  1. Do you bleed new lifters?

I just collapse them, throw them in, and let the engine idle awhile to pump them up. Works great and no worries about valve sticking open.
  2. what pins do i hook my palm IIIc up to?

  3. Do you have to be a deadbeat to own a DSM?

Looks like i'm 0 for 4 now. It's been almost 2 weeks on my fourth "purchase" from here and I have nothing to show for it.What the hell is wrong with people? This is the problem with the internet. If these losers lived closer THEY WOULD GET DEALT WITH PERSONALLY.Off to paypal to make yet...
  4. Gauging Interest: MMCd for Android

Sounds like a great idea but you can get palms all day long on Ebay for $15 to $20.
  5. looking for turbo to get me to 400 whp with 2.4l

It seems like BEP's bolt on housing should put you well above a 16G.Summary provided by wiseman, Dsm-onster:HX35:The 8blade hx35 has a 56mm compressor inducer. This is found on 1995-1998 cummins manual pickups. The compressor flows 52 lb/min according to the compressor map. The...
  6. After market seat installation

Pull the bracket off the new seat and put the old brackets on using some flat iron to space it out to the correct width.
  7. Leather Seats

The seats have a nice flat bottom. It doesn't look like it would be hard to fab something up to make them fit. At most, a little flat stock and a drill / bolts and you are good to go. Just make sure it's secure, as a seat is a serious safety item!
  8. pic of engine bay progress

That should make some serious power - or broken drive train parts! :hellyeah: My vote goes for painting the VC the same color as the waste gate.
  9. 1990 mitsubishi GSX leaking and other issues

Oil leak may be the oil pan. Try to clean it up and put some dye in the oil and check it out.Glowing manifold is probably due to a lean condition probably caused by a boost leak. Do a boost leak test.Black plastic things are carrier bearings. There is a cheap ghetto fix with glue, or you...
  10. Do I have to have my block and head "decked" to run a Multi layer steal gasket?

From what I understand you need a RA50 or finer flat finish on the block for it to seal properly. There is debate about the copper spray. Personally, I ran a MLS without copper spray and without decking the block (just cleaned it well) before I knew any different and it worked fine for me on a...
  11. Check engine light came on need help code:p1750

They are around $200 IIRC. Yikes!
  12. Boost leak test question

I couldn't believe how many leaks I had on my car. I had to seriously crank my couplers to get them to seal and the most interesting leak was the seal on my turbo housing. It wouldn't even hold 4 PSI.
  13. Do you have to be a deadbeat to own a DSM?

I have had great service from the DSM vendors. Extreme PSI, Slowboy racing, VR Speed, etc have been awesome. I do spend the money where it counts, OEM where it makes sense, and trusted vendors for everything after market. The few parts I wanted to buy used were stepping stone parts - like the...
  14. Radio Turns On But No Sound

The infinity systems use an amp underneath the seat. It's probably not getting power or may be bad.
  15. Alternator issues

Are you running head shields on the o2 sensor housing and exhaust manifold? Heat will kill these things faster than anything. I bought one for a 97 galant. Bolts up like stock and puts out 90 amps.
  16. Decisions on engine rebuild

$600 is a great deal for that short block especially if you can get a warranty. It's tough to find a machine shop that is familiar with these engines and / or have a torque plate for one to bore it properly (if it needs it). Also, rebuilding a high performance turbo engine isn't exactly...
  17. Boost leak test question

You can use your boost gauge or the one on the regulator on the compressor. Or just put a t inline and put a gauge on it. Or buy this one: BOOST LEAK TESTER EVO DSM 4G63 16G: eBay Motors (item 130443394584 end time Nov-11-10 16:02:04 PST)
  18. Boost leak test question

It will show you serious leaks, but some leaks don't show up till a certain psi. Here you go: How To: Boost leak tester for $5.02 - evolutionm.netI made one just like it. Works great.
  19. Do you have to be a deadbeat to own a DSM?

