

    Simple intake heat shield

Well originally I wanted to do this out of plastic... but I'm a welder and scrap is free LOL Just shoving a piece of cardboard in that 1 opening lowered IAT this morning to just 6* above ambient after 30min drive to work.

2G Airbag Delete For Touch Screen Tablet to Tune w/ECM

Sooo is there like a list of known models that work and aren't $400 or does it just require a gamble on anything with a USB port, intel processor and windows OS? I don't like gambling!.....i'm to poor for that shit.

    Simple intake heat shield

UPDATE:Heat reflective tape prolonged the amount of time it took to heat soak, but still does. At which point the difference between ambient and IAT is the same. 11* above ambient pop-ups down, 9* with them up. I'll see if I can find time to finish sealing it up this week, I expect that to...

2G Airbag Delete For Touch Screen Tablet to Tune w/ECM

Question, I have asked on the ECMLink forums but never got any answers, I guess I was to late after having been out of the game for years due to the car being parked while I was away. But what's needed for getting ECMLink to work on a tablet? Is their a list of tablets or OS that works?

I know what you're talking about!Well, took the little bit of 1.5" I had left, almost covered it all. I haven't taken it for a drive since, I'll update once I do.As you can see there's still a large gap it doesn't cover, but it's towards the front... Still I will seal it, but I think it...

    1G Terrible car night.....Fab issues

^ We use old Miller Syncrowave 350 & 351's at work.. old machines, but they have a lot of ass and work well. Really I find a lot of the new fancy features aren't really needed if you're decently skilled. They're what I have learned on so, I don't know what I'm missing with some of the new fancy...

Reduced IAT about 30*F...at least until it heat soaks after half an hour. Then only about 11*F above ambient while moving..its aluminum. Just drops into place. It's unfinished I still need to close up a spot or two and insulate it some how for full benefit.Draws air mostly from fender well...

The box says 1wire... did ordering it with the Mitsubishi voltage regulator option change the way it's wired up? If so which is correct? Or rather which yields best output? This L, F and S shit gets confusing, can't someone just say what color the wire is on the GM pigtail?

Ordered the alternator yesterday with the voltage regulator, $109.98. Then ordered the pigtail for JNZ... man should have probably looked someone where for that pigtail, with shipping it was $27.
