Gusu is 100% right.. Synthetic oil has a higher flow rate.. flow rate is defined as mass of a substance which passes through a given surface per unit of time. When you don't change your oil it will eventually combine with combustion gases and causes the oil to become acidic. So with synthetic...
Check to make sure you have no shorts in your battery wires. The same thing happened to my buddy's 2g last year. We originally thought it was a bad relay b/c it was clicking just like yours is, but it turns out his positive wire from his battery was rubbing against a corner of the body and the...
Please explain your logic. He said he has 2 fans pulling air away from the radiator into the engine bay, so he has them on the inside of the radiator, so how would that restrict airflow while having them on at highway speeds?
It could depending on how long u let it run at 220 for.. I agree with gofer probably air still in the system.. If you have both fans running constantly and you have all the lines hooked up correctly now the issue is more than likely air pockets.
Youre issue is you are running 100% water with no thermostat. You don't want to run 100% water because it lowers the boiling point to 216 degrees. Since you live in Airizona you don't need to worry about freezing so you should probably do a 70-80% water 30-20% coolant mix. Also if you run with...
Verify it has the following: fuel, spark, and compression. Then do a boost leak test. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/169435-boost-leak-test-how-boostpro-net-tester.html It would have to be a pretty significant boost leak to cause your car to stall instantly. Do...
Whoever said it would digest rust? Its a good idea to spray any bolt with some kind of lubricant before putting a lot of torque to it. I never stated wd-40 alone is going to help him do anything..
What are you using to try and turn it? Are you using just a 1/2" ratchet with a socket? Have you or is it possible for you to get an impact gun to try and break it loose? If an impact gun isn't an option take your 1/2" ratchet, and get a very long/large pipe. The handle of a large floor jack...
You would just have to tape over the JMF engraving before u powdercoat it. Then the JMF will stay polished/silver and the rest will be black. I personally like intake manifolds in the polished/silver look but if you're going to do the black that should look nice too..especially if you have the...
Sounds like a bad MAF sensor. I know you said that it was previously changed but just for the hell of it try unplugging it and see if it runs any better. Next guess would be power transistor.
I have no personal experience with the journal bearing PTE's, I've heard good and bad things, but I have not one bad thing to say about my PTE ball bearing 6262. Great turbo and could meet or exceed your goals of 500whp in a t3/t4 form.
You will probably be able to drill through the extractor with a carbide drill bit and try again with another extractor, if not then drill the entire hole bigger and using a helicoil is an option. The helicoil size you need is m8x1.25.
I wouldn't even use the lucas stuff. I would run brad penn break in oil for 1000 or so miles. Change it then run brad penn normal oil or break in oil again for 3000 miles then change and run brad penn oil or whatever oil you like to run. Don't drive the car too light or too hard. As for the...
I would pick up 2 slim line fans that flow at least 1200 CFM. Summit racing has alot of options. You can go there if you live by one or order from summitracing.com. I personally run 1 puller and 1 pusher. About 1200 CFM's each. I have the puller in the engine bay on the left side and the pusher...
Evo seats are very comfortable.. I have a pair of Corbeau A4's. They aren't too expensive and they are comfortable and they keep you very planted in the seat. Great seat for road racing or drag racing.
I'm betting the problem is you have left your afc settings zero'd out. What you are doing when you hook up a safc you are taking the maf signal wire hooking it up to the safc and it is giving you a way to "tune" the maf. If you are not going to be tuning the safc yet then why even hook it up...
Yes replacing with 3g lifters is an option or you can just clean your lifters like RadDsm said. Take them out and clean them with kerosine or diesel gas until all of the gunk is gone. Check to make sure the lifters are not damaged. An easier option you can try first is running seafoam through...
Ya one can be had for very cheap.. If not I'm sure you can find a buddy or somebody who has one that would be willing to loan you for a minute. There is no other way to install head bolts/studs the correct way.
Bad MAF or front o2 could be the cause. Could also be boost/vacuum leak. If MAF is dirty I would definitely clean it first. You can clean it with electrical parts cleaner for wire connectors and such. Such as CRC electronics cleaner at autozone or whatever parts store. And do a boost leak test...