I sure hope it gets better. I really like the car, but this is leaving a really bad taste in my mouth.I'll leave feedback, but I don't have enough postings yet.
  20. Used turbo recommendations

As far as I know, a 16g wasn't offered in anything that was sold in the states - at least one that bolts up to an eclipse. Bolt on t28's are also an after market thing.Best bet would be to find a 14b out of a 1g eclipse. You will also need at least a J pipe to run a 14b or 16g on your 2g.
  21. will a turbo 4g63 head work on a n/t engine?

If the head bolts fit through the head you should be good to go. Also make sure you plug the turbo oil feed hole with a bolt and a copper washer.
  22. Used turbo recommendations

The car came with a T25. A t28 will bolt up to a stock setup, but if it doesn't have a stock turbo on it now, you will need to find out what it is. It may have a non -stock manifold / plumbing.
  23. Misfire, heat related? Help... its getting worse!

How are the plug wires? Plug gap? You might also test your new coil. Heat tends to make coils less efficient, so that would make me think it's the coil even though it is new.
  24. Do you have to be a deadbeat to own a DSM?

I recently got back into the DSM scene with a $800 2g with engine issues. To save some cash and do some upgrades I thought it would be a good idea to buy some stuff on DSM trader and here on the classifieds.First "purchase" was a set of ARP's off DSM trader. Emailed the seller, got his...
  25. Peel and Seal "Dynamat" on the cheap DIY Guide

A lot of people have had trouble getting peel and seal to stick long term. Also it's acoustic properties are not as good as the purpose built dampeners. Availability of Pee and Seel depends upon your climate as it's not sold everywhere. (it's not sold here in Washington that I could find.) Here...
  26. I have some questions

    Check the IAC next.
  27. 420A Ripping up belts need help

If the chips come in contact with the belt it sure can tear a belt up. Can you move the crank pulley back and forth? The balancer on my car came apart in my hands on mine. The rubber rots and can cause the pulley to wobble and eventually fall apart.
  28. Turbo Water Line Locations

If you still have coolant in the system, pull the plug. If coolant comes out of it you are in business.
  29. I have some questions

Once warm the ECU will try to keep the RPM's at 750. If it can't, it's often because of a vacuum leak. Do a boost leak test first.
  30. Turbo Water Line Locations

It's connected directly to the block with a banjo bolt.
  31. 5th gear jerk

Do a boost leak test and find out.
  32. Help removing the Balance Shaft Belt

On one of my dsm's I forgot to bump the starter before I had half the car apart (including wiring). My 500ft pound impact wouldn't budge the bolt. Put the transmission in 5th gear, jammed a stick between the brake and seat (would have been easier to have someone push the brake but I was alone)...
  33. Engine breaking in-need help

Synthetic is fine for break in. Many new cars come with synthetic from the factory. I wouldn't use it since you should start it, let the temp come up, beat on it, and then change the oil in less then 100 miles or so. Synthetic is a little spendy just to use to clean the crap out of the engine...
  34. Rear Driveline U-Joint

The eclipse U joints are the same ones as the Suzuki Samurai uses. Try searching for that.
  35. At wits end with no fuel

There should be a lot more fuel than that if you pulled an injector out. Check the fuel pump at the connector to see if it's getting voltage. Have someone turn the key to on and take the gas cap off to check if you can hear the pump running.
  36. Anyone running the timing belt kit from PD?

I would check out the hydraulic tensioner too. If there is any oil on top of it or compresses easy it's bad.
  37. Renton/Kent and Surrounding Area Machine Shops

I've actually never been there. I just read this on thier website: "We also own our own 4G6x torque plate!"I'm not sure what use owning a torque plate is if you don't actually have a machine shop to use it with."We offer full machine shop service and motor assembly."I suppose that...
  38. 14B cooling lines

You don't have to run coolant through the turbo. If you do not run the lines you just have to idle the motor a little while to cool it down after a hard run to prevent coking the oil. I ran my last eclipse oil cooled only for thousands of miles with no ill effects. Many stock cars come oil...
