Hay so I figured out kind of whats going wrong finally. There is ether a short out right off of my ECU in one of the wires that kills the power to it or the ECU has some kind of problem that I can temporarly fix by hitting it hard enough lol. I just want to know finally if an ECU can behave like...
Well I was running in DSP last season (i'm sure it's D-class street prepared) I was allowed to have pretty heavy suspension mods like lowering springs/ sport shocks and struts or coil-overs, front and rear strut bars, larger sway bars (i don't have those though), slightly wider than stock tires...
I took out my A/C heat raditor thing and my car has never even show signs of over-heating since, so I'd suggest that you, but my a/c also didn't work so I didn't care that I took the whole system out.
Sry, I've been really busy with work this past week. OK well I found the relay and pulled it out and then plugged it back in and started the car. It ran fine and then I pulled out the relay again and the car shut-off (no duh). I now know my CEL is bad cause I notice the stock boost gauge will...
Hears a better picture of my ECUAlso where is the MPI relay located, it sounds like on 2g's it's inside but I don't have a car manual I don't know if it would be with the rest of the relays or what (really need to buy one)
Well I noticed the other day that the car shuts off after some clicking noise that comes from up front, and then after that happens when i turn the key to the on position I hear some wierd clicking noise (it doesn't sound like it's working properly ether) and then the car wont start any more
Ok so heres a picture of my ECU. Something I noticed is that it ran fine right before i pulled it out, and then after it sounded like it does when it doesn't so I'm willing to bet something is shutting it off as I'm driving. Sry the only camera I had way my phone
Sry I haven't posted back in a while. So I checked all of my fuses and they were all good as far as it seemed, and I don't really know if those black relays go bad or how to tell if they do. Anyway I've been reading the guide to fixing no-starts and have been wondering whats happening to my car...
Oh yea the CEL also never came on so I'm gonna throughly look at my fuses and relays to make sure they are in a working condition. Also what dose MPI stand for?
Ok so my problem still persists. I pulled out my ECU and it looked fine, like almost brand new, no popped caps, no corrosion on anything. For some odd reason as well I decided to un-plug my MAF-T and the car started, so I plugged the MAF-T back in and then it started with it in, which confused...
My compression as of a couple months ago was around 165 through and through give or take a couple psi on different pistons. I will look around for grounded out wires, but when it shuts of if I leave the clutch out it will down rev (like its running but then will rev down till it dies). I did put...
Well the car will crank just fine so I know the battery isn't dead and I just changed the alternator 3 months ago I'm starting to think maybe my fuel pump went out, but I dont wanna go buy a new pump to have it not fix my car
Ok, so I don't know what could be doing causing it, I'm thinking it's fuel related but then again I'm not exactly sure. So whats been happening is the car will randomly shut-off as I'm driving and then yesterday the just shut-off and now it won't start back up. I want to check my ECU and make...
Whoop sry about not posting back sooner, but that does sound like a bad ground to me. Since you also have your battery in the trunk what did you do for the grounds?
Cewl, hearing that though maybe the fuel pump you bought was bad or the wires to the pump are the best. But at least you can drive it for the time being lol
How does the car sound when you start it up, does the motor sound smooth or lumpy, like does it sound like it doesn't want to run and then dies or is it running fine at 2500 rpms and then just cuts off?
So can you start it, drive it and then dies, or did it just die and you didn't drive it since. Cause right now my car as I'm driving will die, and it seems like it wont start again for a bit. I've been thinking it was my MAFT cause i accidently got it wet a little while back, but it doesn't...
Thats a pretty big list you got there, I would highly suggest going to vfaq.com for some detailed DiY car work (they include a lot of pictures usually). Or while your getting all this stuff just go buy a Haynes manual at Napa or something (the best manual I've found so far for the money). One...
Well, it could also be something with your fuel too, have you ever changed your fuel filter yet. Thats what bit me in the ass when i first got my car. Or it could also be a boost leak of sorts, if you haven't boost leak tested the car yet I most definitely would.
I've always thought to never go over 17's ### it's looks like they'd rub or be really close to rubbing. I have some 17's that i run for autocross and they fit the wheel-well just fine and they look great (i dont think i have any pics of them on DSMtuners tho) As for horse power gains, it just...
Not to be thread jacking but this should be easy to answer, how could I tell if my clutch peddle assembly is bad then? ### I've adjusted my transmission and master cylinder in every way i know how too, but it still grinds a little bit into third and second some times (it could be a syncro problem)
It sounds like an O2 sensor to me, but it's weird that the CEL turns off on ya. When my friends went out his light stayed on, but that's neither here nor there. We bought his from NAPA and it seemed to work just fine, it didn't look exactly like OEM though, but the data logger said everything...
