That tube allows the air from the blow off valve to reenter the intake. What you're rubbing off of it seems to just be grime buildup that's accumulated over the years.
Yes, the tube just hangs there. It basically is meant to spit out excess coolant. And the mass airflow sensor is the big black piece that is right next to the air filter. It's got a plug going into the top of it.You can remove the air box and visually inspect the inside of the mass airflow...
From the factory, the coolant reservoir has two hoses that attaches to the cap; one that goes to the thermostat housing assembly (right), and the other is an overflow tube (left). In regard to your idling/RPM issues, my first thought was to maybe check your mass airflow sensor. A problem with...
Thanks for the replies guys. I knew heat would help, but didn't really have much on hand. And yeah, I should've stopped drilling on the right side... the left side-hole thing was accidental. :D What I ended up doing was taking a dremmel tool and some diamond-tipped bits and ground it down till I...
Yeah, I've got the quad-layer oem gasket waiting to be put on. It wasn't leaking when I drove the car previously, but I made sure to NEVER hit boost haha so far my efforts have been pretty meh. I've been drilling and using a dremmel tool, but it's taken hours to get a little dent. I'm too...
Hey guys, today's been a little long. I've been trying to get this stud out because I broke it while reinstalling my exhaust manifold, but I can't seem to get it.So I started by drilling a small hole so that I can use an extractor set that I have, got the hole drilled and I proceeded to use...
DC Sports makes tower strut braces for our cars. I use them, and they are direct bolt on.Front brace: https://dcsports.com/collections/upper-strut-bar-front/products/csb1004-front-upper-strut-tower-bars
Rear brace...
Dang it! lol I LITERALLY just put the single layer gasket on because I'm putting a new (to me) manifold on... didn't even know there was a 6 ply version. I thought the single layer didn't look quite right... looks like I'm gonna have to get a new gasket eventually. I'm still on stock psi tho...
I know you were hoping to daily this car when you bought it, and I know it sounds great to be able to drive that little monster every day, but if it's heavily modified it's going to have problems if the previous owners didn't do a good job. I'd recommend finding another source of transportation...
Sorry if you've already checked this, but if not, definitely worth a look. https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/how-to-diagnose-a-no-start.217951/ Wouldn't be a bad idea either to get an OBD scan tool. That has been a big help for me.
I run NGK BPR7ES. They are one step "colder" than stock, and they're affordable, and they should be able to handle stage 1 and stage 2 upgrades for the 2g. Hope this helps!
When I replaced the fuel pump in my gst I had to remove the line underneath. I tried to just screw it off the housing without taking the whole line off, but I couldn't do it. I didn't have to cut or bend anything tho... Good luck man!
You mean pull the two rubber hoses off of the pump? If you've got a full tank it's gonna leak for a bit. I'd say let it drain into a bucket till it stops if you've got it lifted. Then again, I've only done this once, others are going to be much more experienced than I, that's just my 2 cents...
Thanks. My exhaust was put on by the previous owner and it's not in the best of shape hehe... I'll go over all of the engine grounds and stuff. Luckily there's a shop that'll do full car rewires. They build the harnesses from scratch, and it's expensive, but I'll just have to wait and see...
Not sure what to call this other than moody bogging issue. Ever since I bought my 1999 GST my car has had a really weird bogging problem. I start the car and it runs fine and normal for a few minutes, but then the RPMs drop super low and it starts idling really really rough like it's having a...