Ya GM IAT is definitely the norm.. You should also pick up one of these cables if you don't have one already.. Very useful when using a GM MAF or speed density. Would make wiring the IAT a breeze. :thumb:

:nono: I'm not trying to "flame" you. And the fact that your car has no airbags is just unsafe for you and whoever is riding in it. A brake caliper falling off and possibly causing you to have no brakes is unsafe for not only you but anyone who is driving around you. And I did give you advise...
You can't have a friend pick you up or something?? I definitely wouldn't drive it.. Extremely unsafe.. And not trying to be rude or anything but if you thought that putting a bolt in a cross threaded hole on a brake caliper was a good idea and was safe to drive a car like that, you probably...
If you're looking at general airflow 4.5 grams per second is perfectly normal. Should be around .25 airflowperrevsif you are using a datalogger. MAF should be around 25-50hz.
You will leave both of the top air ports open and hooked up to nothing. If you want to run .9 bar of boost then you will hook up one of the lower air ports directly to a boost source and use the supplied screw/plugs to block off the other lower air ports. You could cap off the 2 top ports if...
You are correct.. I've had it apart before..it's very simple actually.. But honestly I have to say I don't know what to look for as far as a bad diaphragm. Am I looking for tears, holes? What causes a diaphragm to be bad?
Where is there an o-ring? I haven't had my bov apart in a while but I don't remember there being an o-ring inside.. If there is Ill check it out.Ya I've been thinking about switching to a 50mm tial or something like that but I spend a lot of $ on my type-r back in the day and I actually...
First thing is check for any boost leaks, especially leaks around throttle body, manifold, ISC, etc. Then make sure MAF is dialed in correctly. If MAF is not dialed in right that could definitely cause stalling problems. 10.0 is obviously much too rich .. Make sure you have 0 leaks then get your...
I've had a Greddy type-r bov on my car for about 2-3 years now. I have never noticed this problem before so I'm assuming it isn't supposed to do this and is indeed a problem. I started having a problem with my car not wanting to boost past 25-26 psi, so I pulled out the boost leak tester. Found...
I would love to see the results of adding nitromethane. I have no experience with it but I would like to see your results. If you say you are getting 8-10% more power from just the additive then I would be very curious to see what kind of results you can get with tuning and other factors. Post...
It depends on what dyno you use, dynojet or mustang dyno and how good of tune you have. What are you using to tune with? Dsmlink or just an air/fuel controller? With the list of mods you mentioned at around 18psi and a good tune, you should be able to make 275-350 to the wheels on a dynojet.
Which battery are you talking about? As far as I know STM doesn't have their own battery. The only one I think they sell is the odyssey small battery. If you are looking for a small battery I'm not sure if they are ideal for a daily driver. I know alot of people use them in their "daily" drivers...
If it is rod knock you would not hear it from the top end of the motor aka the valve cover as the OP is. You would hear it from the block. The car probably has some kind of lifter issue which is the knocking noise you are hearing.
Honestly I would say keep the aluminum radiator if it is a good quality brand, i.e. Fluidyne, mishimoto, koyo..possibly a few others, and just get rid of your low quality fans as stated above. Most aluminum radiators, well at least the ones I mentioned, are much better quality and have a much...
OP.. Clean A4, I personally like the b5 and b6's better than the newer style a4's, but still very nice. Is that the stock suspension??? Looks very low to me.. but looks very nice like that.. I like it.Who told you it needed new pistons and rings? What caused this to happen? If its still under...
WOW! Glad to hear everyone was ok. Great product, to the company that designed/installed the cage. It's really good to see parts designed to do what they are supposed to. I don't think you can ask much more from a roll cage.
One good thing about living in ohio....I'm only about 45 minutes from Norwalk and Buschurs :hellyeah: Can't wait to see a bunch of nice dsm's that had to make a much longer trip than I do.
Are all of these boost controllers bleeder style? Are you sure you are hooking them up the correct way? If 3 of the controllers let you boost past 15 psi and yours doesn't then there is a problem with your MBC. BTW what kind of wastegate are you running? I'm guessing from your profile you are...
Come on guys.. distributor... really? :ohdamn: This isn't a v8. My guess is you are not getting spark on 2 cylinders. Verify which cylinders you are getting a spark on or not. Do this by pulling one of the wires at a time and see which ones you pull change how the engine runs. It's more than...
