I will keep this short and simple. I have a '92 TSi completely disassembled in one of my shops. I have almost all the parts for it and have no desire to re-assemble it. I've been in the DSM crowd since Forrester Racing was a big name and back when AMS had three employee's. If there truly is a...
I didn't look to hard for you, but I took a good five minute look at your car in Monroe last night. I had my VR4 out but not at the car show. So when I finally get Link you going to come help me out? Your car is very impressive close up in a subtle way. Keep up the good work. Maybe I'll pull the...
Check out this link! http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/graphics/subaru_oil/Forced%20Performance%20Recommendations%20for%20Motor%20Oil.pdfI use all Amsoil products. Dominator Oil from 10-30 to 15w50 in my performance engines and Amsoil Premium 10-40 in my Galant VR4 with over 190,000...
I would also recommend you have a shop do it. Just call around a bit and you should be able to find a shop with the tools to do it just like oem. The shop I work at has a very nice $15000 spot welder that can do about everything. :thumb:
KYB has GR-2 and AGX. I have run both. My VR-4 is equipped with GR-2s at the moment with unknown 2" drop springs and has a relativly good ride quality. My 2G has GAB's in Front and AGX in rear with Eibach springs and is a rough ride but handles pretty well in corners. If you are looking for a...
I'm amazed how a little statement has evolved into this great discussion. So for all the college kids on here I hope you all learn that cheap Ebay parts=less vendors and eventually no parts at all.
Anyone also notice FFWD will no longer be building engines for us. Pretty sad since that is where one of mine is from. I've always tried to support as many vendors as I can. I even spent $1200 on just my gauges. Can't call me a cheap DSMer.
Not sure when it happened but I see AMS no longer supports the DSM crowd anymore. I went to their website and found they no longer have a tab for us. :hmm: I say we vote them off this island.
Local 9 Line Clearance Worker. Trim trees around 12KV or higher power lines all day. Proud member of one of the top three most dangerous jobs in the world. Can't complain though. Pays good and I keep the power on for everyone in Northern Illinois working on 4G63 cars.
I would definitely say you must have something else wrong. I have my battery relocated to the trunk in my VR4 and it started fine the other night at about 10° . Of course it's a little bit better than the Odyssey brand and most other small batteries. Braille batteries rock.:hellyeah:
Yeah... I asked for her permission. When she said it was ok I knew we were meant to be. I knew that any girl that's fine with me buying a car over a ring was the one for me. I am now in the process of finding her a dsm/vr-4/sti/evo .:D She wants to build one now.
I had the money in hand for my wife's engagement ring with her in the car. I was on my way to get her ring and low and behold... do my eyes deceive me... a 1G for sale! ...SWEET! Lets just say I bought the car and married my wife a year later. :thumb: I'd say she's a good sport.
As stated above you are going to need to have a way to control everything you've listed. If I were you I would verify that you even have anything done as far as your head and bottom end go. Sounds like you don't really know a whole lot about these cars and you should do a little more research...
I also see over 100psi on cold starts. ###### close to 120-130. After it warms up it drops down to where it should be. I never drive my car before it completely warms up. I also have balance shafts removed. Almost all 4g cars are known for having this "issue". I have not had any issues with...
Ok guys I'm pretty sure we all drive a 4g powered car for the most part. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't run a holset and you sure as heck don't see me bashing them. After reading many "Holset threads/HX40" discussions it has come to my attention that in many of them I see no member who...
For those that think Dyno numbers are everything...I'm more partial to looking at an actual time-slip and I don't even drag race. Actual numbers have been stated on what times the holset HAS produced so the hateers just need to bite their own tongues. As for what was talked about earlier I could...
I know the CBRD EVO runs a custom Blouch Turbo and has had success with it. I'm not sure on how much they do for our cars, but the custom 33R that they use on the EVO is pretty cool. That's not a typo either....yes I said 33R.
I run without my top one as well. Do so at your own risk. Course as stated earlier I kinda think of money as paper to burn. I keep getting more of it every day for some reason. :hmm: and I hear they keep making the stuff. :D Seriously though... on my 2.4 build I will have all covers in place...
Try resetting the ecu. Disconnect your battery for a few seconds (30) then reconnect. The reason I'm saying this is sometimes if the CAS isn't getting a good connection or you hook it up after the battery it will cause a CEL and prevent fuel and spark from occurring.
The rear is a modified/molded blitz bumper w/ molded wide-body quarter panels. The front fenders just have fender flares and I'm not sure on the side skirts. Then the front is a 2Gb bumper
Due to the way the back seat is designed a rear facing car seat will most likely never fit properly in the back of your car. Even forward facing car seats sometimes tend to tilt to one side or the other due to the nice little butt compartments as I call them. You can have one back there but It...
With the different wheels and housings that I have on my t3/t4 I will be in the 550-580hp range. with amazing spool characteristics. My car is not a designated track car as of now, but with the recent purchase of #545/1000 It just might become one.
It might as well be one I guess since I don't...
Yes I know those were on a 2.0. I never stated otherwise. I'm just stating the fact that I'm building a 2.4 and will be putting on my T3/T4. Yes I know the spool would be affected as far as a 2.0 vs. a 2.4, but since I'm more biased towards road racing I extremely dislike lag. I'm looking for a...
Not exactly sure who I heard it from cause it kind of went in one ear and out the other. I'm not a huge fan of drag racing. I'm more of the road course/autocross/time attack type of guy. I do like to see 4g63 kickin a** on any type of track though. When I'm done with my 2.4 build w/ a T3/T4 I'll...
I've heard about this so called fast Talon in Janesville. It's nice to see the rumors were correct. I'm not a Holset fan, but I'm not a hater either. To much lag for me. My buddies Spirit R/T did ok with one though. Ran 29psi and trapped 121 or so but only ran a Mid 13 pass . Just couldn't get...
The front links will look like the picture you displayed above. The rear links have both joints facing the same direction. :thumb: This info pertains to a 2G platform.
I might be able to get a 2G GS-T Trans from my brother in law. He totaled his car and had either a Jacks Stage II or III in it. I'm pretty sure 2nd gear syncros were going , but I'll look into it if you are interested .
I purchased #545 on 2/8/10 to add to my 4G63 collection. I'm currently cleaning and powder coating misc. parts. Here are a few pictures. Current mod list is as follows.
Mods:
Stock bottom end
3G lifters
EVO III Turbo
MBC (Manual boost controller)
Walbro 255 fuel pump
560cc Evo injectors
3G...
We always used the high-temp permatex and as was stated earlier...Don't over apply and you wont have problems. Use moderate amounts and proper torque and you shouldn't have bolts back out. I find it very disturbing that your instructors didn't tell you about torque specs. WTF
Another helpful trick would be to use RTV on any bolts you don't want to come out. RTV used with proper torque will hold anything for you and allow you to remove the bolt easily. It's a trick used by the GT and Prototype series car teams as well as some of the stock car guys.
I had the same problem with my Lancer ES recently and took the whole axle and hub assembly to my local machine shop and had them press it out with their awesome 20 ton press. Mine took a lot of pressure but in the end got them out.
It's a lot easier to do what some of the guys above have suggested. Put the engine and trans in as one piece. It is possible to put the engine in and then the trans and transfer case but I do not recommend doing it. Put the engine and trans in, then the transfer case and axle's.
