White Racing out of Warren. Specializes in Grand Nationals but will work on anything. I have been to dozen shops in Michigan and this is the only shop that goes beyond expectations to make things right. So many shops see $$$ this is the only one that truly only cares about doing things the right...
I recently dropped off a transmission at TRE "http://www.teamrip.com/" and I just wanted to post about my great experience there. I got to meet with Jon his staff and his cats, they are such great, funny and most knowledgeable people that I have met. They tore apart my transmission as I stood...
When you have it in 5th and try to push it out of gear without pressing the clutch, what do you feel? does it just slip out? If you feel alot of vibration compared to the other gears, or it in deed just slips out, it may be a bad syncro in the transmission. Its always a guessing game till you...
I appreciate everyone's response. I have the car my buddies shop White Racing, they specialize in Grand Nationals and there fastest one goes 5sec in the 1/4. He is new to these motors but i trust his work and know he will do a great job. I will keep everyone posted on what we will find wrong...
I figure with more horsepower it would increase the chance of a crank-walk. I dont have much money, but can afford 3,000 in the rebuild. Thanks for the post
Hello all, i bought a DSM from a DSM tuners listing.http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/600whp-95-gsx-might-need-rebuild.479720/I need some advice whether to replace the motor with a 6bolt or to rebuild the 7 bolt.Im not sure what all i could reuse if I went the 6bolt route.I would hate to...
Looking for a good restoration shop in or near Michigan, few rust stops nothing major, tower braces, bottom of doors and inside rear wheel well are light-medium rust. Looking to get repaired and complete car repainted.
Right now i have an old haun racecraft big 16g, just looking to upgrade the setup with a better and stronger turbo. It would be nice not to have to replace everything however i dont think that will happen trying to go with the turbos im looking at. I need comparison with spool time and how much...
Ordered a COP setup today, a couple sellers were saying that a MSD ignition is needed for the COP setup to be efficient. I was hoping the DSM community could shine some light on the matter and clear my head with the confusion. Thank you.
Looking to upgrade my tubo set up. My goal is to run low 10's maybe 9's. I have run accross a few turbos and am not sure what would be the best for a street/strip type of car. The turbos im looking at are :HX 40
twin scroll Borg
Precision Turbo Billet 6262I am open to any suggestions on...
syncros on your first gear are going, almost time for a transmission rebuild. Mine does the same but in 4th gear, i dont drive it much so i will see how long before i need a rebuild. If you decide to get a rebuild from TRE see if they will give you a discount if we have a couple transmissions to...
Ok new optima red top battery and still no luck =(, may try to replace the power steering to see if that will do it.Has anyone heard of this clogged belt system? The shop says he can get the belts for it just need someone to clog the pulleys. This would definitely be a permanent fix.
Right now the car is at D&P auto, the guy there really is doing all he can to help me out. He is saying with the saturn alternator and smaller pulley a smaller belt would not work and that the alternator would be hitting the block, he says belts come in 1/2" increments. He is also saying...
Ok idler pulley has been replaced with no luck, its definitely coming from the alternator belt. Ive had 4 different shops look at this problem countless times with no luck.It started when the new motor was dropped in.Does anyone know of a great shop in Michigan to take a DSM 2?Ive...
Think im just going to leave the factory and 4 gauge on the positive post on the alternator, it seems to be working fine this way, was just hoping that someone that has done this mod could chip in.Everywhere i read no one is running a keyed ignition source to the regulator, so i don't...
According to these install instructions i need no pigtail, ive read other forums that say the same thing.Saturn 160AMP alternator installed with GREAT RESULTS!!
Using a 175 amp fuse. Not sure what u mean by incorrectly pined out pig tail, its a self regulating alternator, all im hooking up are positive leads to it.The problem occurs when the factory power leads are disconnected.
yes pistons and rods are interchangeable, its alot of money though to built and swap in a 6bolt. I went with a modified 7bolt from overbore.com that is guaranteed not to walk and just had them bore, balance, and build it with forged internals.
Ok Ive read so many different forums about this topic. Ive went from a Autozone belt, to a gatorback belt, to a Mitsu oem belt. Replaced the Harmonic balancer with a new oem (I do have a forged block bored .20 over) not sure if i should get a fluidampr to fix this?Everything is aligned...
I just find it odd if the factory positive wiring is reconnected everything is fine, if it was a bad ground, it wouldn't have anything to do with the positive wiring.
Heya ive upgraded my alternator to a 160amp saturn alternator on my 2g DSM. It is self-regulating and the reading that i have done, i have heard all i have to do is hook up a fused 4gauge cable to the positive terminal to my battery. It seems when this is done my gauge cluster and other...
OK what about this shimming of the pivot ball? Does this need to be done with all DSM clutches? and how much does it need to be shimmed, i read of on manufactures directions for installation and read nothing about shimming the pivot ball, but im reading many are doing so.
Ok so ive been doing tons of homework, right now im putting down close to 350hp at the wheels. This is my 3rd DSM,the first one i had had a centerforce clutch in it and it lasted as long as i had the car about 40k, ive been buying ACT clutches after so far ive been though 3 and every one of them...
