I unbolted part of the transfer case housing (drivershaft end) and took the cover off, and while doing so a plastic rod fell out. I want to put the transfer case back together but I am confused how and where that rod fit's back into it. Or if it is even needed for the re-assembly. This info...
I'm wondering if this is a direct swap or if there will be modification needed.I blew the motor in my '98 unfortunately and it's been sitting in the garage for a month and a half and I simply need to get it running asap, don't suggest a 6-bolt. The only available motor around is a '95.I've...
Thanks for the help guys but I resolved it. It wasn't the ground off the fire wall that connects to the throttle cable bracket. It was actually a ground for the boost or wideband gauge the previous owner installed. Why he grounded it there, I do not know.
Before I took apart my car I took pictures of everything so that I knew where it all went. Well I can't seem to find the ground that connects to the wiring harness bolt at the top right of the intake manifold. Does anyone know what this ground is for so I can locate the source?
I have the standard ARP headstuds / molylube to go with it. I looked up the part number and it's 3.346" which is 84.9mm so I guess it's correct. It's just not very good for "peace of mind" when the old one looks different, haha.
I don't want to go the MLS route since I only had the head decked, not the block. Will the larger HG bore be potentially unsafe compared to the correct bore size? I plan on running up to 28 lbs on a Buschur 20G.
I picked up a Felpro head gasket from O'Reilly's (pt# 9627PT) and it looked a bit different from my normal one. Looks like the cylinder seals are bigger. Is this normal or did I get a wrong head gasket? The stock one fits perfectly over the block surface. Here's the old HG:And the new...
It was after I test drove it around the block, and it did idle for maybe a minute or two while I looked at it. I didn't check the coolant reservoir or oil cap, unfortunately. Oil cap is normal for condensation though.
I was looking at a 98 TSi AWD to purchase and while looking at it (it was dark) I pulled the dipstick out and looked fine for the most part, except I thought I saw some white stuff on it. I didn't think much of it at the time, for whatever reason.I didn't purchase the car yet but I'd like to...
No, you do not want the engine to turn on. Disconnect all of the spark plugs from the coil (not the valve cover) or disconnect the coil itself and take out the engine fuse just to be sure. Crank it for a few seconds until the little pointer on the compression reading stops moving.
Welcome! I see you're from St. Louis, so you should register on GatewayDSM in case you should ever need any local help or assistance. I really like the idea of a Mirage with a 4G63 / Evo body conversion. It's something I've wanted to do myself but I doubt I would ever be able to finish it.If...
Bump.Ok so I've been driving the car around and it does somewhat decent. When it's cold it shifts like shit but what it warms up (60+ degrees) it shifts smooth as butter most of the time. Odd?Back to the motor mounts thing, when I'm taking a semi-hard right and I'm trying to shift, I can...
When I last posted I hadn't driven my car more than around the block. But I've been driving it for the last few days and it shifts pretty smooth. When I first start the car it sometimes doesn't want to go into any gears, but after I get it in and start driving, it works fine. I still have...
Gateway International Raceway. It includes a race track, a drag strip and a huge parking lot for auto-x and drift days.I'm from the O'Fallon area. There's quite a bit of us around here. During the spring/summer months we usually meet up on Thursdays at the Chesterfield Sonic, and...
That's probably because the person tried to put a 97-99 style coil on it. Those use a different connector, so you would have to do some rewiring to make it work.
Well I rebuilt the MC and it was shifting pretty good for a little bit. The problem still seems to be there though. I guess what's leaking out of there is my transmission fluid. So, my next question. If I can get the transmission dropped, am I able to replace all the seals easily? I should...
I've seen this car in person and heard the owner talk about it. I think he said that about 1000 hours of work were put into it. That doesn't seem like an easy swap to me.
For that random plug you have, look on the throttle body. There's two plugs on that, one on the side and one under it. If both of those are there, then check the Camshaft Pos Sensor. And yes the coil pack look right, although I have no idea what's going on with those wires.
There's been one or two people that have done an Evo 8 engine and AWD swap into their 3g. lolJust turbo or supercharge it. Swapping it would be way too much hassle, unless he's up for the challenge. And a challenge it will be.
