That's an impressive gain in mph on pump with just the addition of cams. You're using methanol injection, correct? What size injectors is everyone using? I can't seem to get a decent pump tune, and I'm curious to know if my EVO 560cc injectors are holding me back.
Good pass. What was your 6o'? Mine was a 1.6x on the 12.4 run.Come back and let us know how the turbo holds up once you get the cams in--whether or not you pick up some power or mph at the track. I was very disappointed to not see any power gains from the addition of cams.
Hey guys,Last season I was able to take the Big28 to a 12.553 @ 109.06 on 110 leaded race fuel. I put in Brian Crower 272s for this season, and have not picked up any mph. The best so far this season has been a 12.424 @ 109.47 which is attributable to a better 60'. It seems this turbo is...
I finally got to make it out to the strip last Friday, and was able to clock off a 12.985 @ 105.63 run. Very happy considering that hitting 12s was my goal for the season and I was able to do it the first night out. Previous best last yr, before the FMIC, was a 13.3 @ 102.7. Only other...
Seriously, go to your nearest Sears, and look at their stuby 12mm combo wrench. It should work for you unless you have some freakishly short intake runners that bring the throttle body closer to the head. It costs ~8 bucks itself. Those of you having trouble getting the nut started b/c the...
For all the T25/28 people, the 90 degree coupler ended up working, so I didn't hack off the outlet. You will need a slimfan to replace the passenger's side cooling fan. Add that to your expenses. The LICP angles toward the the radiator, but it will work.Blow-through is also possible...
At WOT, less airflow "seen" by the ECU goes into a more aggressive timing map i.e. more timing advance.Cars with large injectors (>550cc) and no compensation via a chip tend to experience too much timing due to the correction on piggyback devices. Too much timing advance leads to knock...
Here's what I did:
I cut the radiator support so that there was enough room to fit the IC outlet and have some room for slight adjustment.I drew a vertical line through the center of the foglight bracket bolt holes to be used, so I knew where to start drilling later on.With the upper...
Could you give me an idea how much you had to cut off on each side of the center section? Top, bottom, and sides?I'd appreciate it. That could save me some time and frustration (I have little patience) not having to trim, fit, remove, trim, fit, remove, etc...I'm going to have this...
Honestly, I don't know how it's possible to bend the PS cooler lines behind the bar without removing and reinstalling it. That's why I decided to just remove it and loop the line at the resevoir. You may need to trim that last bit of metal of the top left of the radiator support. Cut just...
The reason I kept that vertical bar is b/c of the hood latch. I didn't want the bottom of the latch to bend inward and cause problems with shutting the hood if it was cut out.The triangle portion of the bumper support gets in the way of mounting the IC. I was concerned the bumper may sag a...
Well, I got my reducer couplers for the blow through set up yesterday, and it looks like there'll be enough length for it. Just need to cut off a couple or so inches off the TB pipe.I tried to get the lower piping done, but the dump tube on my modified 2G O2 housing was in the way. I had...
cfisher: Only bracket I've had to bend so far is the one that my horn is attached to.MarsaGSX: Are you speaking of the lack of beads of the ends of the pipes? Only way to find out if the clamps and couplers will hold w/o the beads is to get the piping run and do a boost leak test.
I thought someone in this thread had mentioned using the foglight location with the XS Power kit, so I only assumed the pipes would line up. I have yet to run the pipes as I'm still waiting on some couplers and what not. I figured I could make use of my time and mount the IC ahead of time. It...
I removed the power steering cooler and looped the hose back into the fluid resevoir.I was able to mount the intercooler the other day, but still waiting on a couple things to run the piping. I bought some reducers for the 3" GM MAF and going to attempt to fit it b/w the BOV and throttle...
Looks like I'm going to have to relocate the tranny cooler.Geezus_Aach: Which cooler did John at IPT recommed to you? Thanks.EDIT: Nevermind, quick search got me the answer, sorry.
Go to page 10 and follow the instructions on post #274 by my98gst. Someone will reply to your e-mail with your payment options, which include paypal and credit card through their website.
Go to this thread to post #493, which has pics of custom piping from a Big28 to a JRC FMIC. I'm going to try something like that. If it's too much of a hassle, I'll just chop the outlet elbow like Dejon suggests for their FMIC kit.
There are different cooler locations among the 2G years. I have a 97 GSX, my tranny cooler is in the driver's side air duct. I'm hoping I won't have to relocate it when I put in the FMIC.
You had said not to use our paypal account, but how are we supposed to send payment to them if that's what we want to do? I've sent them an e-mail via my personal e-mail, but they have yet to respond to me as well.Edit: I just noticed you had said ebay account, not paypal account. So, for...
I agree with kraka. An RPM based curve of wideband AFRs would be of use. But for now tune conservatively, as everyone has said, and add fuel. I believe kraka meant to add fuel were timing starts to drop. ;)
Bottom line is the knock count is way too high, and adding fuel won't hurt the motor while trying to lean out (due to high wideband AFRs) can be dangerous. If you don't have a chip to compensate for injectors, then I see why you're getting a high knock count. With 780cc injectors, you've...
Yup, I was looking at their kit before I stumbled upon this thread. I'd rather not chop the compressor housing, so I may try to piece something together.
You're getting way too much knock up top, particularly 5k to redline. Tuning by narrowband readings isn't really accepted these days, but from the knock and the voltages (steady decline in that range) it looks like it's leaning out. Whatever you're tuning with, give it more fuel in those...
Piping connection to turbo outlet. I have the FP Big28 as well. Care to share any details on the fabrication required to make the pipes work.Close up of drivers side piping into the intercooler. Just want to get an idea if I'll have to relocate my a/t tranny cooler that's in the driver's...
Just wanted to say that it was cool to meet you guys. Hope to see you all around or at the track. To the fella with the 2G FWD w/18G and SAFC2: I was wondering what type of fuel pump you are running. If you're running a 255 lph pump or larger w/o an adjustable FPR, that may explain your...
I don't go to IUPUI, but I'm in the area often as my friends are students there. I'm usually in the Lockefield Gardens visiting. White 97 GSX w/white 5 spoke wheels. I live around the Butler Univ area. Honk if you see me :) I'm willing to meet earlier.
