I am stationed over in Germany and getting to the track is troublesome since they are only open 4 times a year near me. Oh and its on a flight line that isn't prepped. But anyways, I took the car out this weekend and ran a personal best of 10.149 @ 140. My launch was not so good with only a...
I didn't loosen any of them. Since I was installing my cams I though "I should check to ensure my head studs are still torqued to spec". So, I set my torque wrench to 100ft/lb and checked all the studs. Apparently your not supposed to recheck the studs, especially when there is oil and water...
That is why I am willing to ship back to the states. I am hoping that someone chimes in that has done this work before or know someone that is legitimate.
Below is the picture of my cylinder head. Do you all think it is repairable? If so, do you know someone who can repair it?Background behind it...I have custom age 625 head studs with OEM MLS head gasket. While I was replacing the camshafts I decided to check the torque on my head studs to...
I see that you did a FWD to AWD swap. I did the same swap and had the same problem. The issue was the starter plate. I didn't realize that the starter plate was different between the awd and fwd cars. I know that the AWD flywheel is smaller but didn't know the plate made a difference. The...
Does anyone know if the CPS from an EVO will work in my 95 2g DSM? I know that the part numbers are different but that is because it has a different length cable.
: JNZ Tuning has a great line of OEM parts. I just checked to make sure they sell doors and stuff, which they do. https://www.jnztuning.com/oempartscat.htmlAs for the hatch, the CF may be the best bet. Hope the website helps out.
+1 on getting a fairly stock DSM. Most engines tend to crankwalk after a fresh rebuild. Also you shouldnt have to touch the fuel pressure at all for the car to start. Sounds sketchy man.
If you have no budget you should get some 156mm Manley TT I-beams, High compression HD wiseco pistons, have the block o-ringed, dual valve springs and retainers, kelford cams, etc etc lol. That's a good start.
Wow, simply amazing. I love when people actually take the time and use their handy man work and fix something like this. Most people may have just called the head trash and moved on but this is nice work man.
I had a buddy that had this same problem. The issue was the pressure plate bolts were night tighten to spec. If those bolts don't get tightened all the way then you won't be able to disengage the clutch.
+1 on checking all your connections. I would grab every connection and just make sure they are secured. My car does this every once in awhile and its because the Ignition Power Transistor plug wiggles a bit lose. The car falls on its face and the tack goes crazy, sometimes the car even back...
If you could make these I'm sure a lot of people would by them seeing how there is such a problem with the plastic one. If I had the tools to do it I would def.
Hmm Maybe I will check this out. I know what you mean about the cheap flexing. I have had this before. You say the ones on eBay dont flex though? They seem pretty solid? Is this the kit that you have to cut and use JB Weld and stuff? I used it on the broken door handle and it didnt hld up...
I have searched here and on other sites but couldn't find anything recent. I am tired of breaking door handles and I remember seeing aluminum handles somewhere that someone was making. Anyone know somebody or some place that is doing this? Thanks ahead of time.
Damn well thanks for the good picture. Everything makes so much more sense with pictures!!Yeah That's how I knew something had to be done with the head. I found that thread earlier. Good write up.
Interesting. I would think its wouldn't be so difficult because they are basically the same 4g63. I think the head (evo9 head) has to be machined a bit. ie. drills water jackets bigger etc etc. As for the transmission I have no idea. Hmmm I know that with the 1g 7 bolt I have, it doesn't have a...
I understand thy te orientation of the engine is not the same. But let's say I took out a dsm short block. Turned it 180 degrees. Lowered it into a bare Evo engine bay. It wouldn't bolt up to the chassis with evo mounting brackets? Would the trans bolt up?
I have searched and couldn't find anything via Google. Is the 4G63 in an Evo the same as in a DSM? The reason why I ask, I know someone with an EVO 9 MR that his timing belt broke/oil pump gear shattered and he is trying to sell it to me for 10k. I started to wonder if my short block (1g...
My wideband is atleast 1 foot away from the end of the exhaust. I couldnt see fresh air getting all the way up there. Maybe at idle but not at WOT. Also I dont think it was a false reading since I was getting some knock as it leaned out.
So I was tuning my car on Thursday and dialed the AFR's in around 12-12.5. I took my exhaust off before the track on Saturday so I was just running open downpipe. My first run down the track the AFR's were wayyy lean, 13.5-14.0's. The only thing I did was take the exhaust off. Could the exhaust...
