How can I tell if I broke springs in the pressure plate? I didn't notice anything that looked broken but the fingers did seem pretty easy to push down from what I would have imaginedAnd does anyone have a procedure for me to check the trans withough pulling it apart? can I spline the axels...
I didn't turn the wheels with it off of the ground before pulling is because I was retarded and assumed it was a clutch problem.I inspected all the splines in the front including the transfer case one and they all look fineI'll try to get a pic of the other side of the pressure plate and put...
I'm starting to think it may have been the center diff. I wouldn't think that it would be so smooth driving afterwards though. and I inspected all of the splines in the front and they look fine.I did notice that two of the three bolts that hold the starter gear onto the flywheel were broken...
Yea apparently... It was the one that came on the car and when I rebuilt the engine a few years ago I never replaced it (I was in college and all my money went into the engine)I got used to driving it though but maybe I was letting it slip too much to feel normal so it caused excessive wear...
Ok first I'll post pics and then below that I'll write exactly what happened and symptoms.Ok, so I Had just left the car wash and I was driving the car around to dry it off and I stopped in a driveway to turn around on a back country road. I barely got on it a little bit in...
My Mod list is up to date so look there for info on my car if you need it.
It is a 95 talonI have the 64bit version of windows 7 and am trying to run evoscan 2.5 because I heard that is the only one that works with 95/96 ecus. I'm having tons of driver issues with it. I can get it to come...
Ok so I found this relay and connector hanging down next to my fuse box, it comes right out of that big loom coming out of the fuse box. it looks like there were originally 4 wires going to it but now it only has one actually connected and two that look like they were torn out of it. Everything...
Ok so I got it started!!! It sounds so nice. Will be working on fine tuning it and everything all day tomorrow. It turned out that the start relay was sticking and when I took it out to test it, it came unstuck and when I put it in and cranked over the car started right up on the first try...
Thanks man I appreciate your help. It seems like I've covered most of the bases on that thread. I'm %90 sure that my battery is ok but I only tested it with a test light. I guess I'll be taking it out and doing a load test on it but I have a feeling that it is the starter relay. I'm going to try...
Okay so I've been building this 95 talon tsi awd for almost a year now and I was finally ready to crank it over the other night. When I tried to crank it over it wouldn't crank and just let the fuel pump run. It turned out that I had put ground wire from the bell housing onto the inside terminal...
One thing I can tell you NOT to do is replace them with similar seals from the plumbing department of your local hardware store to try to save money. The fuel will eat away at the seals and you will then be spraying fuel all over your engine.Yes I was retarded and did this on my old 93 talon...
I second this, I just ordered it and it was $77 for the cable and the software. That is CHEAP compared to pocketloggers. You need a laptop but a lot of people have those already.
Where can I find information on the Motoman breakin?I'm getting to crank over the engine I just finished building for the first time too and I'm pretty nervous about it because I've put so much time and money into it I want to break it in right.
Just a guess but it seems like maybe you're not giving it enough break in time?I would say you should put at least 1000 miles on a new set of bearings before running 20+ psi of boost and beating all over the thing. That way everything has a chance to settle in a little bit.Like I said...
I would consider it moderately modded. Is the engine that he just had put in it completely stock or does it have aftermarket internals and the "block" has over 100,00 on it? If he blew up his engine I would assume he was driving it pretty rough or boosting it way too much on a stock engine...
It just doesn't seem like its worth it to meYou can get 300 hp for a lot cheaper than this, plus its an automatic which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I think most of us would prefer a manual if given the choice.
I bought a used EvoIII 16g turbo. Its the true MHI one(i checked serial numbers). It has very slight side to side shaft play but no in and out shaft play and its not touching the housing anywhere. so I figured I'd just rebuild it be fore I put it on my car to be safe. I need to know where...
Awesome, so that means the one on the left takes a 7-bolt rod bearing correct?I really appreciate your help. I'll be buying these through slowboy this time.
I bought the car with a spun bearing. It had eagle rods in it so I just bought a reman single rod to replace it. That was the one on the right but it didn't match the other three(they were like the one on the left) so I ended up just buying a whole new set. The Cap on the left is from that set...
I have a set of Eagle connecting rods for a 7-bolt engine I'm not sure if they're the new ones or the old ones. I have been having all kinds of trouble finding the correct bearings to fit these rods. I looked through some of the other posts on this topic and in one it said the tang on the 7 bolt...
Oh, sorry I didn't realize the rule. Whats wrong with the internals? Its been sitting in my garage for a little over a year but its been wrapped in plastic.I didn't build it myself I got it from another guy a long time ago. I have the papers on it somewhere around here but I'll have to dig...
I would probably just use a blue tarp or some of the thicker window plastic. They are both pretty inexpensive and I know the window plastic works well because my friend used to lay it down on his nice carpet under the beer pong table and it contained any spills really well.ROFL
lol Thats pretty funny. If you need the manual I have the 1g and 2g dealership service manual in pdf format and the 97-98 electrical manual too. let me know and I can email them too you. I just remember it being really hard to track them down online.
This is what the engine bay looked like when we first got it in the garage with the valve cover off.Pulling the Engine and trannyThe empty engine bayFinally on the standThe Diagnosis and The Plan
When we started taking everything apart we found that it was the number 2 rod that had spun...
I just got a 95 Talon Tsi with a spun bearing with quite a few parts on it but with a spun bearing. He said that he was only 700 miles into his build when he spun the bearing and it seems like he was telling the truth because there was no ridge in the cylinder at all and everything else seems to...
I'm just going to set the 7-bolt aside right now and use the stock 6-bolt rods and get them machined to fit the 2g wiseco pistons. It'll be a Frankenstein style setup but with the forged pistons instead of evo pistons.Sadly my 7-bolt crank journal and the rod on the #4 cylinder both got...
First off I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I've searched this and all of the other forum sites and haven't found an answer to this specific question.I'm about to do a 6-bolt swap on my 95 tsi AWD. I spent a lot of money building up my 7-bolt. IE: eagle rods, wiseco pistons...
