Now, I know I'm not supposed to ask any questions about how much power I would gain on any givin swap:D but....with the mods I have and running the same boost, does anyone have a guess at what hp I could gain just doing the swap?
So I've been thinking of doing a budget 14b swap since I'm trying to save to buy a new house and I'm not sure if I really want to keep throwing fist fulls of cash at my car. I already have an Intake, MBC and boost guage, EVO III BOV, EVO III o2 housing with 3" Megan Racing exhaust including cat...
Honestly, I'm running a EVO III dp with a 3" Megan racing exhaust including cat delete and I don't think it's THAT loud. I guess I just like waking the neighbors :thumb:
That's what I figured. One thing I've always wondered is why people don't use any type of Silicone intake piping. I know quite a few aftermarket performance applications for different vehicles use Silicone. It just seems like it would be easier to do a custom intercooler pipe setup if you didn't...
Yeah, that's the type of thing I was wondering about. I think that would probably work for what I need. Does that type of setup exist in a full UICP or would I need to have someone custom fab it up?
Here's another picture of the EVO MR. As you can see, it does have an adapter flange that I think could be taken off. I just don't know what bolt spacing is of the flange.
Ok, so I've been searching around and I still haven't found an answer so I'm just gonna ask. Does anybody make an UICP for the 2G that will take the EVO 9 MR BOV? It fits the stock 2G UICP perfectly when you use the little rubber sleeve that's on the stock BOV. Do any aftermarket UICP's exist...
Yeah, but I kinda cheated. I just pulled the intake out and attacked it with some air tools without even cutting the epoxy out. I was able to grind it down to where it's pretty much perfectly smooth and flush with the intake pipe. Once I was satisfied, I blew out the intake tube with the air...
Yeah, at this point I'm running an Evo III o2 housing and full 3" megan racing exhaust with cat delete. Even with all that noise I can still hear my BOV Whoosh!!!
As of today, you can officially add me to the class of NINJA ROFL. I installed mine fairly easy. You just need the right tools and a 12 pack of Samual Adams, haha!
I actually had a pretty big issue with the fit of the Megan Racing dp to my stock o2 housing. The studs are way too close to the pipe and I really couldn't get the flange to mate up flush without it leaking. I got an EVO III o2 housing today and I'm gonna take a shot at installing it saturday...
Today was the first day I've driven mine since I installed it over the weekend and it's leaking at the o2 housing. It's extremely hard to tighten the dp all the way flush to the o2 flange because of the weld on the dp. I'm just gonna buy an EVO III o2 housing and hopefuly solve my leak and gain...
The dp holes aren't the problem because they're actually slotted. It's the fact that the studs on the o2 housing are too close to really get the nuts tight. I think the Evo III is my answer though. It looks like it would fit it a lot better.:thumb:
Thanks! I just bought a Megan Racing 3" dp and it doesn't mount up to the stock o2 housing very well. The corners of the bolts rub on the pipe with every turn and I've got a slight leak between the two flanges because I can't tighten the bolts very well.
Is the stud spacing on the EVO III where the DP mounts up any wider than the stock 2G? I'm having issues mounting my 3" dp to the stock o2 housing. Any help on this would be great.
I got mine on friday and installed it yesterday. What a pain in the a$$. I spent 6 hours on the cold garage floor. I got it to bolt up to the stock o2 housing but I'm definatly gonna need a new o2. The bolt circle on the stock o2 housing isn't big enough to have clearance for the bolts. I can...
\Nope, I've never heard anything like that from the Evo MR. The only time I notice the bov is when I let off. I love it! Inside the car it almost sounds like I'm venting to atmosphere. I myself like the nice Whooosh sound. It lets people know not to mess with it. :nono:
Honestly, it's got a pretty good "whoosh" in between shifts. Now I'm not sure if that's because I'm running 15 psi now, and my stock plastic one could hardly handle stock boost. Either way, I don't notice any "whistle".
I got my MR 3" catback from Boneheadperformance. It's installed right now and I love the sound. My MR Dp should be at the house tomorrow and installed sometime this weekend. I've got a vid of just the Catback here......... <param name="movie"...
I finaly decided to order my 3" MR dp to make it a full turbo back setup! I can't wait to see if it's a noticable gain in power. I think I'm gonna do a budget 14b swap next. I've been looking around and it seems like for the type of power I want and the money I'd like to spend, it's the cheapest...
What type of issue did you have? Since we both have 95's I'm sure I'd have a similar issue. I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I attempt to do it myself.
Yeah, but I knew the manager so I got all parts and labor at dealer cost. It's worth it to me to know that the service was done right. Now I'd like to get the Megan 3" dp and track down a good 1st gen turbo to swap with my tiny 2nd gen or maybe something bigger, who knows. I guess that just...
Ok, just an update since I haven't been on this thread for quite a while. I got looking under the car and found that one of the hangers wasn't even bolted to the frame. I found bolts that would fit it and mounted it back up. It hangs a lot higher than it did so I'm pretty happy with it now!
I'm thinking about just getting the 3" dp that connects right to the Catback. But that's when I decide to dump more money into the car, which probably won't be long.I NEED MORE POWER!ROFL!ROFL!ROFL!ROFL!
Ok, NGK plugs installed at .028" and all is right with the world. I went ahead and regapped the Platinums to .060" (per the Bosch website) and I'm gonna throw them in my brothers Sunfire GT.
So today I went to autozone and asked for the plugs. The guy looked in the computer and said "those plugs look like they're platinum too." I told him he was wrong and I said, I think I'll go somewhere else. I drove across the street to Advance Auto and they knew exactly what I needed. I'm done...
Wow, aparently I should slap the shit out of the fine folks at autozone then. They were the ones who suggested these plugs. Well, I guess it's what there computer sugested for my car. Guess I'm going back to the zone tomorrow to buy new plugs. (On a side note, I read thru that thread and...
It looked like the plugs and wires were all original, or at least fairly old, so yesterday I installed new Bosch Platnum Plus plugs and Bosch performance wires. I was also at the 3000 mile mark from when the dealership changed the oil when I bought it so I went ahead and changed that too. I...
Yeah, I know the service manager at the dealership where I had the timing belt done and he went ahead and hung it for me. The head mechanic said the hangers on the exhaust were off compaired to the stock hanger location so he had to mod some things. I'm not sure if he got it right or not. I'd...
Honestly, I was a little disappointed at how low it hangs too, but the sound more than makes up for it. Plus, the pictures were taken kinda uphill on my driveway. I don't think this video does the sound any justis though. It sounds so much better in person. :thumb: I might see about getting it...
Ok so I finaly got around to snaping some picks of the exhaust installed. Plus, I got a short video.<embed...
So I got the car back yesterday and I couldn't be happier with the sound of the exhaust. I took it easy driving it home. I basicly just wanted to make sure everything was ok with the belts and such. This morning I cranked the boost up to 16 psi on my way to work and I decided it was time to...
Yeah, I'll definatly post pics after the install. I'll try to get a video if I can.I installed the high flow filter W/ adapter today. I love the sound of the car sucking in so much air ROFLROFLROFL
I'll get the hard intake pipe and hard intercooler pipes down the road when I deside to...
Yeah, but I know the head of the service department at a major dealership so I'm getting it at cost! I'm gonna see if he'll throw on the exhaust while there at it.
I just got this yesterday and I thought I'd show it off. It's the Megan Racing 3" cat back. I'm having my timing belt, water pump, all the tensioners and accessory belts replaced on Thursday and I'll have the exhaust installed after that. :thumb:
