    Retune?

If you have link v3, just get to know it well and tune conservatively on your own. A wealth of knowledge exists on the link forum as well as here. You can learn everything there is to know about it over a weekend playing around with it. Assuming you have the appropriate monitoring sensors to log...

    wheel fitment

I'll go into a bit of detail for reference.I have 18x7.5 Konig rims with +40 offset. They are wrapped with 255/35/18 BFG Geforce KDW 2s. (sidewalls are extremely wide over the rims obviously with the unsafe tire/wheel combo I chose) Car is lowered 2" front, 1-3/4" rear. The inner rim...

    JMF intake manifold

I'm surprised this thread is still open.Regardless, the OP never stated which turbo he was going to use. So going by what he currently has (16g), I see a lot of benefits with a SMIM. A 2.3L with the stock manifold is going to have a really quick torque curve that will fall off well before...

    JMF intake manifold

Yes. You can port match the runners to the gasket that mates with the head, and continue an equal port into the runners as far as your porting bit can go. If its a 2g head with a 2g manifold you'll have to open up the inlet to match a 1g tb, s90 tb, etc tb. If its a 1g head and a 1g manifold...

    JMF intake manifold

You can also open up the stock manifolds inlet diameter to match a larger throttle body. Or you can save face and go with the Race manifold. I'm sure you would be very happy with either, one is free but less appealing, the other is a work of art by JMF.

Backfire and power loss at high RPM's

Sounds like fuel cut.You may have;Boost Leak Front O2 not cycling (usually throws bank 1 fuel code as well) Huge exhaust leak pre front 02 showing your ecu a lean mix, in turn you get additional fuel Your boosting your car to 18psi like you mentioned with a slight boost leak and your...

My wifes Yz250 sometimes revved up by itself when Id leave it idling next to a tree in the morning before a ride. Ive came out before with it pinned for several minutes with oil leaking out of the water housing. Thorttle closed, choke ON.Damn ghosts, they always trying to blow my stuff up...

Share your thoughts on my fuel question?

By this weekend I will have purchased the following;Bosch 044 Inline pulling from my already re-wired Wally 255LPH in-tank -8an tank to inline pump to Fuelab filter to Magnus rail, -8an to Fuelab AFPR, -8an out to the fpr and -8an return line.

Share your thoughts on my fuel question?

when pressure is built in the line, there is more load placed on the pump. That's why every chart of a fuel pump shows flow decreasing as pressure increases.I'll check into that a1000 seems unreal!!Thanks 3kgt

Share your thoughts on my fuel question?

Yeah it looks as If I may have to go with an in-tank and in-line, I havent seen a single pump yet that I can trust which can flow 70 lbs/min @ 30-35psi (+base pressure). I know it is unlikely to achieve that but I want it to hold up.With (2) fuel pumps working on load pressures together im...

Share your thoughts on my fuel question?

That is another option but im really looking for a single. With the in-tank to inline; I have read that the inline still relies on the in-tank to pump to the inline so your not really getting double the flow which makes no sense to me because you do have two pumps working in unison on load...

Setting Cam Timing with Unkown Crank Orientation

I agree, if there's anything new needed; hydraulic tensioner, idler pulley, water pump, it'd be best to knock it out now with it all apart.
  22. EclipticalGS

Setting Cam Timing with Unkown Crank Orientation

You are correct I misread pauleymans intentions as I thought he stated the same info as DSM1G90. Either way to correctly ensure timing and tension, everything but the cams will come out.
  23. EclipticalGS

Setting Cam Timing with Unkown Crank Orientation

This is true, you can get the pistons to the middle, then rotate cams into position. Then return crank to TDC. But doing this still doesn't negate the fact that everything needs to come off except for the cams, that is if he wants to do the scenario you mentioned.
  24. EclipticalGS

Setting Cam Timing with Unkown Crank Orientation

Uhh..because if he took his belt off, any rotation of the cams or crank without the belt would ultimately bend valves if spun independently. Taking the cams out allows all your valves to depress back into their seats thus allowing rotation of the crank without bending valves.Come on this is...

    Oil change from Hell

I try to use WIX filters on all of my cars, they did however raise my cruise oil pressure by 5psi but your getting 90% or whatever they claim for filtering. They also butt rape you at $7 a filter. Also usually tighten until it snugs up and then one hand to twist the last 1/4 turn. Never had a...

    hitting a brick wall

To see those wideband values at idle, you have a large exhaust leak pre wideband o2. Fact.Whether or not this is your issue get this fixed and see if this huge leak is the culprit to your loss of power.A boost leak can also cause this but with different side effects. You would see a lean...

Fitting 18" wheels with 35mm offset

Hehe wife beat you to that.Of course being practical and all, the the thickness of the cast steel vertical bar in the area shaved was 27mm thick so a 3mm groove with about a 10mm radius is only 3mm depth at the deepest point and then exponentially returns back to 0. This was done along the...

O ring block problem, need help

The way that steel orings apply contorting to the head when not properly clearanced (mating grooves in the head) is the reason I don't use them. I work in the metrics field and can say that your head being torqued down onto steel orings is very uneven pressures to the head. Instead of...

    locked out of 5th gear

Like I've said before in your thread it could've been a temporary binding issue somewhere in your shifting mechanism and you'll be fine, or that your main and intermediate shaft is so loose it'll just take that one hard shift in the near future that snaps a roll pin off your shifter fork. An...

Rpms drop when clutch pushed in!!!

Yep coasting FC is set to 250. Something does sound weird about -25 vacuum at idle. Rpms drop when clutch pushed in!!!

This could be many things I stated before the ISC, tps, BISS you sound pike you have that covered. Rpms drop when clutch pushed in!!!

Well I didn't even see that you had a cps harness ECL...that could be a problem. Can you get a log of your car fully warmed up idling, and then press the clutch in? That would help a lot, log as many values as possible. I doubt your engine CW'd its got the split thrust bearings. You can do...

Turbocharging is about energy recovery... why not recover MORE?

For every 20* increase in IAT (intake temp), there has to be an increase of roughly 60* of EGT (exhaust gas temp) to create the same compressor outlet flow. At least this what I've seen doing research at work. So if @ 60*F IAT you achieve your power level @ 1050*F EGT, to make the same power...
  43. EclipticalGS

Turbocharging is about energy recovery... why not recover MORE?

This is why clean water piping that travels up a slope then down a slope must have a breather system at its peak. In the case of a loss in pressure even the force gravity would pull the water down both sides of the pipe and cause a vacuum at the peak, so great and with such high heat, a flash...

I got bored and made a subframe.

It is very possible that this subframe can handle the stresses it will endure on your car. I design a lot of subframe and suspension components and that is just a small percentage of what I do for future Ford, Nissan, Benteler, Cummins, etc. Production components for future auto's the reason...

Turbocharging is about energy recovery... why not recover MORE?

The Heat Energy made in a combustion engine is made of both the temperature and the flow of the exhaust gasses based on expansion. Heat Energy is what moves a turbine, and there is no such thing as heat energy without heat. More heat, creates more heat energy. Cooling down your EGTs will not...

Turbocharging is about energy recovery... why not recover MORE?

Heat energy is both the EGT and the flow of the EG at any given pressure. They work hand in hand your both right. For every 20* increase in IAT, there has to be an increase of roughly 60* of EGT to create the same compressor outlet flow. At least this what I've seen doing research at work. So...