Oh ya I tried the duck call thing, and it didn't really work, it was like the duck call was getting too much air to work, anyone have suggestions on which kind of duck call to buy?
And that's the problem with your average run of the mill DSM owner, who just sold there Honda cause the couldn't afford to turbo it, and bought a DSM instead.
I guess I could of look a bit more thoroughly next time but yeah I figured that I couldn't run it with out a FPR, but I just wanted to see if anyone had some ideas. Thanks
Ok so I have a MAF translator with a 3" GM MAF, 550cc injectors, and I have a walbro 255lph fuel pump. So my question is that, can I run this set-up without using a fuel pressure regulator, I was looking to run about 16 pound, or what ever this set-up permits me to run. Any feedback would be...
It doesn't actually sounds like a wine, more like a rapid vibration, or something. The turbo did have a little shaft play when i put it in, so I can only see it getting worse (can't check it right now though)
Well firstly you sound like your having the exact same problem as my 91 TSI. When I went to examine my master cyclender I noticed a bit of fluid around the boot, so I'm going to replace that and the slave cyclender while I'm at it. So maybe you could try the same and it may help, I dont know...
Well when you start any car up when its cool out its gonna smoke because of condensation in the exhaust, but when its warm out and the car is warmed up and it still is smoking a lot then you have a problem. Something I'd would look into is if who ever put the head gasket on, did they reused the...
Ok so I just bought a used GM MAf and MAFT and I noticed that the MAFT didn't have the plug that went to the GM MAF, so I went to the Junk, found the right plug, and pulled it. I do have the appropriate plug for my DSM though, but it has five wires hanging off of it, 2 of which I'm pretty sure...
Or you could try welding it, like with a tig or mig weld (I like mig more, makes cleaner welds), which might be kind of hard given the amount of space under the dash, and make sure not to light your car on fire. ;)
Personally I swear by the junk yard, so that's the first place I'd start looking. Then if you can't find it you may just have to go dealer which sucks, but so does not driving your car.
OK so I don't really know if I even have a problem because I may just be a worry wart knowing I drive a DSM and am just waiting for the slightest thing to go awry. But what i have noticed is i get this weird noise part way through spooling, that kind of sounds maybe like a bearing or something...
how could you tell if the crank was toast cause i bought a parts car that supposedly spun a bearing, but looked at the crank and i didn't feel any scores in it, and i was thinking of rebuilding it just as a spare motor. Also who can you tell when a bearing might be going out, like what might...
Im having the same problem, and I too have adjusted the linkage, but it never went straight in smooth, always a little clunky. Also sometimes it wont go into first or reverse (i have to play with it). The guy I bought it from also said that the transmission has a longer fork?!? dont know which...
Well if you havn't try'd, try this. Ok look at your transmisson, and on top of it there should be 2 cables bolted down with one bolt, not so sure about the probe though. Loosen the bolt, and turn it back and forth. Mean while some one in the car shifts from 1st-5th gears. The shifting should...
I bought my 91 TSI with a welded rear end, and its the stupidist piece of crap ever. I haven't checked it yet, but if it was supposed to be an LSD, ill be even more pissed. Speaking of which, is there a way to un-weld a rear end like with a die-grinder or something, or would the gears then be...
I here that, my friend has a 80's Camero and thinks just cause I have a 4 cyclender his car is way more badass. But whats so fun about not having any handling and only having a chevy 305 with 170 crank HP (ROFL). He likes to think that having a turbo and awd is like cheeting, cause its too easy...
Is it hooked up properly, like what happens when you pull you key out, dose it keep you car running, or dose it just shut off. Something I wanted answered about turbo timers, is when do you use them though. Is it better to use it during winter rather than summer (i have hot summers and cold...
Sounds like a big list to accomplish, and do you plan on using your small 16g for all of that. If I were you'd I'd at least get a Evo 16g or even a 20g, but what are your HP goals set at (I dont know if you metioned them), I was always told to get a HP goal and find the mods to get there rather...
I would guess find a website that sells it and find it for DSM's. But if you really want a louder sound, and still want to make better HP, then just buy a hard intake pipe. It wont be as loud as a vented blow off valve, but people will notice it. Personally i think vented is a bad idea
Ya I looked retarded when I was at Shucks and couldn't replace my wiper blades in the parking lot while it was raining and my old blades were torn to hell, so i just drove home a failure. When i got home i noticed the pin, so i yanked it out with some pliers. If you do that, then you should be...
Ya it sounds like you have a welded diff to me, cause I bought my DSM like that and the guy I bought it from told me he welded it. When I go around tight corners or have to back up the outside tire always slips and will chirp. One thing I was wondering though and hope some one can answer my...
