I love seeing people keep the 4g63 alive! Let me know if you ever figure out a plan to get the A/C system working.Oh I just checked my build post(I haven't looked at it in years), you already got the motor mounts figured out. My Project is still alive and running, I just don't post. I never...
Update:It is impossible to set the timing using a timing light. Hours spent and time wasted it is not possible. I may have to cut a hole in the firewall just to verify and set the timing.
SWith Trying to go AWD in an mr2 it is going to require a custom casing for the gear box as well as some good reverse engineering since the rear diff and transfercase are completely opposite side on a dsm. You will also have to run a fuel cell or something since a driveshaft is not going to...
Paint is good from far but far from good.
Since I just have to get the gauges and tune taken care of to be drive-able, let me know if you are curious on anything on the build.also always working on projects so the garage is always a mess.
exhaust + one of my ugly mounts as long as they...
Since my motor mounts are booger welded I didn't take any pictures. When they break or I redesign them or have to take them out I will take some pictures.
I have been having a hard time managing my time, too many projects so little time probably should get rid of at least 3.Cars:
87 MR2 2zzge ( I have a supercharger for it not worth the headache installing it)
02 wrx bugeye
91 SW20 mr2 4g63
90 300zx stock vg( recently caught on fire but...
so I ended up finding reasonable cables from https://jb-custom-fabrication.myshopify.com/. 96" cables seem to work best as far as wrapping all the way around. One had to be cut and modified for the 2" stroke and rod out length. The cable holder on the rear also had to be moved back at the...
update: finally got around to pulling the transmission back out and apart besides the reverse idler sleeve bearing needing to be cleaned up there wasn't much wrong but after some searches I found out that I put the syncros for 5th and reverse were in the incorrect order. I will have more...
Quick update I had to get two different(but same part number) shaft holder tools to take the transmission apart, i didn't find anything wrong with it. I put the transmission back together and there seems to be an issue with the shifter levers and cables, I am working on the problem but other...
I had to take a break from the build for a bit so I could work on a quick little 2zzge Aw11 swap( 4age motor blew). I should be wrapping that build up in about 3 weeks and I will continue to work on the 4g63 build. Also, before I paused the project I was able to drive the car in 1st and 3rd...
@spyderdrifter I want to getting it running and driving then I want to take everything apart mainly for documentation. I want to make sure all my bolts are tightened to spec, I want to paint the bay with just some spray cans just to clean it up and I also want to clean up my welds on my motor...
I am almost done, currently working on drivers side axle and gauges but i will take everything apart once i get it test driven and registered. i will include all mods , full documentation and all the parts and strategies i used. I am terrible with posts but i will make full guide or at least...
This is my first build thread but I completed the whole 3vzfe swap, except the tranny and clutch stuff, I just couldn't get it to start/stay running, there wasn't a large aftermarket, I missed my dsm and I didn't want another fwd. There isn't a large market for the 3vzfe if I had a second...
Here's a pull away shotHere is a link to an album that shows a 4g63 Aw11

@GPLaserRS That Fiero really made me want to just take the risk and do it (especially after seeing matt farah's one take). The big difference between the Fiero and the MR2 is is that Fiero has a ton of room especially between the axles, the mr2 is limited. I still have the 3vzfe, it is from a...
I have had the MR2 (sw20) for 3 years, i purchased the car without an engine. I originally planned to swap the engine with a 4G63 but i decided against it in attempts to be a purest. I went ahead and installed a 3vzfe but never could get it to start. I tried for about a year while working on my...
I am not an expert this is experimental and following this guide could blow up your car or just ruin a perfectly good ECU.So, apparently, H8 Spyder ECUs are not sought after, even though they can be flashed to a turbo rom. Why? The reason is that the fuel pump pin 8 does not operate the same...
update to 2016 full turbo swap complete. NT pistons are solid used for 2 years @ 9 to 14psi, then decide to do a balance shaft delete and ended up putting some 1g turbo piston in an NT block. I got most of my part used , its cheap and easy, the most expensive things are going to be the turbo...
It's easier to remove the manifold so you can remove the turbo from the top, but you can remove the nut and bolts from the turbo manifold that attach to the turbo,as well as the downpipe drainback, oil feed and coolant lines and drop the turbo through the bottom of the car.
idle surge is an SOB. Just block the ISC along with the fiav , terrible cold start but a little warm up in phoenix weather no problems no surge magic ROFL
OK, Well at some point we are plagued with the dreaded idle surge not only does it cause MPG to decrease, it is probably the most annoying thing that you can experience at a stop light.Well I had a cold idle surge for years then it was finally fix ( after thousands of forums) by using a by...
You have two options flush it or scrap it get a new engine. If you flush it you gotta get something that gets rid of the oxidation, its going to cause nothing but problems. A simple water hose might not do the trick
Is this just with dsmlink or is it the same for Evoscan because once I log with it and try to pull codes(it never works) the port wont connect to any scanner.
Thanks for the low coolant tip. I was freaking out because I just got rid of my idle surge with the FIAV bypass plate (after 3 year of having it ) and I thought it coming back , I have to say it's the most annoying thing ever.Does it surge when cold, warm or both?
a simple flush might not work, gotta get rid of that oxidation some CLR never fails, then you can get the distilled water and wetter water or antifreeze if it get that cold where your at. i never worry about it living in Phoenix :Dalso if the cooling system looks like that you might wanna take...
J-pipe
oil feed line (Turbo Oil Feed Line DSM Eclipse 1g 2G TD05H 14B 16g Turbo to Oil Filter | eBay) its so pretty
oil return line( t25 bolts are wider)
you can make the coolant line fit with a little bending
When I use RTV I like to put an even layer on the oil pan let it cure, apply a thin bead on the block, then tighten it up. I think just putting the RTV on and tightening the bolts doesn't make a good enough seal. For the turbo, using RTV is just going to get destroyed by heat of the turbo.
really depends on how well your idling sensors are working if you have block FIAV or IAC. I like a quieter idle when im stopped (oil pump or cams are too loud) im around 750
2g's use the mdp sensor to estimate the boost. but its better than 1g's that use the maf. gotta get an aftermarket gauge, a cheap one will work but you're probably gonna end up getting something like an autometer gauge because the cheap one just wont be accurate .
well im kind of curious myself i had a 2g knock where the wire(s) were pulled off but there reallywere no two wire one is like a shield and one is the signal but there was only one wire that actually connected to the knock sensor the wire seems to just split somewhere

Im looking for some trades straight up i need:a knock sensor
1g bov
turbo 2g maf and clean air piping
td05 turbine housingi have lots of extra parts
alternator
2g and 1g turbo manifold
t-25 turbo
....
idk what else but if you have what i need just let me know what you want for it
I had a similar problem, when i was going full speed i would press the clutch and the car would stall. I had fuel/pressure leaks, I fixed them and haven't had a problem with it again.
Block FIAV yes but use ISC it makes it easier to control idle without only relying on the biss screw, so i would say try to us a FIAV bypass plate and loop the coolant line with this the surge should disappear.
