Selling my big port cylinder head with +1mm Brian Crower valves and Manley valve springs and titanium retainers. Changing up the setup and don’t need this head anymore. This cylinder head powered me to many wins and podiums, a 2021 Northeast Time Attack Championship, a GridLife win and track...
Also, we had to grind off a little bit of the block to get it to not hit, but it still didn’t fit. He’s going down to the X2C compressor cover to get it to fit.
It’s the first set of their 510 series on a 2G DSM. I think I did a review of them on my build page. I think a visual representation of how they perform says more than I could write.
They’ve been amazing! I absolutely love them. Feedback is great. Changed the cars feel in every phase of cornering. Control and rotation are stellar. Highly recommend if you have a track focused build. The 500’s are more of a street coilover. But the 510’s I have are amazing as a track coilover.
For those of you that haven’t seen or don’t follow gears and gasoline, tomorrow is the first episode of the chassis swap!! So proud and humbled to have been a part of this project. I truly hope you all enjoy it!
Ok cool. There was a rumor going around that they started making them in China and was curious if that had something to do with your current situation.
I’ve only ever used ACL race bearings in my engine builds. Never had an issue. Only time I ever had a bearing issue is when I went to the king and missed a shift at Pocono, spinning a rod bearing. Went back to ACL, and that motor was together for 5 years of track only abuse. When I took the...
Anyone have any experience or heard anything about this? Might be pretty awesome if it actually works.https://rzcrewgarage.com/products/sqs-racing-sequential-shifter-kit-mitsubishi-eclipse-d27a-dsm
I ran helical gears in my pump for the last 5 years. The engine only saw track duty. Theres some wear on the housing, but not terrible. I’m going to run a race shaft this year just to make sure the reliability is as close to perfect as I can.
I get it. I don’t consider myself liaison by any means, but because I’ve been a small part of it, I do know the behind the scenes stuff. I give them credit for trying to be as real as possible. Trust me, I get your points about what was said as far as not being more positive about the car. Ben...
Right. He could be going “the build quality is crap. The shifter feels terrible. There’s rattles everywhere.” It’s more about the road trip than the cars. The cars are a part of the road trip. Not the road trip is a part of a car review. I think that’s something people are missing. The adventure...
To be honest, this car was a last minute find. He had driven to PA from Virginia to see a car that was very promising, but the dude bailed on all his texts. He found this one while he was in PA waiting for the other guy. We had literally been searching all over for a car that fit his budget for...
Haven’t been able to get out to the garage too much lately. Just life stuff going on. But, I brought the dash inside and started working on the fuel tech setup. Really impressed by how much the fuel tech can actually do! TONS of available inputs to log. Excited to get it all together.
He literally says in the second video that the timing belt thing was his fault, and that while his car had been unreliable, it shouldn’t be a black mark on the cars as a whole. I feel like people won’t be happy unless he praises the car endlessly, gets down on his knees and shouts how amazing...
Having just spent time with him working on the car last weekend, it’s a shame you feel that way. He’s a super solid dude. I’m a die hard DSM guy and will always argue the positives of the chassis to anyone that says negative stuff about them. You have to remember that it still is a show that has...
I was actually helping him trying to find a car for the series. This one was the least basket case-y of the ones we found in his budget. The rust holes were found later as he was going over it. It’ll get better.
So as some of you have probably seen, the gears and gasoline YouTube channel bought and road tripped a 2G DSM along with an RX8. They definitely had some issues (not gonna spoil it for those that haven’t watched) but it’s a great series. Due to the fact that I’ve met Ben at gridlife events, and...
A little peak at what’s next. I’m the one in the 4g63 sweat shirt. With rival racing on my right and Ken from Black Sheep tuning next to him. And obvs Ben. Really awesome experience to be a part of.
Finally was able to get some work on the car done last week. Ducting for the coolers is pretty much all finished. I’ll work on finalizing all the connection points when the motors back in and we can figure out spacing. But pretty happy with how it all turned out.
Yeah…it’s been a pretty steady progression of try something, apply it fully if it works, change if it doesn’t. The splitter has been developed over the last few years. Granted it’s DIY plywood, but it works very well. Have to really have the template sent out and have it made out of something...
Yeah Mike at ProAwe is who I was talking to about the situation with the coolers. I want to do something with the front of the intercooler, but I’m very space limited. I’m going to be doing the front bumper like you see on the upper end time attack Miata’s and things.I just don’t have a whole...
Started working on a different setup for the ducting. After talking with a few people, decided to try and get some fresh air to the radiator. I had really wanted to keep the bumper as sealed as possible so we could increase front downforce, but, I guess we can always tape up the grill if we need...
Thanks for the input! Definitely some really good ideas and advice. I used to run a similar ducting setup on a different intercooler setup and it worked really well. I could turn the fans on and it would suck a piece of paper to the front of the intercooler. Something that should be kept in mind...