If you're short on cash, I'd rebuild it. But before you do anything, take apart the old one and inspect the bore for any scratches or anything that could keep the piston from sealing. If it feels completely smooth, then a rebuild kit is the way to go. If it's got a scratch in it, you need a new...
Thanks a lot for the help. I finally looked inside the cabin and there's fluid leaking from the MC inside. :ohdamn:My problem now is that no place near me has a rebuild kit or even a new cylinder available so I'm going to have to order one. I'm just going to bleed the system and hope it works...
First of all, thanks for taking the time to write all that. lolSecond, I think the syncros are fine. This morning while I messing with the car, I did try to put it into all gears without the clutch. I had the brake on so the car didn't move at all, but the rpm's did drop a little bit and there...
I started the car up this morning and now it won't seem to go into any gear. When I try to put it into gear, it's like I'm not using the clutch pedal at all. If I pump the petal a few times, then I can put it into gear.Is that a symptom of a throwout bearing that's wasted?
I was driving around the other day, and all of a sudden it just didn't want to go into first or second without some patience. I've always had a little trouble getting into first, and have only recently had trouble downshifting into second but otherwise it's been fine.I'm thinking it could...
Bump, any updates on this?I'm having all the same symptoms. Car dies randomly, especially when cold. If I let it warm up to operating temperature it usually doesn't die. Sometimes it's difficult to start, I have to press the gas to rev it up so that it doesn't just die right away.I have a...
Redline and rev limiter are both 7k for me. However, I took my car to the track and sometimes it would hit the limiter at about 6850 and other times I made it a little past redline without hitting it.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out next time. But for now my car is running alright again. My brother actually just bought a 95 Eclipse, and his car wasn't running great either, so we swapped ECU's and they both ran great. lolI did just put my ECU back in and it ran alright, but I didn't...
Ugh.The new sensor failed after two days. That's what you get for going to Advance Auto Parts. I got a used one from a parts guy off ebay and put it in, the car ran great for about a week. I even went to a Mitsu meet which was about an hour and 20 minutes from my house and I got there and back...
I'm having a very similar problem right now, on my '95 ESi. Car starts and runs for about 5-10 minutes then dies. I replaced the Crankshaft sensor with a BWD one from Advance Auto and the car ran for 2 days then started acting up again. So me and my dad replaced the cam sensor and coil pack...
It was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. It's fixed for good now hopefully. It was covered in oil due to oil leaking from the top of the valve cover and onto the back of the engine. That shorted the connection for some reason after the engine got to running temperature. So we bought a new sensor...
Ok guys, it wasn't fixed after all. :(It was running just fine last night, but I took it on the highway this morning and it died while cruising at about 60mph, luckily there was an exit right there.I'm starting to think that it may be the fuel pump too. Today when it died a couple times when...
We didn't check, it's had the CEL on for awhile now due to other problems that have already been solved. But it turns out that it was just the coil pack or crankshaft position sensor wiring that was loose. Car runs fine now, hasn't died since. I'm probably going to replace the coil pack anyway...
It doesn't seem like anything triggers it to shut off. It runs fine after it's been sitting for awhile though. We brought it back home after I made that post and let it sit running for a bit. I'd say it ran idling for about 5-10 minutes and then just shut off without us touching it.
I was sitting in the line at McDonalds and then my car just shuts off, kind of hard. I tried turning it back on but it just sat there and cranked. So I had someone push it over into a parking space and let it sit while my dad came up. When my dad got there, I tried starting it and it started...
I'm in the process of lowering my car. After many frustrating hours with the front, I finally finished that up. But now after I took both rear struts off and try to disassemble them, there's ones metal sleeve bit that will not come off. It's part 41971 in the image below.Team 2GNT CAPS...
I can't really tell if it gets worse during driving, because the drivers side window assembly is F'ed up which causes it to be open at the back. Cabin noise is loud and echo-y because of that. I'll see about it tomorrow when I take it for a drive. It really didn't even make the noise that bad...
I just bought a 1995 Talon ESi a few days ago with a rebuilt motor and 25,000 miles on it. I was driving it around a small amount tonight (about 5 minutes) and when I got out I hear this ticking/knocking from the right passenger wheel area while the car was idling. I opened the hood and you can...
